I know Orangefield had a lot of coaching positions open. Has Coach Huckaby filled those positions? If so, who did they get?

Early Thoughts on Realignment?
Let’sGetAlong replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Any chances any of the current 3A schools move down to 2A? I believe Orangefield is the smallest but I don't know how small. -
For such a young runner...haha...what are you talking about...those time are phenominal!!! She could probably break 10 if she ran with the boys and be close to 4:30 if she was fresh and ran with the boys. Wow!!!

Beach named Leader's Female Athlete of the Year
Let’sGetAlong replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats...she's a very good athlete The Lady Bobcats and first-year coach Kristen Holbrooks reached the playoffs in 2008 and Beach was named District 21-3A’s Offensive Player of the Year. She was given the same title on The All-Orange Leader Volleyball Team. Misquote in the article. She was outstanding middle voted on by District 21-3a. There was not an Offensive Player of the Year. -
just curious if anyone knows why...he seemed to be a finalist

the team to beat in the 2009-2010 Season

Better yet, why can't people use correct grammar? -
So who is the best candidate? I do not know a lot of the people on the list, but it seems to me Mike Long is a great candidate. He has comletely turned Kelly around. They used to be a dormat. And does Dustin come with him? I believe Orangefield needs to get someone with AD experience considering the timing and the fact that there seem to be a lot of pretty good applicants with AD experience.

Lebron James lack of sportsmanship after game 6
Let’sGetAlong replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I believe I said MJ's last seven years. So how could I be more WRONG...last seven years...6 rings and the only playoff loss was when he came out of retirement. I am not saying what Lebron did was right...he's 24 and human...contrary to popular belief...let the guy make a mistake...I'm sorry you have never made one...haha -
Lebron James lack of sportsmanship after game 6
Let’sGetAlong replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
To the comment about MJ never doing this...well it's easy not to act like that when you never lose. He lost one playoff series in his last seven years of basketball (and the one he lost was a shortened year when he came out of retirement). Don't even put Kobe and Lebron in the same sentence when it comes to character. Lebron is one of the few superstars that kids can look up to as an individual. Kobe has a lot of low character moments. Now...two years ago didn't he say that he wanted to be traded and part of that reason was b/c he didn't have the team around him to win??? This radio convo with Steven A. Smith was played everywhere...pretty much said "Hey my teammates aren't good enough...trade me." However, he's done a great job since then with acting professional at all times. Lebron walked off the court at the end of the game and I read he did it last year...it must mean it's a crushing loss when the season comes to an end. Not that big of a deal. -
whats going on at orangefield
Let’sGetAlong replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't know if this is true but I've been told Orangefield likes to keep everything in the family (meaning they really want to hire people that went through the program, etc.) Does anyone know how true that is??? A lot of times it's best to not go back where you came from. Well heck...if all else fails just go find a Peveto somewhere out in the community and offer him the job. Oh and if teachers were babysitters as you claimed...they would get paid a lot more. I mean let's just say $10 an hour per kid...you have 20 kids for 7 hours...$1400. Kids go to school 179 days a year so a teacher would make $250,600 a year. Hmmm...maybe they should be babysitters... -
Rynisha also had the national record in the 300hurdles at 41.00 until it was broken last year by a girl from saginaw I believe. She also has one of the top 10 best 100m hurdle times for a female athlete in the state of TX. Never heard anything about her once she went to LSU though...wonder what happened. Brannon...I don't know about the best to come through SETX...best female jumper...very possible...but Chastity Foster from Silsbee isn't far behind her in the jumps either. Brannon is great though...great athlete.

Did Douglas run the 300 hurdles. She got injured and didn't even jump yesterday. Foster would have had to go under 60 to go in the 400m. Don't know if she could do that. What about BC in the 800 and Mile??? -

You only get one false in the running finals. It is ashame. They most likley would have finished 2nd behind the Mustangs and would have advanced to state. You only get one false start in the prelims or finals. That's how it is in high school track. Most likely to have finished 2nd would have been Taylor (who had the fastest district time in region 3) not Silsbee. Is there any results on anyone besides WOS. How did BC do in the 800? -
Wow...I did not see that coming but he will do a great job over there. So who's next for Silsbee???
-
What happened??? Did he retire or leave to go elsewhere?
-
I don't teach in Nederland but i am aware of their pay. What school district (that teachers want to go teach at) even competes (in this area) with Nederlands pay besides PNG??? LCM is somewhat close but come on now...but I do think Nederland needs new facilities.

****TRACK SCHEDULE UPDATE FROM THE UIL****
Let’sGetAlong replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hopefully they will have the regional meets, but if they don't and they are only going to take the top so and so from each region why not this????? There is going to be a day of prelims no matter what...take the TOP 8 from each region instead of 4 (you won't be leaving so many great runners behind...especially distance). You have your prelims on Thursday and take the top 2 from each event in each region and their are your finals. Is this a good idea or is there something wrong with it? There's just too many distance runners being left behind. So many distance runners don't run for time at district...they just run to win. They are pushing the 800, mile, and for some the 4X400 in less than 2 hours. -
I don't know what her name is but I believe she was number 8. She had a really good arm swing and great approach just pretty inconsistent (which is expected from freshmen). She's going to be very very good in time and I believe she'll have a great impact next year. With Emily Kosh setting her the ball...she'll be much much more consistent. Kosh will be next years outstanding setter.

Confusion surrounds ending of BC/HF game
Let’sGetAlong replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
To the two who keep talking trash to one another...just be quiet and show some class...Now I know Hamshire had to finish the game against H-J and I have heard people say the AD didn't step in on that one. There was no difference in either situation...HF was winning 4-0 against H-J and had to go finish so I don't understand that arguement. I wish they would finish the game but no matter who wins the game isn't BC still obviously the best team in the district. Just because you beat a team once does not mean you are better than them. Just better that night. Both teams are very good teams. HF if you want to prove you are better than BC this year, go deeper in the playoffs...the playoffs are what really matters anyways. Now, if they don't make the game up today can they make it up next week with the TAKS test going on? -
What was her number and what position did she play? What grade is she in? Silsbee has the hitters to win district next year...if they have the setter they could do...don't hold out on the inside scoup...
-
I don't believe I ever said Silsbee DOESN'T have a setter coming up...I said they are in trouble unless they have one coming up. And I watched Silsbee and H-F play many games last year and H-F had good J.V. setters and Silsbee's was decent. The problem is both teams played a 5-1 on Varsity and had great setters on Varsity. It is completely different running a team on J.V. than Varsity. On Varsity you should be running quicks, shoots, and a lot of motion. Don't say these two J.V. teams did that b/c they didn't. I'm not saying a setter can't learn how do all of these things before the season (it doesn't really take long if she has good hands)...I'm saying if they don't...the teams could be in trouble. It's simple 4 good teams next year...three spots...I just picked OF, BC, and HF. Nothing against Silsbee...but they did lose a lot...but they are always capable of reloading.
