  3. Congratulations Kaylon. Be Smart, there is a rumor going around that you are retiring. I truly hope that it is not true. Anyone who knows anything about softball in this area knows about your contribution to softball. Although you have not had a kid playing for some time, you have taken kids that other teams would not take and spent hours of your time teaching them the game. The fact that all your seniors are playing college ball is something everyone should take note of. Please don't give it up, you are one of the good guys in our game. There will be a void in softball in this area that cannot be filled. Thanks for all you have done and I hope continue to do. Ronnie Cole Stars Over Texas
  4. The YMBL has make a decision to allow us to play at Ford Park March 23 & 24 but no game can start after 2:30 P M on Saturday and Sunday both. Anyone who knows anything about softball knows that would not allow time to play any size event. This is unfortunate.  Last year we hosted this event with no problem.  They feel the parking lot might be needed for overflow parking. In anticipation of this, we took pictures of the parking lot last year and showed a parking lot that was 80-85 per cent empty. Not much overflow there, but their contract with the county allows them to call the shots. This is not a Ford Park problem, they tried to get it approved. One would think that 400-500 kids playing softball would be something they would approve of...but I guess not. "The Texas Open" has been moved to the Beaumont Municipal Athletic Complex and will be played on Complexes 1 & 2 (Fields A,B,C,D,E,F). Thanks to eveyone for your support of our events. 5. The USFA Winter World Series has been moved to Beaumont and will be held January 25-27 at Ford Park. All age groups 8U-18U. This tournament was held in Splendora last year and attracted 55 teams. We are happy to have this event here and hope our local teams will take advantage of a quality tournament held here locally early in the season. 6. Thanks to all who participated in our "Santa In Blue" tournament this weekend. More than 40 bikes and over $3000 in cash so far with more to come. In the next couple of weeks, we will be shopping, wrapping and delivering gifts for some 75+ kids. I think we all had a lot of fun with Santa in the park, but we found time for some serious softball as well. Here i the order of finish: 8U 1 M C Elite 2 Gulf Coast Gators 3 Texas Chicks 4 Texas Dirt Divas 10U 1 Texas Dirt Divas 2 007's 02 3 Corpus Christi Pride 4 Texas Dynasty 02 12U 1 GT Shockers 2000 2 Stingerz 2000 3 Bandits 4 TX Arsenal 14U 1 98 Worth Nola 2 Bullet 3 Lady Crushers 4 Pearland Z-Cats HIgh School 1 Impact Gold Elder 2 MC Elite 3 Texas Blackout 4 Bay Area Blitz I believe this was our strongest event ever as far as the competition was concerned, there were some great games played. Most of our local teams played and represented our area very well. The growth of softball in our area and the number of teams we have now is amazing. Thanks again to all of our local teams who played. 9. Our Blue Santa Bicycle Round-up tournament is November 9-11. This is a great event for a great cause. It benefits the BPD toys for needy kids program. We were able last year to provide a Christmas for some kids who would not have had one if not for this program. Our entry fee is $100 and a bicycle or $175 and we will buy a bicycle or other toys (video games, etc.)Over 50 teams are entered so far. 8U,10U,12U,14U 16U & 18U will play together Enter on the USFA website:  [Hidden Content] Ronnie or Nara Cole 409-753-3907 409-7826152

  12. Thanks for the help YG2009. Monday is a busy day for us after a tournament that large. We had 70 teams, a record for that kind of tournament for us. Finished about 8:30 Sunday night, I won't mention what time we got home. I have never seen that many people in the ball park, including  at our state tournament. It was nice riding to the park Saturday morning to see the hotel parking lots full and a number of team trailers visable to show who was there. I wan't able to get out of the ball park during the tournament, but I was told the girls in their uniforms and their parents were in our resturants, malls, etc. This kind of event is great for our local economy and we want to thank all that made this possible. We know that when our local teams are playing out of town, they invite teams to come to Beaumont. We know that because of them a lot of teams choose to play in our tournament here in Beaumont and we greatly appreciate and understand the importance of the help they give us in drawing teams. The really big news is that Texas teams won 4 of the 5 age groups. This is a much better result than in the past. Congratulations to all our local teams and a special pat on the back to GT Shockers '01who overcame a strong 19 teams 10U field to finish 1st. Thanks again, see you at State. Ronnie & Nara
