Great game dogs. Dionte, if you read this, thanks for being the sparkplug that this team needed. You throw the ball really well and step into the pocket nicely. Defense was awesome tonight. Man, I can't believe that Vidor band kept playing while we were trying to run plays on offense......geeezz!! ;D
I knew that someone was going to mention this...but considering all the talk earlier this week on here...you really cant blame you.

Congrats to all the Everyone in the Playoffs last weekend. I have to throw out a special shout-out to RB and Bridge City Cardinals for making my predictions not-correct. Kudos to you and all your boys. However, I am sticking to my prediction of WOS-White beating LUM-White in the SuperBowl.... Good Luck to Everyone.

I understand what you are saying, and I hope I was not one of those guys. But I have another question. What about now? The State Rankings at www.texashsfootball.com are the most comprehensive that I have found. PNG, Vidor and Lumberton all were highly ranked during Pre-District play and Central was nowhere in the Top 40 (not even anywhere in the Top 15 of the Region). Central keeps winning...still no ranking. And just last week do they break into the Top 40 at #35 only 3 spots ahead of Vidor. Maybe I am overly impressed with the team, but considering their playoff run last year and their impressive record this year versus a strong schedule, I am more than a little surprised to have them ranked so low. Do you have any idea why? Another question is why is Vidor been treated just the opposite this year on the site (you know I am a Vidor fan and not complaining). But considering Vidor's history, you would think Central would be given more respect than Vidor.

LCM vs. Vidor for homecoming
daddy23 replied to vidor96pirates's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Missed the PNG game (out of town), but I sure hope that Vidor can rebound emotionally from the beatdown. Then I see that LCM clearly figured something out at halftime against Livingston. The results from this past weekend really make me see the contest as closer than I had previously imagined. I think Vidor is still a solid favorite, but if the Pirates do not come ready for a fight, then Vidor is in trouble. Vidor by 10 would be the line...IMO -

Congrats on a solid showing. -
I will throw my prediction into the mix. WOS-White over Ned-White. WOS will overcome their early morning start time to win easily. The only question is does the mercy rule apply during the playoffs? This game could get out of hand. PNG-White over Bridge City. This game should be the closest match-up of the day. Both teams are very well coached and are full of very talented boys. PNG-White has not given up points to anyone except the #1 and #2 seeded teams. I think PNG-White comes out on top of this battle. LUM-White over WOS-Blue. WOS gets an unfortunate draw here and they have a chance to pull off the upset. However, the week 3 (38-6) victory by LUM will be hard for the boys to overcome just a few weeks later. And LUM-White went undefeated through a difficult schedule--they have earned their #2 seed. Ned-Gold over Orangefield. This is a rematch of week7 where NED won 21-2. I have not seen either of these two teams play, but I think NED wins the rematch as well. And to keep the predictions coming. WOS-White and LUM-White will win again next week forcing a match-up of the #1 and #2 in the Power Rankings (they have been #1 and #2 since the Power Rankings started). This should be a very good football game. But in the end, WOS-White gets my pick. They are not one-dimensional. They play hard on both sides of the ball and they are very deep at every position. One or two injuries or one or two bad breaks should not make a difference. My Prediction: WOS-White = SuperBowl Champs.

If this thread is any indication of what the PNG coaching staff is thinking (and I cannot believe that to be true) then I predict that Vidor will score not one buy 2 TDs through the Air at the reservation on Friday night....I hope that the Vidor D can "bend and not break" again and we come out with a win like we did against Lumberton. PNG turned me into a believer last week with the Livingston Game. This game could go either way. I think the Indians are the narrow favorites (espicially playing at home), but it really could go either way.

STJFL Jr Playoff and Power Rankings
daddy23 replied to daddy23's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Two big games this week featuring 5-2 teams in the Jr Division: Nederland White vs WOS-Blue. The winner will claim the first wild card spot (likely). The loser will find themselves in a Tie for the last Wild Card Spot and be in jeopardy. PNG-White vs Vidor-White. The winner will claim the #2 spot in Division 2. The loser will be tied for the last Wild Card Spot. So, let's hear some predictions on the two Games Of The Week. Who wins? High scoring or Low scoring? What does everyone think? -

STJFL Jr Playoff and Power Rankings
daddy23 replied to daddy23's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
kf, I appreciate you weighing in. However, why do you think that Head-to-Head is the first tie-breaker rather than Overall Record? I am curious because the only rules I can find say differently. Also, If Vidor White wins, they will not get the last Wild Card Spot. They will instead get the #2 spot from Division 2. The loser of the PNG-Vidor game will be in a Tie for the last Wild Card Spot. And I would think that PNG-White would get it if they lose based on Points Allowed. If Vidor loses, I would think that someone else from Division 1 would get the last Wild Card spot. But really the Points Allowed could change on Saturday. -

STJFL Jr Playoff and Power Rankings
daddy23 replied to daddy23's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Responding to a Question about Bridge City (to make sure that no one thinks that I am trying to single anyone out). I know that Bridge City has already beat the Ned-White and WOS-Blue and so you would think that Bridge City would automatically win a tie-breaker (should they lose, however unlikely) against either team. However, I copied the below information from the STJFL website about Tie-Breakers: Wild Card qualifications & tie-breakers will be: Best overall record Head to head (if teams played) Points allowed Coin toss I know it does not seem right, and I could be misunderstanding the rules, but it would appear the Ned-White or WOS-Blue (the winner, of course) would both win a tie-breaker over Bridge City. If someone knows that I am wrong, please speak up. I am just having fun figuring this stuff out. -

And Power Rankings will have to wait until after the Lumberton Red/Ned Black and the Little Cypress/PNG results come in. ;D -
Someone asked about the Playoff picture: Playoff Picture Division 1: Lumberton White has clinched the #1 spot and has completed a undefeated regular season. Look for them to get the #2 overall seed Bridge City needs to beat PNG-purple to lock up the #2 spot. Look for them to get the win and take the #2 spot. If they lose then the winner of the Ned-White and WOS-Blue could take the #2 spot. Division 2: WOS-White has locked up the #1 spot—even if they lose (like if their team misses the game). Based on Points Allowed, they will also claim the #1 overall seed. PNG-White and Vidor White are set to play in Week 8. The winner will get the #2 spot in the Division. The loser may still find themselves in the Wild Card Mix. Division 3: Nederland Gold is in and will get the #1 or #2 spot. If they win, they will get the #3 overall seed. If they lose, the tie-breaker scenarios get weird, but they will still be in the playoffs, win or lose this week. Little Cypress (assuming they beat PNG-Grey this week): If they win this week, they are in the playoffs. If they lose, then the winner of Orangefield and Kountze will be tied with 3-2 in the division. Then it depends on which tie-breaker is used. Wild Cards: WOS-Blue vs. NED-White. The winner of this game will qualify as the #7 overall seed with a 6-2 record. The loser will find themselves in a tie with the PNG-White vs. Vidor White loser. PNG-White has allowed the fewest points and would take the Wild Card even if they lose to Vidor. Otherwise, I think the WOS/NED loser will take the last Wild Card spot based on fewer points allowed than Vidor. However, that could change based on the Week 8 results.

WOS JR. WHITE - 41 VIDOR JR. WHITE - 0 GREAT JOB VIDOR WHITE! THEY WILL BE A TOUGH TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS TO BEAT. LIKE I SAID GREAT JOB VIDOR WHITE. Congrats to WOS-White...we knew that they would be big, strong, tough, fast and well-coached. We were not dissappointed. I am glad that our boys never quit. The boy that went to the hospital is fine, will be back on Monday. And I have to call out one kid from WOS: #52. The kid is simply awesome. I would be shocked if there is a better lineman anywere in the league. Good to hear # 5 is okay... 23 that running back #16 run hard the hole game we was very impress with his speed and heart. Tell him to keep working hard at what he got going. Like i said, ''GREAT JOB VIDOR WHITE.'' Thanks, and I will make sure to tell Mav what you said. He is a great little athlete.

Congrats to the Jags... I still think Lumberton is a near lock for the Playoffs. -
You know I am a pirate fan, but I don't think the whistle had blown and he waited for him to get up before he hit him again. However, I sure hope we focus on football commentary after the games. My thoughts were that conditions were simply terrible. I wouldn't read too much into anything that we saw tonight unless we have another night like this. Both teams had trouble holding onto the ball. Conditions took away the pass completely in the first half and made it very difficult in the second half. I am proud of Vidor for coming out on top. But I just don't know what Ozen would look like in different conditions. I hope Ozen wins a bunch from here on out.

The two Games of the Week have to be: Nederland White v Lumberton White WOS Blue v Bridge City Lumberton White is looking to finish a Perfect Season and take the #1 spot from Division 1. Nederland White is looking to rebound from thier first loss of the season last week. And Ned only needs one more win to clinch a Playoff Birth. WOS Blue and Bridge City both are strong teams with great records. This game could (no disrepect Ned-White) be the deciding factor for the #2 spot in the Division with the loser still alive for a Wild Card. Interestingly, all four of the above teams could make the playoffs in some of the scenarios. That would be four teams from the same division. And in other news, Divison 3 is crazy. Nederland Gold is undefeated in District play, but still have to play LC and OF (the two teams with only one loss in District play). Kountze and Vidor Black are also alive in the Division Hunt. It is very likely that only 2 of these four teams will make the playoffs (wild card very unlikely to come from Division 3). Good Luck to All of the Teams.

Central vs. Lumberton Predictions?
daddy23 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Both Football teams are good. I would not be completely shocked if Lumberton wins. However, my money would be on Central. However, no disrespect to the Lumbertown Band, but that cannot even compare to the entertainment offered by the Central Halftime show.
