Just some info on Coach Stowers he's not in coaching right now....but he's got a son who will be QB at Denton Guyer and he's a stud....already has a Baylor offer.....will be a sophomore next year.....talked to several at Guyer and they say Eli Stowers has a chance to be real special [Hidden Content] -

Starting to hear word of cancellations in the Houston area.
Matthew328 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
it's totally up to the schools if they want to try and fill a game during the bye week... 1) Most don't like playing ten straight games, so they simply don't fill it, especially if the bye falls during district play 2) Even if they want to fill it, they have to find an opponent who is also willing to play 95% of cancelled non-district games are not made up -
Carter was maybe more talented that Yates (barely) but Yates was a better team IMO.... Carter just gets talked about more because of the grade issue and the robberies afterwards... the 30/30 is a must watch though it was outstanding

BRANDON PROUSE HIRED AS NEW DEWEYVILLE AD/HC!
Matthew328 replied to HasBeen36's topic in High School Football
It's possible he got that feeling they wouldn't be considered....but generally when guys leave this late its to ensure an internal candidate gets the job..right or wrong that's the reasoning many times... -

The optics behind leaving this late are never good....a lot of times when someone waits this late to leave its to try to ensure someone from in-house gets the job... -
2pm kick is even better LOL!

If there is a Week 11 Saturday night game in Beaumont I might make a weekend of it and come to SETX that Fri/Sat....
-
I think thats fair.... For the crowd who think the results mean nothing was The Woodlands State 7on7 crown a marker to tell us that maybe they'll have a special team last year?? One to watch this year....Westlake really struggled this summer....is that more evidence that they could be down?
-
Most of the "7on7 means nothing" crowd is from schools who either a. Don't Play or b. Aren't good at it I prefer to keep it in its place a useful tool to evaluate individual talent and at times teams depending on the individual approach to the game
-
The relevance of the game itself can be debated..but for me and my job its perfect to get 16, 24 or in this case 128 coaches in the same place that I can pick their brains and find out more about their teams...there's the old saying "work smarter; not harder" and for me I'd feel like I wasn't doing my job as well as I could if I didn't take full advantage of these kinds of opportunities to engage and network w/coaches

PNG not going to Lufkin Saturday...Lufkin apparently had a miscommunication

They qualified for state 7on7 already

Couple of SE Texas teams in action Saturday [Hidden Content]

7on7 isn't pointless depending on how its utilized, if you run your schemes that you run on Friday night then it's of great benefit...if you run an offense/defense to simply try and win 7on7 games then it loses value...you get out what you put in.... In the last 5 years here's the champions in Div. I/Div. II the teams who run their stuff and have won it generally have good fall season's..the teams that win it and don't run their offense..probably don't see much translation to the fall Division II 2012: Celina (10-3 lost in Regional Semis) 2013: Graham (14-1 lost in state semis) 2014: Graham (12-3 lost in state semis) 2015: Navasota (12-1 lost in Regional Semis) 2016: Kaufman (8-4 lost in area) Division I 2012: Plano (5-6 lost in bi-district) 2013: Southlake Carroll (11-2 lost in regional semis) 2014: Katy Seven Lakes (6-4 missed playoffs) 2015: Austin Westlake (14-2 lost in state title game) 2016: The Woodlands (15-1 lost in state title game) What do Kaufman, Plano and Seven Lakes have in common?? They don't run the same in offense in 7on7 that they do on Friday night...what do the others who all advanced at least three deep have in common?? There are a lot of similarities in what they run on Friday night vs. what they run in 7on7....

Bishop Dunne is always one of the better private school teams in the state.....they have a DT with 21 offers....an OL with 10 offers, one other OL who has one offer....a ATH type committed to Nebraska and a DB who has over 20 offers, another one with 3....PAM will be favored but Dunne is no slouch
