Just my two cents, but playing college football is not just a privilege.  It is a JOB.  A lot of these people are getting a full ride on their education.  I can't speak for everyone but I had to WORK to pay for my education.    So these athletes are getting paid.  If they do not perform their scholarship  can be taken from them.

I can't believe the response to the truth.  Some remarks sound like they were just told Santa Claus isn't real.  Like AJ25 stated how are you going to get an FBS school to play at an [b]18,000[/b] seat stadium?  LSU has a seating capacity or 92,000 and UT 100,000.  Maybe we can raise ticket prices by 5 times just to cover the gate difference.  All Woodard said was the truth it is not going to happen anytime soon.  Reminds of the line from a "Few Good Men" You can't handle the truth. As far as the Enterprise... Why are you going to the head football coach with things that are posted on a MESSAGE BOARD?

The baseball team has a good coach, no a Texas Hall of Fame coach.  I've read all the post that it is time for Lamar to make a change.  How Florida State got rid of Bowden and Lamar should do the same with Gilligan.  Guess what Lamar is not Florida State and not in the ACC.  Lamar is in the Southland where Hall of Fame coaches are HARD to find.  Just look at the list of coaches that LU had to choose from in BASKETBALL.  A real who's who of ......... WHO?!?!?! I have seen the Bowden reference on here a couple of times but there is another side of that coin.  Joe Paterno after back to back losing seasons (3-9 & 4-7) you were hearing the same thing.  The next season they went 11-1 and were number 3 in the nation.  (NIDTGWGUT#3) Another point about coaches, just ask Jerry Jones how EASY it is to find a Championship caliber coach.

I didn't think he was they guy for the job when it was announced. But after watching his interview he made me believe a little more.  I now know why a committee would hire him, he interviews really well.  Now for the sake of the LU basketball program I hope he can coach close to that.

I'm sure Evans wants the job in the Big 12.  Not only for pay but for prestige as well.  He is talking to an Oklahoma paper trying to promote himself.  He is trying convince people in Oklahoma that the jump from D2 to the Big 12 isn't that far.  The problem the problem comes in when he uses the Southland as an example, where I'm sure he is/was one of the top candidates.  He could have stopped with just the SWAC reference and been fine.  Maybe Oklahoma will not give him the job and he will have to come here and eat crow at one of our fine Italian Restaurants.  :D

That is a good way to open conference, with a sweep.

It makes sense to me.  If you want the Dallas - Fort Worth market and UNT will not budge, UTA gives you that.
