Anyone know the Stars over Texas Final results for 12U?
legend replied to Dottie's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
1 Texas Cobras 2 Cenla Softball 3 007s -
We ended up with 8 teams this weekend. When I first started these tournaments the 10U never made. We are excited about the 10U, our Summer tournament has 20 10U entered already. We have never had any 8U teams, so far in the Summer we have 9. The development of these younger age groups is very exciting and if you don't know it, they are highly skilled and all play very hard. Looking forward to Saturday!!!!!

USFA Tournaments draw teams. With the state tournament right here in Beaumont and Nationals in Florida, these tournaments attract teams from Louisiana as well as the Houston area and North and Central Texas. Our spring and summer tournaments already have over 20 teams in them. If you are interested in hosting a USFA state qualifying tournament, please contact: Ronnie or Nara Cole 409-753-3907 409-782-6152 - cell e-mail: [email protected]

Here is our STARS OVER TEXAS and FUTURE STARS 2011 schedule. Notice that the USFA STATE TOURNAMENT is here in Beaumont again this year. We have placed the tournament on two weekends this year so it can all be played at Ford Park. We also have two USFA NIT's as well, one in the spring and one in the fall. We do not have a date for our summer showcase yet, hope to have that soon. I urge all our local teams to register for 2011 if you havn't and go ahead and sign up for our tournaments now. In the fall we did have to close some age groups and I want our local teams in these events. We already have 17 in the March tournament and 14 in the May tournament. I'm very happy that we have some 8U entered, we are hoping some teams will start to develop in our area. Thanks YG2009, after a very long weekend, I need help. This was our most successful Future Stars Tournament. The 66 teams surpassed our 53 last year. I think this was the largest tournament in the younger age groups ever held in Beaumont. With the exception of Ronald McDonald, I do not know of a larger tournament in Houston in at least the last 5 years. We appreciate the support of our local teams very much(21 took part). Without our local teams, these kind of tournaments would not be possible, thanks again. We also had over 20 Louisiana teams. Our local teams did well, but it appears Louisiana won the battle of the states. They won 3 of the 4 divisions. Our only Texas winner was a North Texas team, Anderson Express Y2K from the Carthage area. More great softball at Ford Park this weekend. Our Stars Over Texas Fall Showcase will feature some very good teams. Some strong Louisiana teams (LA United Gold, DeJaVu Gold, Louisiana Express, Louisiana Patriots Gold and others) are going to be a real challenge for our local and Houston area teams. Weather again looks perefect I am hoping to watch some of the games myself. We have 2 events in November, hope everyone will enter those, they are already looking good. Thanks again for a great weekend of softball Ronnie and Nara

This tournament is attracting a lot of attention! As of now we have more entries than any other USFA event in the country. We have a lot of Louisiana teams and one team from Tennessee. I talked to a lot of Mississippi teams at the World Series in Florida and expect several to enter. We are trying something a little different in this one, we are offering 8U,16U & 18U as well as 10U,12U & 14U. The 12U looks like the largest age group, we have 13 or 14 already. I hope all of our local teams will enter soon, because it is a Sat & Sun only tournament, entries could be limited. Remember all our tournaments are sanctioned USFA, teams must register USFA in order to play. USFA requires teams to play in a state qualifier or NIT and attend the state tournament to qualify for the national tournament in Florida. Teams may also qualify for the national tournament by winning a NIT, if a team wins one it does not have to play the state. IFA offers bids to their nationals based on the number of teams in their qualifiers. Teams can also qualify with participation points (9 are required) by simply playing in enough IFA tournaments to achieve the 9 points. There is no requirment to place in a state or regional tournament. ASA is the only organization that has a strict qualifing procedure via state or regional tournaments. I believe this creates a niche for USFA and IFA because the ASA national tournaments are so hard to qualify for. Don't take me to task, Tigers9, about the level of play. I fully understand that, but it doesn't diminish the fact that these other organizations have a lot of participation. Tryouts!!! This issue comes up every year. I think it is a ASA thing, but I have to wonder how much it is enforced. Eteamz is flooded with tryouts that are going on now. Also I see teams that are going to a national tournament that are advertising for players. Some of these teams are Gold teams, including one of the Houston Power teams that is looking for 2 pitchers. So what is a tryout? Will these teams take these players across the country without taking a look at them? Is that a tryout? Need some clarification on this rule.

Just came back from Moss Hill. The Ball Brats were panhandling at the caution light. I was conducting some business in the parking lot of Simply Country Cooking, when I noticed them in their orange and black. I swung around and gave them their first donation for the trip to Colorado. Good luck to the Ball Brats on their Colorado adventure.

Thanks, lost some of the Houston area teams that normally attend to the Premier qualifier. It looks like this may be a one year organization. The "elite" teams that recieved bids are also playing in the Gold qualifiers and the threat to play the same week as Gold nationals has gone down the drain. The Premier qualifier in Houston has gone from about 80 original entries to less than 35. Some of the teams that entered have found out it is a dead week for D1 and not many coaches will attend. We are looking forward to a great camp and some good competitive games from the teams at our event. We will have some coaches from colleges other than D1. We appreciate the support from our local teams. They always give us a good base to build from. Without them we would be hard pressed to have our showcases.
