1. Proud of the Pirates!  WO-S fans are rootin' for ya!
 2. Glad you got to see them play in person, Judex.
 3.
Columbus should have something come down on them from the uil. Even their coach is a punk. PUNK. Gives #24 a high five after he gets ejected for punching our freshman qb 3 times. Garbage!!!!! All of them.
This sounds worse than (former) Giddings Head Coach Fitzhenry.
 4.
It is a pretty strong statement to say that one play won a game.  But for sure that play did turn the game around.  I think Jasper was up 9-0 at the time?  Momentum changed for sure.
It is accurate to say that play was the difference because we won by six points.  When you look at the entire game, Jasper outplayed WO-S in the first quarter (lead 9-0), WO-S was sharper in the second and third quarters (went ahead 21-9), then Jasper made a run in the final quarter (21-15 final score).  It was a hard fought game, but WO-S was just a little bit better.  To this day, that is still the best Jasper team WO-S ever faced.  Remember, they whipped us good earlier that season at Mustang Stadium.
 5.
this is not the first time these two teams have meet is it
Yes, it is.  WO-S has never played Columbus, but we have played West Columbia.
We ran the guard around for a TD late in the first half that got called back because our guard had his knee down when he picked up the ball.  UGH!  WOS was a very worthy opponent, because we were in a very tough district at that time, and really expected to win that game.  Oh well....we had a good year.
It's interesting to hear you bring up that play.  We used the exact same play two weeks later in our rematch with Jasper.  It Worked.  We scored.  Thanks to that play we won the game.

 8. Congratulations Vidor from a WO-S fan.  We're happy for you and representing Orange County.  Keep it going.
 9. Thanks for the regular updates.  Is Chase back in the game?  Did he throw the screen pass for the TD?
 10. kicker, we're playing "HJ" not "HF".  I could say there's either a problem with your "P's" and "Q's", but it's actually your "F's" and "J's".  ;-)
 11.
WOS wants no part of Stephenville or Brownwood.
Aside from the fact that we've had a down season relative to past years, we would normally compete very well with Brownwood and Stephenville.  Dare I say it to you...Mr. Central/West Texas...we would win some of those.  We took a formidable 4A state semi-finalist Friendswood to the wire last year.  Outside of travel cost considerations, Coach Thompson would not be shy about playing either one of those teams.
 12.
I can certainly agree with AAW concerning the blocked FG,but outside of that call it was the worst officiating I have ever seen! stigers I dont know what else you could ask for! waving flags off, not my call, etc. That was horrible. Good luck to the tigers the rest of the way. :-\
Nope, they missed the blocked FG, as well.  The ball was blocked by Silsbee, bounced around some players in the end zone, was grabbed by a Silsbee player (which by rule now makes this anyone's ball for the taking...plus the Silsbee player did not have possession), then a WO-S player took it away and gained the final possession.  The call should have been a TD.  The ref closest to the play signaled a TD, but then the conference changed the call.  They looked clueless about what to do.  Also, keep in mind that the play happened nearer to the WO-S sidelines, so we had a better angle than the Silsbee fans.  Bottom line...they blew the call and did an overall terrible job calling the game.  You're always going to have questionable calls in ANY high school game, but when it's as bad as last night, it's worth the topic of discussion.  The fact that we won the game doesn't excuse the bad officiating.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention to the ones your talking about but I saw pass interferences called correctly and the right call on the field goal block. You won so why worry about the refs? WOS has a good team, they just lack discipline.
Are you serious?  Silsbee was given a bad call on an intentional grounding (the QB was way outside the pocket).  Other than that, the refs gave several bad calls to WO-S.  The one that was most ridiculous was the tackle out of bounds by a Silsbee player.  I player tackled was slammed near the edge of the track.  The ref told our HC that it was the job of the sideline judge to make that call, and he didn't see it, all the while the ref explaining this DID see it and didn't call it!  Incompetence at it's finest.  The blocked FG attempt was CAUGHT by WO-S in the end zone.  The first ref to rule on it got it right...he signaled a TD. The pass interference was made on a player who had his face toward the passer the whole time and never ran into the receiver.  It was a solid defensive play, and the ref blew it.
The rule on blocked FG's is that it is a dead ball if the blocked field goal advances past the line of scrimmage up until the defending team touches the ball first(after the initial block), then it is considered a live ball and the kicking team can recover and advance the ball. In the case last night, the kick was blocked, the ball advanced past the line of scrimmage, and was caught in the air by a WOS player before a Silsbee player touched the ball. The ball is considered dead. The refs got that one right. Silsbee's ball on the 20. Example: remember the Leon Lett Thanksgiving snow game against Miami. ;)
I'm familiar with that rule.  The ball touched two or three people (including a Silsbee player) after the initial block, therefore, it was a free ball.  Should have been a TD for WO-S.

 15.
WOS Chain Gang Defense stepped up in the 2nd half, virtually shutting down the Tigers. The 3rd quarter was purely dominant by the Mustang defense. Silsbee only had 6 offensive plays in that quarter, gaining a minus 2 yards. Silsbee had a -16 yards rushing in the second half after gaining 100 yards in the first half. Silsbee did throw for 200 yards for the game, ending with a total of 284 yards of offense. WOS's offense finally decided to go to the run game after their first two offensive possessions were 3 and outs, and it paid off dearly. Mustangs rushed for over 250 yards, exploiting the Tiger's defense in the middle, with Lindsey and Salter having very good games on the ground. Salter did pass for 95 yards and a TD. Silsbee's defense just wore down in the second half. Silsbee's offense relied on the big play tonight and had it not been for 4 big plays, the Tiger offense would have been shut out. Just too much speed on that Mustang D. It should also be noted that penalties killed the Mustangs tonight. Had it not been for some very untimely penalties on WOS, the Mustangs probably win this game by 3-4 TD's. Congrats WOS on a very good game and win. You were clearly the better team. Congrats on your district championship. Silsbee, keep your head up. Got one game left and a win over Hamshire-Fannett will send you guys to the playoffs once again.
You won back some respect with that post.  Nicely stated.
:-X
Zipped lips?  Don't you want to know the injury report on WO-S?  Maybe an update on players promoted from the JV/Freshman team?  How about an age verification?  Did anyone else quit the team?  Who's gonna play QB this week?  Has anyone else transferred to another school?  And was it related to athletics or academics?  Do the cheerleaders have their routines ready for the next game?  How tasty were the WO-S turkey legs last night?  You mean you haven't found (or should I say "created") a headline taking jabs at WO-S yet?  It's already Saturday.  You're laying down on the job.  We're waiting with baited breath for the newest show of "concern" expressed in a harmless inquisition about WO-S.  After all...don't your initials "AAW" stand for "All About WO-S?"
 18. Does anyone have scores on the 7th and 8th grade games?
 19.
OK, time to finally drop WOS out of the polls.  Good grief.  ::)
Nobody cares about that silly poll. The problems on offense are serious.  If you toss out the Jasper and Kirbyville games, the only time we've looked pretty good on offense was the first game of the year against Nederland.  In all the other games where we faced good competition, our offense has gotten progressively worse.  This isn't working.  The offense is still making too many of the kind of mistakes that should be ironed out by now - penalties, bad snaps, turnovers, miscommunication on the play calls, etc.  Also, we are not built to be a "run up the gut" offense.  Our tailbacks are not right for that style.  We've got so much speed to burn...why aren't we running sweeps and using the outside where our backs have space to run and create separation?  Throwing the ball a little more would also help us.  Please, Mr. OC, get a better read on our personnel and maximize our strengths.

 22.
LCM needs to make better play calls in the red zone, especially inside the 5 yrd line area! Just pound up the middle instead of the outside where you lose yardage. Overall the bears didn't execute when they needed to, and the out come is a lost to a very talented team... Ozen
Interesting...some things never change.
