  1. "they will have to make up a ton of hitting and pitching" I take it as I read it. So you are saying this team lost tons of hitting and pitching. And you are complimenting five players?? What about the rest of the team? This is why your thread was deleted yesterday. Yes, they will be missed but it was their choices. They are great players and very good kids. But this team will adjust. If you know any of the players in the team now, baseball is their life. Do not underestimate them. They knew from the start who was not playing or did not want to play this year. This is an awesome team. And they have a lot of hitting and pitching. 8)
  2. Baseballfan, it is obvious that a kid you know did not make the team this year. Blame the coaches that did not voted for him. The fact remains that Freeman, Pitts and Brown did not want to play all stars this year. It is their choice and not the rest of the team. Of the seven kids that did not make the team this year, two did not play league, three opted out of all stars and the other two did not get enough votes to make the team. For what I remembered from last year all stars, it did not happened the way you posted. But it is ok, we are not going to say who play and who did not, just go back to last year threads - one will see by themselves. The eight remaining kids from that all star team, will give their hearts out and will play hard to represent this league and win. It is not purple and white or black and gold or blue and red. It is the NEDERLAND 15 Year old Allstar team. Ask any of them, they will miss some players, but they got past that. This year team gain valuable players and an awesome coach.. I invite you to go to see one of their practices. It may surprise you. Please be a good sport and wish them well.
  3. Contact information, please??
  4. Please read the article on the Port Arthur News today. You will get a great response as to why Sparrow or Knox did not pitch. Aplause to 8great. This is why some teams don't make it far. Parents talked, talked, second guess decisions(of course they can do it better), can't keep their thoughts to themselves, share them with others(including their kids) and of course, their kid is the best out there. At the end, the experiences gained is all they will have. Congratulations to all!! I know it does not take two kids to make a baseball team. Last time I checked, it takes 9 to win a game, but it take 15(plus parents and coaches) to win championships. GO TEAM! Make us Proud. Bring home the big trophy.
  5. MC beating El Dorado 6-0. Sammy Sparrow is pitching.
  6. Thank you so much. Awesome group of boys. Good Luck this summer!! ;D
  7. ??? Who are you talking about? Name some of the players. I am anxious to see their names and what tournaments will they be playing at??
  8. For the past five years, Groves National LL has gotten kids from Pony(Groves American) and lost some(good players) to select. I believe that the league volunteers have made an outstanding job attracting Groves kids to play there. The proof is that the 2006 GNLL team(Section 2 Champions, Texas East Champions and finalist at the SW Regional Tournament) was the same 9 year old all star team that lost in the District Championship game to Nederland North. But with the addition of three players from Groves American, the change on the eligibility date(birthday) and with six of them playing select ball, they became who they are the only team from this area to make it that far in the Regional Little League Tournament. All of the six had a choice, play select or play little league. They chose little league(and we are proud of them for that) Note: that 9year old Nederland North team lost key players to select ball who probably would have helped them that year(pure speculation). Groves National won District 12 last year and yes, it is true they did not have a nice outing going into the Sectionals, but nobody was giving them a chance to win district either. And we are as proud of them too(two district champions in two years). Bridge City and Nederland will always be good because of the amount of parents they have volunteering each year who really care. It takes a lot of work to be involved in Little League but the memories are forever. I am not saying the other leagues may not have the same. You may not believe this, District 12 is one of the strongest districts in this side of Texas. Keep it that way!
