Groves at 3:30....Lazeek, I have lost your e-mail...e-mail me at [email protected] and I will reply with a both brackets. Be glad to do that for anyone.
-
7....only 1 groves team and no PA team to go with 2 teams from Orange, TC, and Vidor. Brackets are out, but I cannot post them due to uploader being full.
-
Late to the thread, but really enjoyed the scrimmage last week. The Twin County team is solid all the way around. The brackets are out for both Shetland and Pinto. I tried to attach them, but the uploader is still full. Good Luck to All the Teams.

Lazeek, Your question got me thinking about the Vidor All-Star team. I told you that 4 of the boys played on the Pinto All-Star Team last year. What I thought was interesting was that 5 of the boys did not play on any All-Star team last year and 3 of the boys have never played on an All-Star team in Baseball (IIRC) even though they have all been playing Vidor Pony for years. That means that you will see a fresh look (in a way) on the Vidor Team. I don't mean to read anything into this. Just thought it was interesting from a statistical perspective. You would expect to see many of the same boys on the All-Star teams year after year.

I hate that we never got a chance to play at Ford Park. We just did not have enough time and needed the USSSA events. How many outfielders are you playing at Ford Park, and what distance are the bases? We are still learning what will go on in USSSA but we will know better after this weekend. 10 teams from three different states playing in the Governor's Games this weekend. It should be fun for the kids.
-
No Sulfur...I wish we could play at Ford Park, but we need the USSSA events in preparation for the World Series on July 5th--not much time to work them all in. How about yall?
-
To be more accurate: 2 of the Shetland B Team boys made the B Team in Pinto this year. However, most of the 7 year-olds from last year were Unavailable for All-Stars this year.
-
Congrats to the Red Sox.... Great group of kids (notice that I didn't say boys) and coaches.
-
Vidor announced All-Stars last Friday and I think everyone is going well. However, I am not involved and so I don't know for sure if the teams are still set the same. 4 boys from last year's Pinto Championship All-Star team will return to the A team this year. I think they are going to be really solid from top to bottom. I do know that none of the boys who played on last year's Shetland Championship All-Star team are playing on either Pinto All-Star team this year. Good Luck to Everyone.
-
Congrats to all the boys and dads that worked so hard. Good Luck in the Tourney, but you know I am pulling for the Vidor Boys.
-
congrats

The coach of the Vidor Pinto All-Star team asked me to post a request for a scrimmage. They have a solid team that may well give any select team around a decent work-out. I would be glad to try to help connect you to Coach Lance, or you could contact him directly by e-mail. [email protected]

Congrats Lazeek...TC All-Stars going to have a ton of Power Hitters
-
3 out of the 4 games tonight were 1-run games..... And the TC Storm unfortunately ran into a GREAT defensive perfomance tonight by the Vidor Astros. They did not deserve to leave the tournament as early as they did. Congrats to all the teams that have played so well.
-
Me too...seems like he hits it a ton everytime he comes up with.
-
Congrats to the Angels. They have an awesome team. We really thought we had a shot at it tonight. We started strong but the Angels finished much stronger than we started. They earned and deserved their hats tonight. Many thanks to Port Arthur. They did a great job hosting the tournament this week. Thank you very much for making the tournament possible for all of the kids.

Lazeek, Vidor certainly seems to be strong based on the Director's Tournament outcome. Next you have to look back 2 years and remember that Orange had an awesome Shetland All-Star team that was barely edged out by Vidor. Had it not been so wet, you could have had a different outcome. I have reason to believe that most of those kids are still in the league and they were spread out among the Orange teams. Add in a very savy, veteran coach and I think Orange will be in the mix. Twin County's team finished 3rd that year. It seems to me from watching in Port Arthur this weekend that they have a number of very big bats. Combine that with the fact that I did not get to see the Rockhounds (which has some big bats as well). Last year's Shetland All-Star team was strong and I am sure that some 7 year olds will help. I don't know who will be the coach, but they have lots of coaches with lots of experience. Port Arthur looks to be the most improved from 2 years ago. Just look how much stronger the Shetland team was last year compared to the year before. From what I can tell, no one will have bats bigger than them. They have lots of kids that can make incredible plays. And if The Goat is promising a personal touch, then Upgrade them right there. Groves has clearly lost numbers. I have to think that based on that alone that it would be hard for them to compete, but I have not seen any of their teams. Just my 2 cents

Just heard that all games were called off tonight. The whole tournament schedule has been pushed back 1 day.
-
And I hope that the Rays lost to the best team in the Tournament in the first round. Goat, you need to chalk it up to bad draws not bad performance. Lazeek, maybe just bad luck. :-*

I did not get to see all the games but Twin County had some big hitters in Pt Arthur spread out among the different teams. And I hear that Orange has their talent spread out nicely too. However, it is hard to argue with 6 out of the final 6 teams. I will even say that Vidor has to be the early All-Star favorites. Last thought: It has been very nice to see so many coaches from so many different cities having fun together. Everyone wants to beat each other on the field but no one seems to want to beat anyone up after the game. That is unfortunately not always the case but I have seen so much positive vibes on the sidelines from almost all of the teams. Everyone deserves a pat on the back. I personally have really enjoyed seeing so many friendly and familiar faces this tournament.
-
Thanks. It was a big win over an Elite team from Orange. Credit to the Red Sox who showed lots of heart to fight back after we jumped ahead 5-0. Congrats to all the Vidor Teams that are still in and everyone who has come and enjoyed the great hospitality and environment. Pt Arthur has done a great job. See everyone Tuesday.
-
Congrats to all 7 Vidor Teams that were able to pull off the victory and advance to Sunday. Also, props to The Ghost and the PA Rays. They hit and played hard, but so did we. Great job to both teams.

A couple of corrections...First, Tex Coug was right (as usaul) about Vidor 4 being White SOx and Vidor 5 being Cardinals. Secondly, Tex Coug is the HC / Manager and brainchild behind the Cubs program this season and also the keeper of the hitting facility. I merely lead the cheers and keep my arm waving over there at 3rd base. How does Tex Coug fly under the radar so much? You guys really need to get to know him better.... And good luck to all the teams and thanks in advance The GOAT and everyone else from PA putting this thing on. We may not last long enough to really enjoy it, but it is still appreciated.
-
And the Cubs batting facility has been moved to a more secure location for today and tommorow morning (since we play the late game). You will never find it no matter how hard you try

I understand that Vidor #4 is Cardinals and Vidor #5 is White Sox...
