  1. I will say I know South Oak Cliff did stay in hotels on Thursday night (they got hotels last year too)...some of the local teams will go get a hotel the night before just so the coaches can monitor the kids and what they eat etc
  2. The UIL is located in Austin. Maybe folks should pressure their superintendent to propose a rotation to the legislative council to get the ball rolling
  3. Thats definitely not true because they did open the 1st level end zone Saturday and have opened it in the past
  4. Not sure why that is...we wonder that most years regarding the end zone seating... The 6A D1 crowd IMO was bigger than the PNG-SOC game
  5. I think if you want to make it an all-day thing you basically try to do the same thing. Having kids makes things 1) harder 2) more expensive no matter what event it is. Most younger children dont have the attention span to sit at a stadium for 12 hours watching football either, a lot of the families w/kids that I know tend to only go to one game per day and they simply dont eat at the stadium...if you do stay for the day the best way to be budget conscious is do the exact same thing......pro-tip the Philly Cheesesteak is massive...big enough to split into two for kiddos
  6. They usually will allow to bring an empty water bottle in and so what most of my friends who go as fans (and are budget conscious) do is they eat a big breakfast before going,,bring their water bottles in and fill those up...and maybe buy one meal inside the stadium....
  7. 20$ per ticket isnt bad if you factor in the 3 game aspect of things. UIL's never going back to the way it was IMO and I dont think the schools want to go back...they make good money off the state games as well...
  8. It's not a great look for Mr. Jones, but he was also 14 years old at that time so I am a little more forgiving of poor choices made by children, so honestly no I wasn't too upset about it. I also believe people evolve as they age, mature and have different life experiences and I'm sure Mr. Jones has as well. As for AT&T Stadium its the nicest stadium in the state, it is an amazing facility
  9. No you're right...IMO it is wild..its a lot...I dont care for it, maybe that's less subtle and clears it up. But as I've said my personal opinion on the matter isn't important, I'm a big believer in local control when it comes to schools and if that's what PNG wants to do then that's their prerogative...
  10. I honestly don't care where state is played. I'm going to be there regardless. Now do I think AT&T Stadium is the best Stadium in Texas for the games? Absolutely, but I'd be fine with a rotation...more hotel points for me.
  11. Me personally I wouldn't put my child in it...but not my child so much like with PNG"s mascot my opinion doesnt matter than much in that regard.
  12. Moving the games to San Antonio and Houston would be great for me personally. But we don't make those decisions lol
  13. And I am being sincere about asking for examples. I work very hard to cover the entire state and not show bias. But I'm also self aware enough to know that I could have blind spots, so if I have them I'd love to see those examples so I can be better next year
  14. We say crazy people with upmost sense of affection. The DFW bias thing is amusing to me, but I'll entertain it...what examples of DFW bias would you think that I've personally shown? I'm genuinely curious
  15. I'm also used to alienating fan bases, I do it 17 weeks a year lol
  16. I agree people are entitled to have an opinion about my opinion as well
  17. I dont "want" the PNG mascot...if that community wants to keep it thats their decision, I'm not a taxpayer there and have no ties there, but it also doesn't mean I'm not entitled to an opinion on it, as little as that opinion may factor into the grand scheme of things
  18. I agree that PNG did a good job early on and had the upper hand, but coaching is also about making adjustments and SOC was able to do that so as much as PNG was able to outscheme SOC early, SOC made adjustments
  19. SOC definitely made some adjustments defensively, they are really sound on that side and have been for a few years.....the DC is well regarded and has worked at places like A&M and Boise State.....when PNG was pulling they were able to outnumber SOC because they had schemed SOC well and appeared to have figured out some of their rules....SOC made one adjustment on the fly in the 2nd Qtr, but it left them vulnerable w/o a 3rd level defender and thats wheh Nguyen busted the long one down to the 3 and they made it 17-5. They cleaned getting outnumbered on the pull and then they made a change at LB that helped. SOC offensively isn't complex, but sometimes being simple is best....they didnt trust Little in the 10 personnel (4 wide 1 RB)packages all year and PNG had a great scheme to deal with SOC's running game when they were 20 (3 WR, 2 RB) ....so they decided to trust Little more and we saw more 10 personnel in the 2nd half.....
  20. SOC's 3 losses are to Duncanville, DeSoto and Lancaster
