1. H-attack you hit the nail on the head.  It's not about Raines....That's just others reading into the question.....Without a doubt he will be a future standout at NHS and I apologize to Carson that some on here misinterpreted it and made it about him. The question is whether the coach is getting the other pitchers the work they need to be ready to go more than an inning?
 2. I figure Nederland will have several that's a talented class with Trevin Sonnier, Tyler Smith, Jacob Pitts, and Stephen Schlett.
 3. Nederland looked good.  Just think how much stronger they get when Kirby is full strength and basketball(Pitts and Campbell) is over.  I agree Laird would be a number one and Pitts, Smith, and Brown would be number 1 or 2 on most other teams.  I don't think I've ever seen a team with this much pitching depth.  Unforunately it means some pitchers will not get the work they need.
 4. I would not base my argument on being All District. Every team gets represented whether deserved or not.
 5.

Franks has only played in the Ned game. He hasn't played since. Anyone have any info?
Man, I hate to hear this. Maybe an injury?
Alot of talent...Not to wish ill on anyone but I hope it is an injury and not a young talent slipping through the cracks.  He can flat play but needs to get the attitude in check.  I hope to get to see him play some more this year.
 6.
i think they have a great ball team and they could start any where any of them move too as long as they set their mind to it thats if you ask me i heard central will be tough as well
Get real!!!  You must not know anything about the other teams.  There was not a player on Ozen's team last year that would have started for Nederland, PNG, Vidor, Livingston, or LCM.  If so tell me who on those teams they could have replaced.  It's not a knock against Ozen's players but the talent pool in baseball at those schools is just deeper.  Because of the coaching and summer programs in those areas, they seem to be able to turn out baseball talent, year in and year out, like Ozen does basketball talent.
 7.
i cant wait till you see ozen this year they are going to shut you up
I'll be the first to give them credit if they do make it to the playoffs.  However to come on here and claim we should expect them to make the playoffs when three of the top 4 teams, all of which beat Ozen last year, return most of their starters is just not very realistic.  That would be like any team in 20-4A saying they were better in basketball than Ozen before they have actually went out and proved it on the court....it's easy to say how good you are but it doesn't mean anything until the team proves it.  Ozen should be better but so should those other young teams that did so well last year.
 8. Last year every team in District 20-4A except LCM was young.  Nederland has to replace a ss and lf; PNG 1b, C, RF; Vidor ss, 2b/3b(Griffin played both), & 1b.  I think they will be the top 3......all have the pitching to win.
 9.
I know they have a real shot at the district crown this year, dont count them out this year.  Have a real good returning squad, actually the whole starting squad is returning.  So, I would beware of the upcoming talent on that squad for this year.
They may surprise some teams but have no shot at the district crown.  You need to start off with something a little more realistic like being in the top 4 and making the playoffs.  Nederland only lost two of last years starters, PNG only lost 3, and no player on Ozen's team would have even been able to be on any of the top four teams varsity roster's last year.
 10.

1. Nederland- The Dogs had a great run last year with a lot of underclassmen stepping up.  Only lost 3 starters off of last years Regional Finalist team.  Bellow and crew should win the District 2. PN-G-  They have a good core coming back with Benoit, Sweetenham, Reyenga, Jalali and some younger guys that are ready to  step up.  The Indians have some good young talent and Stone will have them ready. 3. Vidor-  If Hester can stay healthy this year, Vidor should be in the running.  They will be young, but have some pretty talented kids coming up. 4. LC-M-  Shane Wadell and ?????????.  This team lost almost everyone from last year.  Lots of new faces will have to step up for the Bears to make the playoffs.  Hard to ever count out one of Griff's team, they should get in. 5. Lumberton-  They have some good players coming back.  They may have a shot to sneak up on some people.
I believe someone better count in Ozen in somewhere on that list.  Dont come in with your eyes closed.
Nobody has their eyes closed.  Ozen has to prove it on the field.  They couldn't make the playoffs when Lott and Gardiner were there, I don't think they are better now.  Unless several new players have moved in I don't see them making the playoffs this year.  I applaud you being a true fan and supporting them though.
 11.
Nederland     Kirby Bellow     Cody Laird     Tyler Smith     Nick Cardenas     Jacob Pitts     Brett Brown     Ryan Brady???  Is he playing??? or will it be like last year :'( With or without him Nederland has a solid bullpen.  After Bellow take your pick who starts and who comes in for relief.  3 lefties and 3 maybe 4 righties that could start for most teams.  If they all get and stay healthy it should be a great season.
 12. This is a ridiculous thread.  It is self serving.  If you watched the Dayton game, it is not just the guards that are not getting the ball down the court.  The first outlet pass was thrown away by the person this thread is about.  The whole team has underperformed especially the posts.  How many 2 foot shots, layups, and free throws have they missed.  Just because the potential should be there doesn't mean the player is performing at that level.  Chemistry does noThere is a ton of ability out there but it isn't being shown by the players.    The coach can't play for them.  I do have to say some of the bench players deserve more time if the starters aren't going to get it done.  Miller, Hadnot, Wagner, Pitts, & Landry don't always look good but they all play hard like they want to be out there and appreciate any time they earn.  The others play like they know they don't have to work as hard because they will get the time no matter how they perform.  Unfortunately, that's the nature of high school sports in general now days.  If you have the natural giffts you don't always have to play hard to get the time and those players realize that.  It's still early and preseason is about gainning the experience to play in district.  Let's keep it about the team and not divide by worrying only about one player.  I still believe!!!!
 13. WHy do you have Jalali on second team? The kid hit like seven or eight homeruns this season If you are justifying a player on first team on homeruns alone then there are a lot of different players that would be on first team. However I believe there is more to being a player than just homeruns.

 15. Congrats to those who made it. I do think some players on second team(Dean or Weathersbee come to mind) could be on first because of their all around game and consistency. Some on first team are living on history and rep. Not necessarily what they did this year. One scored alot but if you look at what position he played he should have a bunch of assists as well but doesn't because he would turn the ball over or force a shot rather than pass the ball. Cost the team in several games.... but he has a lot of points that's whats important. Role players don't get the recognition they deserve but most of them don't worry about individual accolades but instead do what the team needs. In the end it is always about the points.
 16. Reading the paper, game after game certain names pop out as doing something to help their team out: Hester and Sims for Vidor; Bellow and Pitts for Nederland; Spikes, Benoit, Jalali, for PNG. Of course the pitchers who are also position players will be the front runners.
 17. It's not that you can't speak your mind.....but make an idiotic comment and expect to get ""hammered"(pun intended) for it by those who disagree. ;D Indians are solid at all positions..... I can't think of a player that should be starting that is not. It's a good problem to have so much talent within a program. And it's an even better problem to have a coach who knows what to do with it.

 20. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??? Amen!!! PNG's Coach's track record is too solid to question. Maybe the better player(s), that Jack... alludes too, has a cancerous attitude that his talent can't overcome. There is a lot of young talent at PNG.

 25. Based on the games I have seen, I agree with some of your points. However, when he actually fulfills his role as point guard by being willing to pass to all players(not just one) and does not force shots then he is among the better players. In reality there is not one Nederland player that has been consistent enough for me to say one is more important than any other player on the team.(That includes all three of the names that are always mentioned as the stars.) They are lucky they have enough players that can help when another player has a down night. In the end the same players tend to be recognized after the season is over whether are not they have stood out in the current season or not. It isn't necessarily right but a player's reputation can trump actual performance.
