Nederland AD hires new basketball assistant coach
asary replied to 5 on 5's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If ignorance is bliss, some people on here must be in a constant state of euphoria.
Please elaborate how this group of basketball enthusiasts are ignorant. Sounds to me like the only thing they may be ignorant of is how to get basketball coaches for basketball, and looks to me like they are headed in the right direction to address and hopefully correct their situation. So go ahead and enjoy your own state of euphoria my friend, your post name says it all. This thread doesn't look to me like it is "basketball vs. Football", it is simply asking for equality in both sports. AND might I say, Equality for the KIDS. -
Nederland AD hires new basketball assistant coach
asary replied to 5 on 5's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Question for the new assistant basketball coach: what is your name, what school were you at previously and what were you coaching at that time, did you play basketball in HS, have you ever coached basketball at any level, and what would YOU say is your ability and overall knowledge of the game.??? This would probably be a good time for Neumann to justify his hire, and for this new coach to lay out the resume that landed him this job. -
If a young basketball player, say in middle school or as a freshman, could pick any area program to participate in, which would offer him the best opportunity to develop and maximize his skills as he progresses toward the varsity level....and why??

Hearing some gossip. Any new potential transfers moving Kelly's way???

Wait a minute ???
Do you mean you don't mind dying as long as it is happening to someone else too?
And I use to think getting old would not be a problem because my school friends would age with me. After visiting my old friends, I realized I had been lying to myself for so many years. ???
We are all getting old.....er that it why it is so much fun to live vicariously through our children....It helps keep us young.....er for a little while longer.
Nederland has about 10 teams in their league. They also have a jv league as well. Alot of 4a teams in this one and memorial as well.
Not only Nederland Varsity and JV...I saw a 7th grade team and a 8th grade team play in the Ned tourney last week.

Got to admit AAU is more tolerant of physical play, hard fouls, back talking players, coaches who scream and yell and come halfway on the court protesting calls, players fighting, and even parents getting out of control. Unfortunately like it or not this behavior is becoming all too common place in AAU play and is making AAU less desirable for many. My son played 2 years ago for a Houston team and this behavior was more common then not in most tourneys. Although I must say I never saw a player hit a ref, I did see players hitting each other, I saw a player hit a coach, I saw a coach shove a player to the floor, I saw a parent go onto the court at the ref during a game, and I saw parents from opposing teams get into a fight. Overall a pitiful display, however it is really no surprise that a player hit a ref....things have been getting out of hand for quite a while. AAU can be a wonderful experience for us and our kids, or it can be an embarrassing display of what we are allowing it to become.

I actually think the younger players will play better and looser with a little less pressure (not expected to win district, not expected to go undefeated in district, etc) and it will be exciting to watch as this new group grows and develops and it becomes "their team".

Ok that makes more sense......Congrats Bulldogs!!
-
Some of our kids will be young and still developing but who better to develop them than 2011 Coach of the Year Brian English. Congratulations Coach English!!!!
-
Nederland will beat Ball in the same fashion they beat Humble.....nothing fancy just good solid basketball in the 2nd half and making pressure free throws...Ball is aggressive but this will ultimately lead to their demise, as Nederland will win this game at the free-throw line

Congratulations Bulldogs!!! These boys kept their composure down the stretch under pressure. Great halftime adjustments by Coach English!! It just keeps getting better. I thought the freshman Colton Weisbrod played well and kudos to Dionte for returning to game after what looked like a possible season ending injury. Mitchell handled the ball very well in 2nd half. Again, proud to be a bulldog fan!!!!!!!! -

Proud of all the bulldogs......and with a finish like this, Cunningham YOU THE MAN!!! Proud to be a Bulldog fan.
I haven't seen that inbounds play all season. Guess coach English was waiting for the right time to implement it. He put Cunningham in perfect position..
Coach English is the coach you want on your bench in this type situation, with the game on the line. He makes in-game situational adjustments better than any other coach around. -
OK. My bad, guys. I forgot Nederland made it to the 3rd round. And to the guy that said 'we' have a bad taste in our mouths. Yes, we did, a little, I'm not going to lie. But now it's playoff time. In 20-4a, I'm rooting for Mid County and Beaumont teams...
Nicely said. We all have our favorite local teams and we have our local rivals, but we have watched as these players have matured thru their HS years . I have watched many of the various local schools/players for many years and during playoff time I pull for each and everyone of them. And, as a side note the better our district teams do the stronger it makes our district look.

Everyone always has and always will pick on the winner. In some form or fashion it makes them feel better about themselves. Coach English is a winner.
