Coach Thompson was coaching at Stark High School when I was a sophomore 33 years ago, and it wasn't his first year either. I don't believe that he is much younger than Coach Hooks. He is a good coach and a good man.

It's not just LC-M...heck, they make movies about this stuff... As an example, UTEP, which is not known for it's football prowess, has a coach who took them to 2 bowl games in his first 2 seasons....he posted a 5-6 mark this year, and the Miner faithful are calling for his head. Before his tenure a 1-10 mark at UTEP would have been a "winning" season. The problem with the last NC at LC-M is that, not only did he have unsuccessful seasons, at the same time he alienated many in other sports. I think he would have had more support for another year as a HC IF he had been a better AD. Is this politics? Yep...it's part of the AD's job...if that hurts your feelings, sorry. If a HC wants to act like a king as a HC, and blow off his AD duties, then he dang well better have a record like, oh, I don't know...Dan Hooks. Until then, he would be wise to remember that other sport parents and participants buy tickets and support HIS program as HC...and it would be wise to support them as well... Very accurate explanation of how many LC-M parents feel. If you are the AD act like the AD, otherwise drop the role and be the HC ONLY.

Ditto. Good post. I am not trying to turn this into a LCM rag-fest. But the mold and standing water on rainy days in the Junior High is not acceptable. My child attends school there, and the sinus infections increase during the school year. What is the reason for LCMs failure to clean up this mess? And, the solution is not a bond issue. 40 million dollars as a whole and a $500 a year tax increase for me, individually, is difficult to swallow during these troubled times. I would be more inclined to support a smaller bond issue if the district would demonstrate that it will take care of the buildings that currently exist. I respect several of the teachers and staff at LCM. They work hard and are skilled. I dont have major concerns about most of the teachers. The numerous teachers that left the district have expressed their concerns about some of the policies of the administration. Maybe "promoting" papa bear is a step in the right direction to soothing some of the concerns of the teachers. (I don't recall a posting for his "new" position.) A sharing of concerns can go a long way to improving the problems. Maybe the administration can review some of these threads and try to bridge the communication gap between them and the community. I have spoken to some officials about a few of these issues and I feel like my concerns are falling on deaf ears. I dont want some sugar-coated non-answer, but rather someone to HEAR what I am saying. I don't want some pie-in-the-sky answers. Certainly, a new football coach and AD will be at LCM next year. But other improvements must be made to help LCM be the kind of school that reflects favorably on the fine people living in the LCM community.

Bingo. I have had (2) children graduate from LCM in the last four years. Anytime we wanted to rent a movie to watch the kids had already seen it in school. Evidently this is what they do now instead of teaching lessons.
