  1. Besides, Gabe this was the joker that got it off track on the fourth post!!!! But yet it was allowed to continue till now!
  2. So the would you rather us take this over and create a new topic to discuss the issue of "player ejections at HF," or maybe "bad reactions of players and umps to calls?". This is a forum and this is a discussion what does it matter where it is discussed. Your right though this topic is dead, because te game is over and has been for a long time so remove the topic all together and lets create another on!
  3. I don't know these kids..............but if a team has had a player ejected in two games, might be a discipline problem. AND Coach Landry is OUR coach now, we are 6-0 and have not had any discipline problems or ejections in any games. The facts of this argument are as follows: (1)there have been two separate players ejected this year in baseball for HF one vs. OF the other at BC. )2)vs. OF the player was ejected for throwing a bat after striking out, but the frustration came not from the K but from the fact that one pitch earlier he was trotting a 2-run HR that the ump blew calling it foul when it was clearly inside the foul pole down the rt field line. (3)the other was at BC when on the play that the ump called the runner out after the dropped thrid strike that the catcher threw to 1B and hit runner in the back, a player in the dugout, #6 simply said, and I qoute "that one is on you blue, period." (4) neither had anything to do with balls and strikes (5) neither include any inappropriate language (6) by HF district athletic policies both players also were suspended for the next ball game as well. (7) both kids used bad judgement, and made a mistake, but if you ask both, they would both tell you they were wrong (8) the same two incidents I have personally witnessed from MANY other baseball teams with no ejections. (9) the baseball program and the entire HF athletic program, coaches, and community are some of the classiest individuals I have had the pleasure of playing against. (10) the situations in question were bad choices, high emotion, but clearly are not associated with lack of discipline within the baseball program or athletic program as a whole. (11) bad charcter and negative traits amd culture are learned behaviors that take time to develop, they come about from the examples of others the are influenced by, but because they are developed traits they also take time to correct and reprogram to good behaviors. Therefore, these problems should not be blamed on the current influences but instead on the influences in their lives over a much longer duration. HF is a classy program and I am positive that the coaches, the kids, and the program as a whole learned from these "lessons." The important thing is compare what accountibility was placed on these kids this year versus in years past??? Look at the situation over a much longer timeline both past and present before you start casting stones and comparing programs of this year versus last.
  4. QUESTION: If a player transfers from a HS in another state to a HS in Texas in the middle of a season is he eligible to play this year. What about if the player was suspended and prohibited from athletics by the "UIL" governing body of the other state for a rules violation THEN he transfers to a school in Texas, would he be able to play this year? Someone in the know enlighten me on the eligibility rules in Texas under UIL and how this is allowed to be happening in the GT area?
  5. I think we'll beat yall by as much as we did in football.....Ouch!! :-* What's football got to do with this?? Neither team did anything in football and both teams will be in the baseball playoffs. Besides if fb were an indication last year HF scored 63 on BC in football well so did everyone else and had BC beat in both baseball games last year, but BC baseball was still pretty good in spite of it.
  6. This is correct, and if I remember correctly Timpson finished 11-3 that year, was the third place team from that district and was beat in regional finals of AA by district foe Garrison for second time only other loss was to San Augustine in district in 2003 I believe.
  7. Everyone has a right to their opinion as you. With that said I want to express mine. Sir, you couldn't be anymore irrational than what you showed in your statement about the hazards of coaching for a living. No one, yourself included should be forced to relocate their family on a whim because someone thinks winning games in high school football games is the determination of a good coach. It really depends on your criteria for defining the responsibilities of a coach and how a coach should be evaluated. A coach should be measured by the positive impact they make on the kids they touch daily. The job of a coach should be to instill discipline, pride, accountability, respect, character, and high moral values that come from being apart of the program. What people fail to realize is athletics is nothing more than an extension of the education system as a whole just as math and science and the impact most felt by any person ever playing the game was the relationships developed between he and his teammates and his coaches. That is what matters most winning games and championships is only a byproduct of the process not the goal. Relationships are whats important and how you learn to win and lose are the important factors not the number of wins and losses. And do not accuse me of being a loser because I have been on both sides in my 60+ years so I have experience enough to know.
  8. No Actually there are alot of changes on the HF side. We lost a Great DC when Carl Broussard left. There were several other coaches that jumped ship about the same time. I agree with HORNS FAN in the fact that you have to teach fundamentals. They practice until 9pm every night, what exactly are they doing? New uniforms are great, but that doesn't make you a better team. There is no "TEAM" here its all about the individual player. With the new coach everyone was optimistic that things would turn around. That hasn't happened. All we can do is support our team and hope for the best. Alot of changes when??? The qoutes I found were from last year not two years ago, meaning things were peachy-keen last year at this time, and Carl Broussard was already gone. The practices and coaches last year are the same as this year. The fundamentals taught or not taught were the same this year as last. They practice till 9:00pm every night, really? How do you know? Are you out there every night? Do you see what they coach? Maybe teaching fundamentals is being done, how do you know???? Please expand ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION!!!! Can you define the word TEAM and its meaning pertaining to your accusations? At what point does accountability go back to the players?? How much is lack of retention or lack execution?? Like I said to HFHorn86. if you know how to fix walk in the door and offer your input. But if you think at anytime getting on here and bad mouthing a program you say you support doesn't fix anything, it really only shows lack of true concern and care for your program you claim to support.
  9. Ouch! That hurts!!! yeah it does but he, she or it, is right. So here it is I going to stop with the excuses and lay it out there. We obviously do not have the talent or coaching to keep up with the big boys in a our district. WOS & Silsbee will always have talent year end & year out, they do not rebuild they just reload. HF needs to play better fundamentally to overcome what they lack in talent. This years team although somewhat talented is fundamentally flawed, to many costly penalties, turnovers, along with a serious lack of execution, discipline and leadership gave this team no chance. There I said it I hope this made all of you HF haters happy. Well. since you have all the answers and solutions HORN"FAN", why don't you just go in and tell the coaches what's wrong, or better yet go to the powers to be and tell them to hire you for the job? I am sure with your "expert" insight to the situation and your enormous experience coaching youth football you could turn the Horns around.
  10. Since I called it last week, HJ wouldn't score against WOS, and I said that HJ had won their last game of the year when they beat HF, I guess I still have no crow to eat?? Now you HJ fans can celebrate for making the playoffs since it is official, congratualtions!, But I will stand behind my statement they will not win again this year. They may be able to score once against Silsbee, but that would be it. Silsbee 35 - HJ 7.
  11. I will be fair and hold the rest of my comments till this time tomorrow night but all you HJ "optimist" that really feel you have a shot at winning district and beating WOS, please remember to come back to this post tomorrow night so we can ALL come clean.
  12. I am not predicting the score WOS will score, alot, but I will make a prediction and say HJ does not score. WOS ALOT - HJ 0
  13. Forgot to comment about this statement. Are you the same HJ person making this statement about you own coach last year and earlier this year? If HF feels a change is needed it would be the worse decision they could make for the program and the kids. Injuries have nothing to do with coaching and from what I have read the team on the field for HF isn't a shell of the team they began with. Again, hold your celebrations (unlike last Friday night) for when you do clinch a spot, and hope you survive the last two you play during the regular season, because if HF wins I bet they will hope HJ beats Silsbee and then their in with a win over BC no matter the score.
  14. We shall see. That is why you play them. This is my point HJ has taken great steps to improve their chances but they haven't made the playoffs yet, correct?? This was my point. And unless Hypolite changed his number he played the entire game at HF. Good luck to both teams but don't talk about lack of class, unless you look at yourself, is my point.
  15. Almost forgot. HJ fans better hope, and pray HF doesn't beat Silsbee again this year like last year, because if they do, HJ will not make playoffs!!!! Points won't matter.
  16. From where I'm sitting the lack of class is coming from you guys come on here and bad mouth kids from HF. There were many flags thrown and they were very one sided against HF. Both teams played hard, with that whem you lose would you expect to see the losing team doing cartwheels and having a party? The difference in the game was two HF turnovers in side the HJ 10 that was the difference. One fumble, one INT, both in first half. So please be fair and classy when you discuss the game. But if you think this playoff race is settled, you may be eating your words. I will take place a bet that says HJ has won their last game this season!!!! Playoffs or not!! Do you want to take any of that action?
  17. Are there really Silsbee getting on here mouthing about how bad HF will get beat?? What a short memory, wasn't this the same Longhorn team that went into your backyard last year and HAMMERED your Tigers 35-14 last year? And your talking them down??? I really do not think you guys of all people should saying anything about HF. You would think you learned YOUR lesson last year.
  18. I saw HF play Deweyville and Orangefield and I beg to differ about this being their best team in 10 years. Not in my opinion, but you are entitled to yours!! I do not see HF running over the Stangs like they did Orangefield, but who knows?? Best to both and play injury free!! This may or may not be the most talented HF team in last 10 years, we may never know? One thing is because they have yet to have them all on the field at the same time this year, so we may never know. They weren't any bigger than Deweyville or Orangefield. This team has lost to Lumberton and La Grange, only this year, definitely no slouches! They scrimmaged Kirbyville and Anahuac. They have yet to look good but have won 3 games, I still believe they haven't peeked and may not this year at all due to the injuries. But if you think they are not a good football team, be careful! WOS will win this game, but do not count HF out of the playoff mix.
  19. Haven't heard anything, but Burrell was broken leg and Daigle separated shoulder, Bell some kind of knee injury. I would expected any to play this week against OF
  20. Burrell and Daigle been out since Week 1, Bell supposedly went down this week. HF seems to be devastated by injuries. JV kid playing TB and entire JV secondary against La Grange is what has been said?
  21. I will stay with my original predictions, all be it many variables still exist especially with HF: WOS HF (if Daigle, Burrell, and Bell play) Silsbee otherwise switch Silsbee and HF order
  22. Well, I will make a statement that anyone that has played HF over the last three years will agree that tha injuries of Burrell and Daigle did make a difference in the game. Those two in the secondary may not have changed the outcome but there was no way they could have been replaced so say what you will about "excuses" that is a fact. Who is Simmons? What happened to Bell? He had over 500 yards in the first thrre games?
  23. I am glad someone on here at least has some understanding that HF practiced two days in the last 3 weeks. This after losing their two best players to injuries. That could have had something to do with the "rust." I believe it is way to soon to be writing off the Horns. They will be fine if they continue to work hard. Now that I think about it there last win against Liberty cam on two days practice as well. This week it's LaGrange on another short week, tough for any team.
