  1. Maybe Ozen has been to more finals but how many have they won?(had to have H-J's back on that one)
  2. Dallas Madison has to go to overtime to beat a team that had to go to overtime to beat HJ. If HJ shoots better from the freethrow line or cuts down on their uncharacteristic high number of turnovers, they beat LE. In some eyes, including mine, HJ wasn't the "best" team in Region III but they did what no other team in 3A did, beat 3 ranked teams to get to Austin. They were more than deserving of representing Region III in Austin. Dicky, you can argue that Region I or II has the best "team" as in singular, the last 10 years or so, but not the best Region as a whole. You hit the nail on the head AAW, that region may have had the single best team but there are many real good teams in region 3. I think the outcome this year shows that Madison may have been the better team but either H-J or Silsbee was capable of beating them. Just like Silsbee was a better team than Jasper but Jasper ended our season by playing a great game. My question when looking at the rosters were how our guards would have matched up size wise but looking at the box scores it appears they started suards that weren't that much bigger. They may have been the better team but I would have loved to see a Tiger game against them(as long as we played well).
  3. Haven't forgotten him but maybe I did overlook him. And he may be the most consistent.
  4. Both teams should be good but who will step up to take over the games when needed like bernard or robinson have done. I know Turner can with his defense but can he score consistently in the half court offense. For the tigers can hill do the same, both will get there steals and scores. Will Stallworth be able to take over games offensively. i know he can on the boards but have a feeling he may be moved out from under the basket with two 6'6 players.
  5. Yes, I saw him lose it a few times this year as well, I hope he can be a leader. As far as scoring, I know he will get his but not sure if he can be the one to take over in that aspect consistently. To do that i think he needs to develop some outside game as well as his drives to the bucket. He needs confidence in both not just one.
  6. Both the Tigers and Hawks are losing their team leaders, I know Silsbee has Stallworth and Hill returning and H-J has Turner. Both teams have others returning but these are the players that had the higher scoring averages for their teams out of the returnees I believe. Who are the Hawks or Tigers going to have that can step up and take over a game consistently when needed both scoring wise and leadership wise. I am sure for the Hawks Turner can provide the leadership but I have not seen him enough to know if he can provide high scoring nights consistently. I am not sure who will be the Tigers leader either.
  7. Congratulatuions Hawks on your trip to Austin, you deserved it. As far as the Tigers matching up better with Estacoado, maybe. But the fact is we didn't get there, we had a bad game against a good team playing well and got beat. the hawks took care of their business. Do I feel like we could have competed with Estacado, yes. We did beat the Hawks twice so I feel like if Silsbee had a chance and played well we could have been right there at the end just like the Hawks were, but we DIDN'T get there eh Hawks DID. In my opinion we played our best game at H-J, I didn't feel like we played that well in the playoffs. I felt we played good in some stretches in those games but overall not our best yes even in the first two playoff games. We won those two easily but could have played better.
  8. Yeah matched up better but bad night H-J took care of them for us though...
  9. Congratulations H-J on a great season. Not bad for a down year! ;)
  10. Caan't wait til this one next year wish we could have seen one more this year
  11. Yes a lot of us look forward to this rivalry too bad we didn't get that fourth game this year.. All we can do is wonder how good a game it would have been. Good luck in Austin too.
  12. Congratulations Brady and all the seniors as well as other Tigers. I know this one hurts but all of you should have pride in your accomplishments. It just wasn't our night the shots weren't falling and Jasper's were. I as a Tiger fan am proud of all of you, I know y'all wanted more but you will always have the memories of last year going to Austin and the many great games with H-J(which I believe in your Junior and Senior seasons you were 4-3 against). i know you wanted one more but still it was a heck of a ride.
  13. Heck with the calls, it seemed to those of us sitting where we were that they were not even putting scores on the board. Early on, Silsbee had 4 points, made a two, and the scoreboard never changed. Then, later Jasper made a three, and the board did not change. Jasper coach appealed, but after a long discussion, didn't get the points. Were they THAT bad on the score-keeping, or did we miss something? Yes the scorboard operator was horrible, not sure about silsbee's score you are talking about but the score was 18-15 silsbee jasper hit a three the score went to 21-18 jasper we hit a three makingit 21-21 ya'll hit a 3(the one questioned) they left it at 21-21 making it correct i believe
  14. The scoreboard operator was bad but I believe the score at that point was correct. AT 18-15 Tigers leading jasper hit a three the score went to 21-18 jasper then silsbee hit a three and it went 21-21 when jasper hit the next one they left the score 21-21. they had given jasper 6 for the first one i believe.
  15. I would not say Jasper will want it more tomorrow although they seem to be on a mission. I have seen H-J play 6 times this season and what I saw early doesn't even compare to their team now. The same with Jasper, but I only saw them one other time when they were missing a key part of the team. I feel that the edge belongs to the Hawks, if they play well and make their free throws. Jasper was wanting real bad to knock out the Tigers and did just that, now lets see if they can hold up to that standard tomorrow....Go Get 'em Hawks!!!
  16. Great game Jasper, Bailey and Spikes really wanted it tonight. Great season Tigers. I do believe the better team lost tonight. they were simply outplayed. It was a night when our shots weren't falling. Some of that was Jasper's defense but a lot was just simply they weren't going in. We missed too many free throws down the stretch as well. I did have a Jasper fan get in my face after the game running his mouth, when I hadn't said a word. That was just uncalled for, I wish the Jasper players luck but especially after that one fan all I can say is Take care of 'em Hawks. I do think overall in both games the officiating was not up to the standard it should be for a regional tournament. Some calls were just not made, not saying it cost the Tigers a win, Jasper did that just wish it would have been better.
  17. I have to say that both the Hawks and Tigers should have real good teams next year but both have a couple of big starting spots to fill. H-J's point guard will be back and he has started playing on another level than what he did early in the year. They also have starters Turner and Ricossa back. Silsbee has 5 players coming back that have started all or several games this year plenty of height, but will be missing an all-state point guard and a great all around player and shooter in Walters. Not to mention Byars shooting off the bench. We will definately need someone to grow into a good point, I believe we have several shooters coming up but not sure how well they will fill the rest of Walters and Robinson's starting roles or Byars spark off the bench.
  18. This has nothing to do with who wins the Silsbee-Jasper game I consider both of them southeast Texas teams. So if H-J wins we would have 2 teams in the finals.
  19. Just for highlights though, right?
  20. I was afraid of the $$ just a thought especially since I will probably be working. Still think its a great idea...
  21. Strake Jesuit (-8 1/2) vs. FB Elkins FB Hightower (-5 1/2) vs. Houston Chavez Houston Jones (-7 1/2) vs. Huntsville Houston Yates (-27 1/2) vs. Livingston Hardin-Jefferson (-3 1/2) vs. Lufkin Hudson Silsbee (-8 1/2) vs. Jasper Newton vs. Gladewater Sabine (-2 1/2) New Waverly (-9 1/2) vs. Franklin
  22. If H-J wins tomorrow, it will gaurantee two southeast Texas teams in the regional finals. Why can't we get a cameraman up there to film the game and put it on time warner on demand like they did some football games?
  23. Regional tournament Sam Houston Bowie Coliseum 8:00 friday
  24. Better Jasper team with both Bailey and Spikes....Tigers by 12.
