1. They were exemplary last year, obvisouly HFHORNS has no idea what he/she is talking about when it comes to hiring quality teachers. They are doing a great job it seems. Perhaps they aren't keeping them b/c of the low pay but it looks like they do a good job at replacing.
2. Perhaps WOS is better than expected and OF is not as good as expected? Maybe more paridy in the district than we all thought. After the BC and HF score...maybe it's a four team battle?
3. Anyone knows about those two guys from Katy? Which Katy school are those two guys from b/c if they are from the Katy Tigers program...could be guys who know how to get the most out of their athletes and know how to win. I still think they will stay inside with the two guys that were not there befor mangan or guys he did not bring in. They have proven AD success and they are already there (not part of the problems either from what I understand). I guess we shall soon see but one thing for sure, a lot of good quality coaches on there...someone should be able to come in and win.
4. I don't like UT but look at what level he has brought that program to. Why should they fire him??? Should UNC fire Roy Williams??? His starting line up is nothing but blue-chip recruits. Some years, you just don't get it done. They lost to an ACC school, it's not like it was really an upset. And best talent in the country??? Have you seen Kansas, Kentucky, or Syracuse play?
5. I'm assuming the last two spots were between Central, LCM, and HF. Anyone know who got in? Anyone know about the girls?
6. Who made the playoffs in both local districts...boys and girls?
7. I think in a couple of years they will be fine...if they play together in high school and don't become about themselves. They have talent coming up but they have to have a team mindset. Remember people they play against two of the top teams in the state every year. If in four years they still aren't winning, there is a major problem because they have some talent coming up.
8.

OF just beat Liberty 24-2 in baseball. They should have just went to the plate and purposely struck out everytime once they were up by 15. I'm not saying Yates winning 175-35 (Not sure if that is the correct score) is right or pressing the whole game when you destroying the other team is right but it is the way he wants to play. It will more than likely come back at him one day.
i don't agree with OF scoring that many runs.  the difference being that in basketball you have options of easing up, slowing the ball down, calling off the press, etc etc.  in baseball, there's no way to slow things down to minimize the damage APART from actually asking the kids to purposefully fail.  each team is going to have to make 3 outs each inning, regardless of the score.  The good thing is that there is a mercy rule, which helps.  asking your players to intentionally strike out is a far cry from not pressing in basketball, or holding the ball a little longer before shooting to slow the game down, which is ALL Wise would have to do to gain the respect that his coaching record would deserve if he would show just a bit of class and humility.
I was being completely sarcastic saying they should go up there and strike out. I agree that he should pull off the press when he is up so much, but it's the way he wants to coach...so let it be.

10. I'm not saying I agree with his method but it's his method...didn't he say before the season started that his team was after scoring records? I could be wrong.
11. Buc...great point. Understand everyone I'm on the side of not going anywhere during spring break and being committed to your team. Bearbryant...yes the coach has that authority but he/she also has to answer to the ad and administration and if they don't back him then he has no leg to stand on. Xavier, I think you have a good point. The starter missed some games, make him/her earn their starting job back. Sounds fair enough to me. Back to the topic...any idea on who the next AD might be?
12. I think it would be much easier if somehow someway they took parents out of coaching little dribblers. I think it causes way too many problems. Everyone has become a coach and knows more than a coach. I would never basketball around here so I tip my hat to any coach who does and puts up with what they have to put up with.
13. Email the UIL and see what they have to say about it. How are you going to punish an athlete for going on vacation during a school holiday. They go on vacation as faimilies, what are you going to do...leave a teenager at home unattended...not a good idea. I don't think the parents should be planning a vacation during this time period if their child is going to be participating in a sport that has games over spring break, but you can't punish the athlete for the parents decision. Missing practice during a school day and a school holiday are completely different. I know when I was in school coaches couldn't even make practices mandatory over spring break. I don't know if that was a school rule or UIL. Maybe someone else knows.
14. Because it is a school holiday. You have no leg to stand on.
15.
Yes, lack of commitment on the part of some players/parents is a problem.  But there are many athletes/parents who have foregone summer, holidays, and spring breaks to be at all the practices and games.  The problem continues to be on many levels - when players miss practices/games for leisure activities, oftentimes they don't receive any consequences for their actions.  This sends the wrong message to those who made the choice to honor their commitments.  On some occasions, coaches have tried to issue consequences only to be chewed out by parents and not backed by administration.  Finally, we live in a society that thinks it's okay to go for whatever brings immediate gratification.  As stated many times before in this thread, the problem is on many levels.
I believe if you are on a team you should have FULL COMMITMENT to your team, and that can start with the parents. If you are on a team that plays over Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Spring Break your commitment should be to your team first. Now, I know during Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks if anything is going on it's not district so maybe the coaches should think about that and allow families to put family first and not schedule tournaments. However, with Softball, Baseball, and Soccer district games take place during spring break. The coach cannot do anything about that and if a family has a player on any of these teams I believe they should put the team before taking vacation. Most situations if an athlete misses during this time it's not his/her fault. A coach CANNOT punish a player for going on vacation during spring break. Most athletes would much rather play than go skiing or to the lake.
16. Calm down...don't get all excited with me, I'm just asking a question.
17. I don't know much about the coach or Woodville basektball to be exact but didn't they play in the state game last year and get upset in the 2nd round this year (from my understanding they shot absolutely horrible)...was the coach not a good one? I'm just wondering b/c from the outside it seems like a good job. Again, I don't really know much about the Woodville program.
18. They don't have open gym during the summer? That's hard to believe because every school that I know of has open gym during the summer. On the weekends during the school year, I don't believe any school has "open gym" and I would l like to see what the UIL would say about a school that does. I'm not saying it's illegal, I don't know, but it seems as if you could be getting into some testy waters by having open gym for sports when they are out of season and not have someone accuse you of coaching going on. It's this simple to me...not a great load of athletes coming through right now on the boys side and playing WOS and Silsbee in football and HJ, Silsbee, and WOS in basketball...hard to win. Blame it on the coaches, on the kids, parents, whoever, but they will be in the mix for the playoffs in two years in both football and basketball because they have athletes coming up.
19. I'm not sure how to spell his last name so I apologize for that, but does anyone know what ever happened to him? I know he was running very low 9 minute 2 miles and very low 4 minute miles while he was in high school. Leo Manzeli (not sure how to spell his last name either) from Marble Falls was running a little bit faster in high school I believe and he is now running for the US. I thought they had went to UT together but maybe not. Just wondering what happened to Jeff...he was an amazing talent and great to watch.
20. As someone mentioned on here earlier they have 2 coaches on staff that have AD experience. I think they will stay in house...just my opinion.
21. Now that I've filtered through all of the arguing and I'm not really sure if any point was ever made. Does anyone have any news of tonight?
22. Didn't BC go 0-10 two years or so ago...giving up around 50 points a game? Now...with the same coach and some better athletes make the playoffs. They have a shot to push for the district title next year. I read a thread in the boys basketball that talked about Roy Williams and UNC's struggles this year. The announcers made a comment that they will be better next year because they will have better athletes. Roy Williams won the National Championship last year and 2 in the past 5 (I believe). Should he be fired now because they probably won't make the big dance? Of course not. I don't know what's going on at HF but I think it's more than an 0-10 football record. Might not be a good fit, who knows.
23. Well if this is in all true, any news on who they might be looking at?
