COLDSPRING AT LC-M BROADCAST/LC-M WINS! 35-20
griff replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats LCM. The sissy tackling continues the turnovers continue and 5th string rb attempting 2pt conversion? I want to throw up.
5th string? Please... ::) Could it be Coldspring is just having a down year? It happens to all good and great programs. Still...35 points on THIS team? In...cred...i...ble. Congrats to the Bears! -
I agree with you that "NO" Team in the area (GT) has much of a chance to reach the title game muchless win a state championship. But I can promise you this, teams around the state of Texas know who WOS and Newton are. Regardless if they make it to that title game are not. Even "NOW" as you say they know and they also know they will have a battle on their hands. I agree WOS has not made the noise in 3A like everyone thought but that being said anything can happen on any given friday night. Did not read the whole thread got in on the end but just an observation that If kids do quit the mustang program and I am sure they do, it is because they could not handle the hard work or discipline that is required to succeed. I say let them quit and if you only have 11 left then that 11 will fight till the end. It is all about being hungry and motivated. Some kids have it, some don't. Plain and simple.
Well said. Mr. mightymouse, there is no reason for WO-S or any other 3A team to play a 5A school. Even though I'm sure WO-S would make it interesting against teams like PAM and WB, there is no meaningful objective except to discover how well a 3A school could hang with the bigger schools, and that accomplishes nothing in the long run. But, I think you and many others would be surprised at how strong the level of play is among the really good 3A schools. There are a handful that could beat more than a few 5A schools. I'm not saying WO-S could beat PAM, but I am saying they would provide strong competition. By the way...just for the record, the first time WO-S scrimmaged PAM a few years back, WO-S outscored them 20-7. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it did happen. I found it amusing that you said, "LCM is on the rise." It is true that some kids quit WO-S football because they cannot handle to workout and disciplinary demands from the program and coaches. That's been the case since 1984 and it will continue as long as Cornel Thompson is there.

Vidor is good, but some of you made way too much out of the scrimmage with WO-S. It was a SCRIMMAGE. A few of your fans are trying to create a "win" out of this practice. Nothing about that practice is parallel to a real game. No game planning by coaches, lots of extra substituting, trying out players at different positions, JV players being used, no turnovers can be returned for TDs (in which WO-S had one nullified), a starting tailback and our best OL not playing...yeah, I'd like to see what it would be like in a REAL game. If both teams could play at full strength with a week of coaches preparations, THEN we would see who would win. But since it ain't gonna happen, dream on about your "win." I'm more interested to see if you can 1) beat Nederland, 2) win a district title outright, and 3) play some consistent defense for an entire regular season and into the playoffs. You've had ONE notorius year, but it takes a lot more than that to gain the respect you're demanding. You're not there yet. My point was not about WO-S, but that Vidor has much to prove this year, and that starts with trying to beat Nederland and not hanging on to a little scrimmage as proving how good they are.
about as senseless as some one starting a thread claiming WOS 20-4A champs, right?
Yeah, I agree with that, and I said so earlier (I didn't start this thread). We only beat two of the bottom teams in that distrcit and one playoff contender. A little late to the party, but that's OK.
and i agree one good season aint enough considering the teams in the area. however, we are looking to change that and fully understand it begins with Nederland. I'd go as far to say this will be the biggest game in Vidors history come 28 sept. alot of questions will be answered that night.
Good perspective. Go do it and make believers out of us. It's there for the taking. -

You've had ONE notorius year, but it takes a lot more than that to gain the respect you're demanding. You're not there yet.
I don't think the Pirates are looking for respect from you, they will just keep playing one game at a time and doing what they do, which so far this season is win football games. As for the defense it took them 3 deep into the playoffs last yr. I think that's pretty consistent, can they beat Nederland we'll see in 2 weeks, and a district title is not out of the question. And as for Vidor fans being this yrs. L-train, well with one post you put down two schools so I guess that makes you feel better about yourself. Respect of teams on this board is not what matters, respect is earned on the field of play.
Exactly...and you might try some of that therapy on handful of your Vidor bretheren who demand so much respect...MORE than has been earned so far. You're obviously bothered by a perception of a lack of respect from me about Vidor's team. I do respect what Coach Matthews has done there and last year's run was fun to watch. But, according to a few of your pals, the Pirates should be given much more recognition than has been received so far...see previous posts about getting no love from Dave Campbell, setx posters, etc. I'm not convinced (yet) you have a good enough defense to carry you on another hot streak of wins through the playoffs, but hey, prove me wrong. They gave up too many points last year. Since you've become a better program starting in 2008, defense has been the weak link in Vidor's armor. Same thing with a district title...go win it. It hasn't been done yet. 20-4A looks to have a down year, so the opportunity is there for the Pirates. As for the L-Train fans from year's back, that was hilarious to watch. Sorry if you've forgotten what that was all about. It's not about putting down their fans, but watching the hype and air quickly go out of that balloon. Hey, Lumberton is the team that woke us up in 2000 on our way to a state title run...they outplayed us in a scrimmage that year. Does anyone from Lumberton remember the "score", in case there are scrimmage statisticians who want to know? ;) -

FYI genius, we've been pretty good since '08 and this will be our 3rd time to make the playoffs. Lumberton had one exceptional group of kids. During the course of that time, WOS has failed to beat us in any scrimmage, I know because I've to all of them. We're free this Friday, I really wish we could play the game and shut your pipsqueak school up. To quote Aerosmith,"Dream On".
I'll repeat...you've had ONE exceptional year. You went a few rounds deep in the playoffs last year. Before that, just making the playoffs was quite a miracle in Vidor. You still haven't won a district title all to yourself and haven't shown the ability to stop anyone with your defense in district games nor in the playoffs. The Pirate program has improved much from decades past (kudos to Coach Matthews), but you still have a lot to prove. Still, according to a few of you, there’s a cockiness and demand that you be given the same respect of teams who’ve done much more than Vidor’s history shows, just like the L-Train fans of a few years back. And since you’re so proud of these little scrimmages, where you love to keep score, WO-S “won†last year’s glorified practice 20-17. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to point out your errors, even though you’ve been to all of the scrimmages. But, we don’t care…it still means nothing…it’s a SCRIMMAGE. You’re starting to make a Nederland fan out of me. -
