  1. Should be a good game IF Splendora can control the ball. Thats a big IF. Obviously turnovers can play a big role as well. Silsbee is a darn good team and Splendora is darn good at playing keep away as well. If there is an upset this week, this could be it! Both have 2 common opponents, Hamshire and Orangefield. Splendora played both of these teams very early and lost very close games while Silsbee edged them both by a touchdown. Trust me when I say, Splendora is NOT the same team right now as they were in week 1 and week 3. If you go by common opponents, this could be a very interesting game. The key will be the Splendora defense vs Silsbee's option attack. If they can just slow them down and get 2 or three turnovers, look out! If not, it will be a long night for the 22-3A champions. On paper, its Silsbee by 20 or more. But I have a funny feeling about this one. I say Splendora wins this one in a shocker. No disrespect to Silsbee because they may win by 30. If they do, I'll take my crow served up hot and steamy! Good luck to both teams.
  2. biggen thanks for the freshman update, but i was more interested in the VARSITY games tonight
  3. With Splendora @ Coldspring and Liberty @ Shepherd getting all the "pub" this week, what do you guys think about this battle of "Epic" proportions? A lot of pride at stake between 2 neighboring schools. No one wants to end up in last place but one of these teams will reluctantly claim that dubious distinction. Your picks?? I like the horns by a couple. Horns- 32 Tribe- 30 Go Horns
  4. If they play dirty, ya got's to play even dirtier!!! Just my opinion. Splendora is plenty nasty too. They are the type of team that will not take that from anyone, even Coldspring. Thats why it will be a good game. Brushpoppers makes darn good toilet paper!
  5. Win your district! If you go 8-2 and do not make the playoffs, its because there were 3 teams BETTER than you and you don't deserve to go! You have proved throughout district play that your team is not worthy of a "state championship" so why play for one!! OK, 4-6 or 5-5 gets in from another district, they have proven that they are one of the best 3 in that district which was established by the UIL! They are worthy of that spot, I do not care how many games they lost in NON DISTRICT (Which means absolutely NOTHING!!) The only difference between the 8-2 sitting home and 5-5 in the playoffs is that the 8-2 team has already played its "playoff" games in district and thus proved themselves unworthy-It may take a little longer to "prove" that they are not worthy of a "state championship" but the 5-5 team will eventually meet the same fate, probably early in the playoffs. Liberty has been in some tough 8 team districts in the past and proved that they belong over and over and over. This may be a down year for Liberty and 22 3A but don't tell me they don't belong. Those kids would love to get WOS in the first round. They may not win but they would rather be in the playoffs than at home.
  6. Femur Breaker, I think I know you and your boy pancaker66. Better be careful, big brother is watching!!! Good luck to the Cats this week!!
  7. Any 1000 yard rushers in this district? I know Brooks from Tarkington has broken 1000 in passing. Surely, someone from Coldspring or Splendora is close.
  8. Hitch, How do you figure that? If Cleveland beats Tarkington and Shepherd beats Liberty, all of those teams will be 2-3 and all will have beaten one of the other 2. A tiebreaker WILL be needed. All I'm asking is, what are the tiebreaker rules? Is it points, coinflip, etc?
  9. Coldspring "should" win this game. Its one of those games that if you played it 10 times, Coldspring would win 7 or 8 times. This game may be over by 9:00 because neither team will throw the ball. Both are very methodical in their groundgames. So it comes down to "D" and special teams. I'll give advantage Splendora with the special teams and Coldspring the edge on D. Obviously, turnovers will play a major role as well. Regardless of what happens, both of these teams have come a very long way in one season. Splendora was 3-7 last year with one of those wins coming against a 1-9 Coldspring team. Obviously, Barbers Hill and Huffman being gone have helped Splendora and the move back west has helped Coldspring. Congratulations to both Coach Stewart from Coldspring and Coach Nelson from Splendora for doing fine jobs with these programs.
  10. OK , then its points but don't most districts put a max "limit" on how many points you can use. For example, 10-15 points to keep people from running up the scores. Example (Lets use 10 points) ALL of these teams have beaten each other by MORE than 10 points when they have played and if Shepherd wins by more than 10, what do you do then?
  11. Hey Gorilla, don't go into the "prediction business". Pretty good spread on the Splen-Shep prediction, I'll give ya that. Cleveland DID get hammered (40-0) and Tarkington, well, (52-12), someone needs to tell them to get off the bus because I think they are still on it! I thought that game would be closer myself. Do you know how the tiebreaker works?
  12. Hey Wildcat76, let's see if we can find a dictionary. (I am assuming you are from Splendora). I'm glad they are playing good football, but I hope they can spell a little better than what was on the last post!!!
  13. The schedule maker had it PERFECT in this district!! Splendora @ Coldspring next week for the district championship. Gotta go with the Trojans in this one. It's pretty much a tossup but the game is at Coldspring. Should really be a good game but I'll take speed every time. Liberty @ Shepherd for 3rd place if Cleveland loses to Tarkington. If Cleveland beats Tarkington and Shepherd beats Liberty, then there is a 3 way tie for third. (3 teams at 2-3 and all of them would have beaten at least one of the other 2) I do not know what happens as far as a tiebreaker goes in this scenario. Bottom line is Liberty controls their own destiny and Shepherd and Cleveland need help to force a 3 way tie. Coldspring 4-0 Splendora 4-0 Liberty 2-2 :? Shepherd 1-3 :x Cleveland 1-3 :x Tarkington 0-4  Playoffs D1- Splendora vs Silsbee D2- WOS vs Liberty, Shepherd, Cleveland Kirbyville vs Coldspring
  14. Actually, it was neither. It was Point Blank. Fishin' was good but thats about all.
  15. Good luck to both of these teams. They both play hard and even though you get WOS in the first round, it could be worse! You could be at home!
  16. THERE IS NO "S" at the end of COLDSPRING!!! I used to live there, I KNOW!
  17. I'm bettin' he says #35, just a hunch. Better strap it up tight #35, those prairie folk are not scared to put the ball in the air!! You never know what you will get from Brooks and Co. He might throw for 400 yards or he might throw 5 picks. (Heck, he might do both!) Better watch out for #18 (Big Back) as well. He can flat out run over you if he wants to.
  18. I'll take Coldspring (No "S" at the end) over the Tribe- 38-12 The Panthers over the Horns in a close one 30-26 and I'll take the Cats over the Bucs in a big way 48-14. Standings after week 4 will look like this: (You can take it to the BANK!) Splendora 4-0 Coldspring 4-0 Liberty 2-2 Shepherd 1-3 Cleveland 1-3 Tarkington 0-4 Splendora and Coldspring will play @ Coldspring the final week for the District title. As for third place, it will come down to the final week.
  19. Ballcoach, I am sure it means everything in the world to the kids on those two teams. Its still football and I can promise you those coaches have not given up on those kids or the kids given up on their coaches. There is a lot of pride in that Liberty football program and Tarkington is trying to do something that has not happened in half a century, get into a playoff game! Don't berate these kids or their programs. Walt and Jeff do a great job with what they have.
  20. Very interesting matchup with playoff implications on the line. Two very different philosophies as to how to move a football down the field as well. Its simple for Liberty, beat Tarkington and finish with a win over Shepherd and they lock up the 3rd spot. For Tarkington it gets a little more complicated. The Horns need to beat Liberty and finish with a win over Cleveland and hope that Liberty beats Shepherd in week 10. (The Horns do not need Shepherd to beat Splendora as this would eliminate the Horns) I think the game is in Liberty.
  21. I don't think I said 22 was going to beat up on 21. If I were betting, I would say quite the opposite. All I said was how rediculous your comment was to move teams around so the districts would be competitive. That is a ludicrous statement and I think 90% of the folks on here would agree with me. You cant align districts because of the ability of a football team!!!!! You said "Its sad". Why? Its simple logistics and the UIL trying to be as fiscally responsible as possible. As a taxpayer, I applaud that. Besides, other than WOS in 21 3A, How can you predict how good a team will be from year to year. You can't!!
  22. Splendora and Coldspring are in at 1 and 2. Who wins? It's tough to say right now. I'll go with Coldspring only because the game is in Coldspring. 3rd is just impossible to predict, 3 teams at 1-2 and Tarkington at 0-3. I am gonna say Shepherd gets in over Liberty.
  23. No Tiger it is not fear or hostility, just tryin to set Daddy straight with his rediculous comment about how the UIL "stacked" 21 3A. Obviously, he does not get out much. Even you backed me with your statement about how 21 3A being an "old" district that goes back many years. Thanks, I think. All any team can do is beat the teams the UIL says they "have" to beat, regardless of the strength of the district as a whole. As we all know, the kids and coaches do noy control this, but the "Gods" in Austin do.
  24. I don't think I said anything about a "juggernaut" in 22-3A. All I said was that these teams improve every week. It is no secret 21-3A top to bottom is a better district and should be favored in all 3 matchups come playoff time. Like I said earlier, Coldspring and Splendora are much better than they were earlier this year. By no means am I predicting them to advance past the first round, that would be stupid, BUT.....stranger things have happened in the playoffs. Right now, no one has been eliminated from the playoff race in this district. Tarkington and Cleveland still could get in wih some help. Liberty is not the "shoe in" like most are thinking. Coldspring 3-0 remaining games Cleveland, Splendora Splendora 3-0 remaining games Shepherd, Coldspring Shepherd 1-2 remaining games Splendora, Liberty Liberty 1-2 remaining games Tarkington, Shepherd Cleveland 1-2 remaining games Coldspring, Tarkington Tarkington 1-2 remaining games Liberty, Cleveland
