  1. Montgomery won 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, much like Texas City did last night! The third and deciding game is at University of Houston at 5pm. Good luck Stings!!!
  2. Another interesting fact: Jasper beat Bridge City in the Regional Final 2 out of 3 in 1985 to advance to state. :-\ The Bulldogs lost to either DeSoto or New Braunfels Canyon in the semi-final game at the state tournament.
  3. Thursday at Texas City 7pm Friday at Montgomery 7pm Saturday at U. of Houston if needed
  4. Texas City won a lightning/rain plagued game 2 with Austin McCallum to advance to the regional finals. The Stings will meet the Bears of Montgomery next week. Should be a great matchup! Texas City beat the Bears earlier in a tournament but all bets are off for next week! ;D
  5. A&M Consolidated H.S.
  6. The Raiders will put points on the board. Will there defense be up to the challenge? They will be a better team than last year but won't have the luxury of sneaking up on anyone this year! ;D
  7. Fall of '77 was the first season for West Orange Stark. Prior to that you had the West Orange Chiefs and the Stark High Tigers.
  8. In a dogfight, I go with the Bulldogs! ;D In 3.
  9. I would agree a lot of Hardin-Jefferson and a bit of Hamshire Fannett
  10. BC will be home team tomorrow! 8)
  11. The champion of that district made it to the State Semi-Finals. Weak indeed.
  12. is that the only way to "loosen up" your team??? : Leave that behavior in the college game. Otherwise don't be offended when others remind you that it is classless. There are too many good folks in the H-J family to let a few clowns screw up the school's reputation.
  13. I agree with the suggestion that there is strength in numbers. If your community does not value softball, baseball, basketball, track, etc. don't expect the school board to. I assure you that the board values what the community does or they won't be on the board for long. Bashing football (or whatever sport is the focus) is not smart. You only alienate a large group of potential supporters. Money alone does not build a program or fix a problem. Start at the heart level and the wallet will soon follow. (paraphrasing a Biblical text).......
  14. Yep, BC and Vidor don't have the luxury of warm-up games. It is "game on" for both of us this week.
  15. Each district has it's own tiebreaking system voted on before the season. I think our district does go to the one game playoff in case of a tied record.
  16. Morgan - you said that you wouldn't umpire because you, "don't want to be responsible for a teams fate " ??? If you are that unsure of your abilities in relation to the game of baseball, you need to keep your baseball opinions to yourself. I disagree with umpires on occasion but I appreciate the heck out of those guys with enough guts and confidence to umpire and make it possible for us to play this great game of baseball. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dyson family and we thank you for his service to our young people.
  17. Congratulations, Coach Terrier from your pals at your alma mater in Bridge City! ;D Good luck in the playoffs! We will be keeping up with the Cougars as they work their way toward Austin! 8)
  18. That definately throws a cat amongst the pigeons! Now TAKS week forces us all to wait for the next round of games. Congratulations Hawks!
  19. I don't have a dog (or Indian!) in this argument, but I see no problem with what occurred. Varsity is first priority, thus the insurance players. If the players don't play in the varsity game, they have every right to get playing time if the coach deems it necessary. There are no promises in high school sports. I hear the same type arguments when coaches are criticized for playing underclassmen ahead of upper classmen. If you don't someone to play ahead of you, be the better player.
  20. 3 homers... Troy Bolton to lead off the bottom of the first and then two grand slams in the 2nd inning. Johnny Dishon and Jaden Dillon.
  21. Congrats, Bulldogs. A great demonstration of small-ball being played by a very fast team. 4 errors by the Cardinals did us in. Bronson can bunt and run. I was curious how anyone else would have scored that last bunt by Bronson. I felt that it should go down as a fielder's choice/sacrifice and not a hit. He would have been out at first but the Cardinals had no reason to throw him out with only one out and the winning run just scoring. Obviously it makes little difference as the result is the same. :-\
  22. I agree with Orangeboy. If the Lumberton folks let Coach Reyenga build his program, their future is bright. The difference I have seen since the scrimmages in this team is remarkable. If the RaiderNation gets impatient, they will end up where they did last year. Hang in there Raiders!
  23. Zach Celeste pitched for Kelly. He did a great job keeping the Cardinal batters out of sync.
