  1. The coaches I've talked to that have 4-day weeks have had no issue with being off Friday.....kids get to school around lunch, usually they eat lunch, watch a little film, do a quick walk-thru and then get on the bus
  2. I talked to an officiating buddy and he doesnt believe this will be a thing in TXHSFB
  3. Should get the first look at Silsbee in the May 20 7on7 Qualifier at West Columbia..really good field of teams scheduled to be at that one
  4. If you are a subscriber to DCTF and need a TXHFSB fix here's this month's podcast from Tepper and myself [Hidden Content]
  5. yes there's so much that goes into it....its always a good question though because of the variance you'll rarely get the same answer twice
  6. I think it varies by Coach, I've asked ten coaches this question and I get ten different answers....a lot just depends on where your program is at that time...for example teams like North Shore and Duncanville will play just about anyone willing to play them If you are in a nine or ten team district and you move into district play quick you may want to try and get specific looks or systems based on those early non-district games that are crucial If your program is down in the dumps you are probably just trying to find games you can be competitve in that maybe you can steal a win If you are middle of the road to good you probably try and split your schedule...one really tough game, one game where you feel good about a win and one game thats maybe a coin flip... If you are in a four or five team district that 5th and 6th non-district games are pretty much just seeing who else is in a small district and pairing up...thats how Brownsville Hanna and Amarillo Tascosa played a few years ago lol
  7. It's the off-season there's not much else to discuss football wise...
  8. I think yesterday's incident just underscores one of many issues with the Alamodome when it comes to state football..its not a super well-taken care of facility, there's a lot of work that needs to be done....San Antonio will put the work into the facility in time for the 2025 Final Four...much like in 2018, but then they won't do anything after that and 4-5 yrs post Final Four you have a facility that has degraded...rinse and repeat w/San Antonio lol Maybe now that they have an XFL team the city will do a better job maintaining the 'Dome between big events
  9. Honestly what other facility could guarantee the UIL back-to-back weekend availability and is large enough to host the event??
  10. It would put I think the venue would hold up.....this is just one example of the Alamodome just not being up to par as a facility right now
  11. CPS has not completed the investigation. I know of one athlete who had broken his hand during the season and was not cleared for upper body workouts was apparently made to do pushups as well....so not good there
  12. Of local note to Southeast Texas there are now two Division II qualifiers locally with Hamshire-Fannett and Hardin-Jefferson In Divison III there's a qualifier at West Hardin and not too far away is Crockett as well
  13. If Liberty Hill throws it...something typically went terribly wrong...
  14. The TSWA All-State team takes into account regular season and playoffs...typically the teams are loaded with players whose teams make deep playoff runs...the old AP All-State team which isnt done any longer was regular season only
  15. If you can please do me a solid watching the video from the link below lol thanks [Hidden Content]
  16. Hard to know how much SOC would travel to Houston...only time they've really traveled was the 2021 state semifinals when they went 3.5 hours to Abilene on a Friday night....Shotwell has a large home side that seats about 7500 and SOC did fill that up
  17. Some local teams stay home, others decide to get a hotel...just kind of depends...
  18. This will become even more of a debate if NRG or Alamodome get their locker room situations in order....neither has 4 full locker rooms right now.....Alamodome would have 4 if they'd let people in UTSA's locker room but thats off limits
  19. I will say I know South Oak Cliff did stay in hotels on Thursday night (they got hotels last year too)...some of the local teams will go get a hotel the night before just so the coaches can monitor the kids and what they eat etc
