Poor little 'ole BH is being picked on again by the Big Bad Moderator Clan from East of the Trinity. What have they ever done to deserve this? :
-
It's a real honor for both Nederland and PNG to be invited. Also, I think the biggest factor (not the only factor) those two schools were chosen has more to do with their large following. The Reliant Stadium folks have a direct interest in filling the stands. Still, based on both schools' tradition and state recognition, Nederland and PNG are well deserving choices.

"BH shuffles 3 teams" (BH is only) "testing the kids" "...you may have did all of your scoring against 2nd and 3rd teamers" "...teams are practicing during a scrimmage" And the excuses continue. This scrimmage, even though it doesn't count in the record books, is a good measuring stick for what teams have to offer. The facts are WO-S moved the ball consistently on BH, and BH barely crossed the 50 yard line. It's obvious that if the two teams would have played in a REAL game, we know who would win. It's no surprise you continue to see the scrimmage through rose colored glasses since WO-S was the opponent. You know, and so does everyone else who reads your posts, that if BH would have "won" the scrimmage, you and your cohort would create 50 threads bragging about beating WO-S. THEN a scrimmage would mean the world to you.
-
Yeah...right. : The real problem here is that you and bh89-2 use every opportunity to discredit WO-S. Your team was beaten soundly and you're nowhere close to admitting that. If we lose to Dayton, there will be no dishonor in that, and it won't be a shock to any of us. We respect them. They have a good program and a solid team. 'Should be a hard fought game.

I stand corrected. You got something right for once. -
Thoughts and Comments On Your Team After First Scrimmage?

Amazing...a "below average team" beat an "average team" who "dominated their line on both sides of the ball." What are the odds? Alas, another ridiculous attempt to sound objective by bh89-2. Jody, how can you enjoy the game of football when you know so little about it? Stick to fishing. BHFAN and bh89-2 are now 2 for 2 in their annual tradition of "hate on WO-S" analysis. Congratulations, guys. You're batting 1.000 (that's a baseball term). -
Come on, Gas, don't you know after 3 or 4 years of this nonsense that BHFAN is just a bitter old fart? If "BH held their own", then I guess he was looking for something...ANYTHING...to cheer about after getting spanked...AGAIN...by the team he loves to hate. Got news for you, BHFAN. Gas and 92 are not looking for "everyone to jump up and down and talk about how good the great WO-S is". They were just looking for some honesty and accuracy, but you're not capable of that when it comes to WO-S because your mind is clouded with hate for the school and our fans. When will you ever let this go? Good luck to BH the rest of the way.

Who do you think will be 21-3a Champs for 07?

Planning on staying home Friday nights, huh wos08? -
Kirbyville is worthy of their pre-season ranking. They made a strong showing last year and with most of their team back, plus the confidence they've built in the last few years, I expect them to give us (WO-S) a run for their money. We'll see in November where they stand, but for now, they're deserving of the ranking.

Coaches Mount Rushmore..COACHING STAT INFO HERE
griff replied to PURPLE 4EVER's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Is there any love for Coach Wozniak from LCM? His head would look nice...sculpted with a screaming face and veins showing in the neck. I mean, when it comes to all time great coaches at LCM, he's the man. I hear the school is planning a Woz bobble head promotion at homecoming this year. -
AAW, that was choice! Thanks for the laugh. So true...

Whats your greatest coach's quote?

Bum Phillips coined some good ones in his coaching days. Once he complimented Don Shula by saying... "He can take his'n and beat your'n any day." -
Liberty Hill vs. Celina For 3A D2 Title
griff replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would expect to hear stupidity like this from you, Jody. The fact is, people from the Golden Triangle have seen a lot more football from other parts of the state than you or the BH people in the last 30 years. Give it up, man. When your team can learn how to beat the Kirbyvilles of the world, as well as teams from Beaumont, Lumberton, and Orange...you know...those teams east of your imaginary dividing line (the Trinity River) who beat you this year...then you MIGHT begin to have some credibility. Until then, we all know you're locked into a hatred for "us people" in The Golden Triangle (especially WO-S). If you ever travel outside of Boondocks Hill, you'll discover that many of the people who follow high school football are very familiar with WO-S, Beaumont West Brook, PNG, Nederland. Most of those same people have never heard of Barbers Hill. You must be so lonely. Your phony disguise of "objectivity" is so old. Why don't you just come out and admit it...you hate the Golden Triangle and the people who live there (especially Orange). -
You've developed into quite the doubter of WO-S athletics, haven't you scooter.

I have mixed feelings about this trade. The wild card to me is the additional pitcher Houston got from Colorado. Is he as good as Hirsch? If so, I can live with it. Taveras is a mixed bag. So much speed on the bases and in CF, but he hasn't done enough as a top of the order hitter. I am a bit miffed about letting Andy Pettitte go. It sounds like the Astros only had to meet Andy at $14 million instead of the $16 million the Yankees signed him for and he would have stayed here. There has to be more to this story than what we've been told. Talk in Houston was that Bud Selig came down on Drayton McLane about signing Carlos Lee to such a big contract and that may have contributed to Drayton staying put at $12 million for Pettitte. Still, we should have signed him. It's not likely Clemens would have come back for another year even if Andy stayed home, but that has a lot to do with why they chased Garland and eventually locked up Jennings. They were preparing for life without Roger, but losing Pettitte stings.

Man...it's been an unpredictable run in the 3A playoffs. Teams expected to go further fell short. First Gilmer, then WO-S, now Wimberley.

Someone earlier made the comment that if the spread offense is what got us here, what's the problem with running it deep in the red zone. That's not the issue. There is a time to abandon the regular playbook, and having the ball at the one inch line was a moment when we should have put the QB under center and run a QB sneak. We had four chances at this, and we blew it with dumb playcalling. One of the plays had the QB running a keeper up the middle...from the shotgun. That's unbelievable and unexcusable. This series gets most of the attention, but there are more storylines as to why we lost. In the previous series, we had the ball at the 9 yard line and didn't get it in. This would have been a time to line up in a power I backfield, which we do have in our playbook, and take four shots at it. The reverse on 4th down was dumb. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, but this simple geographical truth was never utilized in 8 tries within the 10 yard line. This Giddings team was almost identical to the one we played last year. Their defense was a little better, but not great. They won because they executed better than we did, and our lack of execution was more a result of shooting ourselves in the foot than what Giddings threw at us. There were so many moments when we had receivers open, but Bevil had an off night throwing the ball. He's been so dang accurate all year, but misfired in this game. In the first half, he had Earl Thomas wide open running down the sideline in what would have been an easy TD. We made mistakes in this game that we haven't made all year (even the Giddings coach noted that), most notably snapping the ball over the punter's head. That was a gift. Giddings got the ball at the 17 yard line and eventually scored. We had too many bad snaps and momentum killing penalties. However, we overcame most of this and STILL had a chance to win or tie late in the game. What we could not overcome was the playcalling. The OC has shown a pattern of cracking in big game situations. I'm of the opinion that he doesn't deal well with thinking fast and clearly in pressure situations and big games. The problems (with the OC) being discussed on this thread have been repeated since the 2000 season. We tend to become too conservative and predictable in big games. I believe we will continue to fall short of expectations as long as he is calling the plays.

WO-S 60 Liberty 0 Final/Comments
griff replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Further proof of the good sportsmanship by both teams was the low number of penalties. Yes, the game was a blowout, but it was played cleanly. You hope for that in every game. -
I know this guy didn't play football...but didn't Kerry Cooper transfer to WO-S from LCM? I'm just yanking your chain, Coop.

I can't argue with many of the names mentioned here. My vote would be for Bickham at Deweyville. Speaking of coaches...did anyone see the "Dan Hooks" injury that Joe Paterno endured Saturday? Broken leg, torn ligament, and all...and he still walked the sidelines after the injury. The man is nearly 80 years old! He is the definition of "old school".
