  1. The course was fantastic. It was brutal yesterday..
  2. Will there be a fost tonight in the Silsbee area?
  3. Don't know if you were there but if you thought it was brutal on TV you should have seen it in person. Padraig drove it into the water. they said it never crossed land. He dropped opposite the fairway by the tents. Hit over the green next to the stands. From there back into the water. then pitched in for 6. Out of the last ten or so groups almost half went int the water.
  4. OK guys, I feel that Tiger is the man now. But my question is can he be competitive at the top as long as Jack? Deeper fields could prevent this but will he win a major at 46 years old? Not questioning his ability he has proved that just his longevity.
  5. On the 80's list, shouldn't Anthony Allen(Lincoln) be included.
  6. Live in Silsbee, just wondering if we will have frost this weekend. I have some tomatoes and a few other plants planted.
  7. First off I am a Silsbee fan, and we have 5 players coming back which started a significant number of games for a team that was one of the most talented in 3A teams in the state . And you want to use th JV this year as part of the argument, so did OF JV beat the Tigers? Not to mention the size advantage we will have . Now as far as Turner, Ricossa and Gustafson, I would take Turner over any player OF has. And after watching Ricossa and Gustafson play at the end of the year, I definately have no problem taking them as well. Fans who did npt see these two at the end of the year are going to be suprised. I am not doubting the talent OF has coming back just think it wouod still be an upset to take one of the top two spots from the Tigers or Hawks.
  8. Still don't feel they will have the talent to compete with H-J or Silsbee, but upsets do happen.....
  9. D.C. is the best sophomore I have seen this year. With two years of experience, I expect big things from him this year. I do feel he will suprise some people and end up playing more outside than in the paint but he will still be a force on the boards along with Silsbee's two big men. Silsbee also has another good sophomore returning whose season ended prematurely this year in Prentice Lane, who will also provide good size at the guard position at 6'2.
  10. Silsbee also had a guy who ran track that set a national record but I forgot what event it was and his name but AAW should know...........I think he also ran in the Olympics......... I believe Silsbee's track star you are referring to is Chris Barnes not sure about the Olympics though....
  11. Their post not sure after that but they always have athletes.
  12. BC likely 5th behind Silsbee/H-J, WOS and Orangefield.
  13. Yeah, we have several shooters from the JV we will have to depend on, just not sure who will take over as a strong point guard could be Lane or Hill.
  14. KP when you say H-J will be deep, and I am not arguing, I agree lots of potential talent just not experienced yet, do you feel that the depth ismore a facor of not having Benard/Burrell or just having lots of talent. I can see the same in Silsbee's guard play but feel that it is more so because of trying to fill Robinson and Walter's shooting with several players.
  15. Both teams lost the majority of their offense. Silsbee should have size advantage. After watching the Hawks in the playoffs, I would give them the advantage at point guard(especially since ours will graduate :'(). The Hawks have shooters returning while the Tiger's will have to depend on those coming up. Experience maybe a little on the Tigers side, with five returnint that have started a substantial number of games. The Hawks do have top defensive player returning in Turner. Not sure how much speed they will have other than Turner. Inside the Tigers will have two 6'6, the Hawks will have Ricossa who has become real good. Stallworth and Hill will both be forces for the Tigers. I feel the Tigers have the edge as it stands overall right now, but by the time it matters H-J's coaches will have the Hawks ready, so I don't feel this will be much different than it has been the last few years.
  16. The Tigers season wasn't dissappointing just the ending of it was. There waas only one subpar stretch in the season.
  17. These were before the playoffs...
  18. Maybe Ozen has been to more finals but how many have they won?(had to have H-J's back on that one)
  19. Dallas Madison has to go to overtime to beat a team that had to go to overtime to beat HJ. If HJ shoots better from the freethrow line or cuts down on their uncharacteristic high number of turnovers, they beat LE. In some eyes, including mine, HJ wasn't the "best" team in Region III but they did what no other team in 3A did, beat 3 ranked teams to get to Austin. They were more than deserving of representing Region III in Austin. Dicky, you can argue that Region I or II has the best "team" as in singular, the last 10 years or so, but not the best Region as a whole. You hit the nail on the head AAW, that region may have had the single best team but there are many real good teams in region 3. I think the outcome this year shows that Madison may have been the better team but either H-J or Silsbee was capable of beating them. Just like Silsbee was a better team than Jasper but Jasper ended our season by playing a great game. My question when looking at the rosters were how our guards would have matched up size wise but looking at the box scores it appears they started suards that weren't that much bigger. They may have been the better team but I would have loved to see a Tiger game against them(as long as we played well).
  20. Haven't forgotten him but maybe I did overlook him. And he may be the most consistent.
  21. Both teams should be good but who will step up to take over the games when needed like bernard or robinson have done. I know Turner can with his defense but can he score consistently in the half court offense. For the tigers can hill do the same, both will get there steals and scores. Will Stallworth be able to take over games offensively. i know he can on the boards but have a feeling he may be moved out from under the basket with two 6'6 players.
  22. Yes, I saw him lose it a few times this year as well, I hope he can be a leader. As far as scoring, I know he will get his but not sure if he can be the one to take over in that aspect consistently. To do that i think he needs to develop some outside game as well as his drives to the bucket. He needs confidence in both not just one.
  23. Both the Tigers and Hawks are losing their team leaders, I know Silsbee has Stallworth and Hill returning and H-J has Turner. Both teams have others returning but these are the players that had the higher scoring averages for their teams out of the returnees I believe. Who are the Hawks or Tigers going to have that can step up and take over a game consistently when needed both scoring wise and leadership wise. I am sure for the Hawks Turner can provide the leadership but I have not seen him enough to know if he can provide high scoring nights consistently. I am not sure who will be the Tigers leader either.
  24. Congratulatuions Hawks on your trip to Austin, you deserved it. As far as the Tigers matching up better with Estacoado, maybe. But the fact is we didn't get there, we had a bad game against a good team playing well and got beat. the hawks took care of their business. Do I feel like we could have competed with Estacado, yes. We did beat the Hawks twice so I feel like if Silsbee had a chance and played well we could have been right there at the end just like the Hawks were, but we DIDN'T get there eh Hawks DID. In my opinion we played our best game at H-J, I didn't feel like we played that well in the playoffs. I felt we played good in some stretches in those games but overall not our best yes even in the first two playoff games. We won those two easily but could have played better.
  25. Yeah matched up better but bad night H-J took care of them for us though...
