Actually it is not more than I know.  I knew that was the excuse given, but I also know that he backed out on a commitment that he had made with Dayton.  If they wanted so much to renew this rivalry then they should have waited one more year and put it on the schedule for a regular season game so they can charge and have a big gate.  Jack - I do live around Dayton but have ties to many programs in the area due to job.  Thanks for asking.
It turns out that this whole situation IS more than you know.  You see, Coach Crouch (from LCM) made the decision to drop WO-S from the regular season schedule, therefore, the only way for WO-S to renew playing LCM is to make a scrimmage.  The WO-S coaches enjoy the Dayton matchup, but playing LCM is more attractive.  It's a game with local rivalry, community support, short travel for both teams, strong gate receipts and concessions.  Besides, dropping a scrimmage is no big deal.  If this was a regular season game, then your gripe would've been more credible.  It's only March and there's plenty of time for Dayton to find a new opponent...for a scrimmage.  Your use of "excuse given" and "backing out" is silly.  I'm sure WO-S will eventually restart an annual meeting with Dayton, but the chance to lock horns with LCM again was something the WO-S coaches didn't want to miss.
 2. Why did anyone bother responding to this guy?  Isn’t his EIGHT years of spewing hate against WO-S enough?  Haven’t we all seen a midget with PMS?  They’re all the same.  Just ignore him.  ;D ;D
 3.
Silsbee and HJ take notice! WOS is here to play!
Sure, but what's most important is the number of starters we have returning on NEXT year's basketball team.  After all...now is the time to be talking about that.  Hey, Coop, how many is it?  13? 19?  ;) Just havin' a little fun wit cha.  Happy New Year!
To site Louisiana as an example as they are allegations of buying championships is rampant there.  West Monroe and Acadiana, unfortunately are not Louisiana's best teams.  They may be among them but the best teams in Louisiana, but the best team in Louisiana is John Curtis, a private school that because of it's population gets to play in the 2A ranks.  They are allowed to recruit and can draw folks away from the public schools. I am vehemently opposed to the UIL allowing private schools into it's membership.  If it does occur, it must happen in the same fashion as Dallas Jesuit and Houston Strake Jesuit were admitted...that is if they come in, they play in the highest classification. Now, finally as to your charge that WO-S is recruiting.  It rings of sour grapes from North of I-10 as there is a school in Orange County that has been able to boost its football team because of open enrollment.....the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears.
Yes, sir, that's exactly the method that should be used - making the privates play in the highest classification.  Strake Jesuit went "public" in their athletic competition a few years ago, and they are in the same division with the Alief schools.  That's the way it should be, if done at all.  Grad, let's also remember, concerning the open enrollment comment pointing to WO-S, that the majority of football players who who transferred to LCM from WO-S (and there have been more than a few over the years) were not able to accept the disciplinary demands placed on them in the WO-S program.  Sour grapes is correct.  ::)
wow!! i am in jasper and i dont know much of wos player history before u all dropped down to 4a in the late 80s but i do know from playing against the one mustang who as freshmen seemed like a man amongst boys and forgive me i mis spell name but Adrian Street was a helluva helluva!! unfortunatly my ole mind aint right and cant remember but did he ever go on play college ball? and didnt have a son who was just a mustang a few seasons ago??
His name was Adrian Steen.  He started for WO-S as a Freshman, which is almost unheard of at WO-S.  He was originally from California and moved back there after his Freshman year, which is why you never heard from him again.  'Not sure if he played college ball.  It was his son who played at WO-S recently.

And the DOGS WILL TOO!!!!!(UNDERDOGS)
Here we have it...another outsider crashes in to the SETX site with a rah-rah about their team during a 3rd round (or deeper) playoff game with one of our "locals".  'Happens every year.  This guy will do one of two things...1) if Carthage wins, he will not shut up for a week after the game and probably be unsportsmanlike toward the Coldspring fans or 2) if Coldspring wins, we will never hear from him again.  A flash-in-the-pan poster.
 7.
Just heard announcer for Brownwood say the state title game was played tonight between BW and Carthage. >:(
Yeah, that's because most people in the state don't know how good Coldspring is.  1) They did not receive preseason hype, 2) did not have a D1 all-stater with a familiar last name, 3) didn't win state last year, 4) and wasn't undefeated.  Without those attention-grabbing features, announcers and media types assume you're just another team.  ::) Coldspring's defense is slightly better than Carthage's and that will be the difference.  The Trojans win a close one...by three points or less.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D He's not the only horse lover.......man they are gonna win state every year if you ask them.  ;D ;D
Your persistence with that myth is downright stupid.  Kerry is in a world of his own as far as that goes.
 9.
I think the reason you're not getting much interest is because to the national media, the Golden Triangle is part of greater Houston.  And reporting that a lot of great athletes come from Houston is hardly newsworthy.
Bingo.  That's exactly the way the national media view SETX/the Golden Triangle.
 10. Very sorry about your loss, AAW.  Our dads mean so much to us all.  I pray God's peace will endure beyond your grief.
 11. Congratulations to Brookshire Royal.   This was a tough loss to swallow.  In my opinion, we lost this game in the first half.  The biggest reason was our defense doing a poor job of wrapping up the RB Williams.  Yes, he's as good as we've seen all year, but last year we shut him down.  We could've done much better.  We were tackling high and didn't seem to have intensity early on defense.   Additionally, 1) the six or seven turnovers really hurt; 2) the faked punt at our nine yard line (which was NOT called by the coaches); and 3) not attepting to return BR's final punt in the game that pinned us back deep were all contributing factors to losing this game.  If we would have corrected any one of those errors, the outcome probably could've been different.  Still, what stands out to me most is the bad defensive play in the first half.   This was a very winnable game, but all it takes is one flat perfomance in the playoffs and you're done.  Now we're sitting home like Brenham and The Woodlands.  I hope the winner of the Kirbyville vs. Coldspring game wins it all.   It was cool to see both teams after last night joining together and saying the Lord's Prayer.  Thanks to the BR coaching staff and players for joining our team in that show of support.  Even though we're exitting too early, this has been a memorable year that will affect our team, coaches, and community for a lifetime.
 12.
WO-S barely beat Silsbee so they really had to know it would end early.. 8)
What? That game wasn't close at all.
 13. Skip, you can start a random subject unlike anyone else on this board.
 14. The fact is that every year Division 1 colleges sign more players from TEXAS than any other state.
 15. Coldspring wins this one easy.  Columbus is not a strong playoff team and Coldspring is on a roll.
 16.
Well, there is some truth in your post regarding the BR game. Yeah, Im sure that WOS will come out on top.. but where it gets a lil funny is the state championship game. Never forget.. they gotta get past us to get there  ;D ;D BTW: I was at the WOS/Liberty game (Im sure some Liberty fans saw us.. we were sitting on your side in full Kirbyville gear ;) ) and I gotta say to WOS.. the two fumbles inside the 20 yd line could come back to haunt ya'll. It didnt affect the outcome of the game in any way, shape, or form.. but when you do that against a keyed in team.. they will benefit from those mistakes. Keep the ball in your hands.. run hard.. and we'll see you in a few weeks ;D
The coaches and players are fully aware of the turnover mistakes in the first quarter.  We really haven't had a turnover pattern all year, but thanks for your concern.  It will get corrected.  No guarantees for either team as far as making the state title game, or even the regional finals, which is where WO-S and K'ville would meet.  I'm not convinced Kirbyville will beat Coldspring a second time.  WO-S coaches and players are only thinking about BR, and that's the way we like it...the way it should be.
 17.
Actually the starters and some backups played all night last night the JV had there white helmets on the sidelines so maybee if some JV kids got varsity helmets and played then alright but last night not a single white helmet got in the game so no the varsity scored all of the points my friend but its ok they werent running up the score or anything not even against HJ 73-0 there just so good ya know? like there 9th string is about the same skill level as every other team in the states 1st string thats why they win 73-0 trust me its not because the starters stay in all  4 quarters in games that end at half time thats just absurd
Some of the JV players were given silver helmets last night because they played in a varsity game last week against HJ.  The two running backs we used a lot in the second half (#23 and #35) were JV players.
 18.
Different team this year and even better next year with all the returning starters.
Coop...you're already talking about NEXT year?  Right now?  We're in the middle of the playoffs NOW.  BTW...when will your "next year" ever become "this year"? If we lose in the playoffs, then you gotta say we didn't get it done when we had our chances.  You can't just point to next year.  When will this cycle ever end? Get with the HERE and NOW, will ya?
 19. The biggest surprise in those stats - only two penalties against Giddings.  Shocking.
 20.
state only team that will challenge them is WOS but i think they win that one in a close game---VERY close.
If Kirbyville wins this week, they will definitely be challenged by Coldspring in the next round.  No gimme for WO-S either.  We should beat Brookshire Royal this week, but Athens in the third round will be tough.
Well it's "official", a ref said it was so......... ;D ;D  Those clowns cant even call a decent game anymore. They are to worried about paying the UIL.... ;) I'll give WOS one thing for sure, they always "beleive"....just never do anything with it.  ;)  Guess they can always go clean their 1980's State sign near the stadium.   ;D ;D
Looks like you misspelled "believe", Jody.  Are you a little "short"-sighted?
UIL site has it at 60-0 ... you may wanna get them to change it.  ;) [Hidden Content] scroll down to region 3.
No kidding.  Can't mess up one of those pre-selected periods of time they love to quote stats from.   ;D ;D
Yeah, we'll always have statisticians from our school reminding you of the details.  In fact, we even keep track of the non-official stats like the two scrimmages where BH was run over by WO-S.  Remember those?  Or.....were you able to watch the game at all?  I mean......unless you're sitting on someone's shoulders, you probably couldn't see anything, right Jody?
