I agree...this is the worst yr in SE Texas that I have seen in a long time.

Newton's sloppy playing in the first half cost them the game. Marlin was a better team today and keeps their streak over Newton alive.

You're right, he is hating on Newton. Tatum, Newton or Marlin win Div 1, just a matter of who can survive. I do however think that Mart is THE best 2A team in the state.

I can account for the 4 loses but not for the one win.......

Now this is gonna be a game!!! I think a few of WOS faithfull are taking Giddings a little toooo lightly. I think the game will be decided by 3 pts or less and is just to close to call, but pulling for the locals.

I would LOVE to see Newton by 21 but I just don't know. Marlin is down a little compared to years past but so are we. I look for a tight, hard fought game with Newton by 6.

A team has to learn to win and it can't be done in one game or even one yr. Once a team starts winning the fans start showing up, the players work a little harder, the younger kids see that they CAN compete with other schools and a winning program is born. The perfect example of this is Kirbyville, look how far they have come in just the last 4 or 5 yrs.

This will be a very tough game for EC to win but it is possible. Mart is LOADED with athletes and skill players. If EC can stop Mart from making the corners, stop the deep ball and create some turnovers they can pull it off. Mart is a big play type team that can and will score very quickly putting EC in the catch up mode, not a good place for EC. I see this game going one of two ways: 1. EC wins in a VERY close game 2. [You are very correct about Elkhart, not a bad team but just had the misfortune of being in a super tough district with Mart, Marlin, Teague and Leon.

OK last comments from me on this game: Buna should be very proud of making the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Coach Morgan is a class act, a good man and will have his players ready come Friday night. However, Newton brings too much to the table in this game, even though we are in a "rebuilding" year, we are still talented and deep at almost every position. We have the speed to take it to the house at any time plus our RBs will PUNISH defensive backs coming up for the tackle. Defensivly we are fast and physical, Buna will not be able to run outside, their only hope is dive after dive and then we will stack the box. Our down fall is that we are young, will return 16 starters next year. Can Buna beat Newton, sure they can, but it will take a near perfect game for them and Newton will have to play worse than they have all year. Not trying to knock Buna in any way, I just think that they are severly overmatched this time. Just my .02, good luck, hope both teams remain injury free and everyone drive safe. P.S. won't be at the game but will be listening to Newtonbroadcaster give the play by play.

Hemphill has a good defense and will burn a lot of clock with their ground pounding type offense behind thier MASSIVE OL. I look for a low scoring game with EC by 7.
