  1. I can't believe that I called it. I knew that Thompson was an excellent coach. I honestly didn't believe that he would actually be the selection. I think this is a move in the right direction for the team and schoool district. There's no better way around here to get the community behind a school like having a very successful football team. What is the news for the other coaching positions? Are they going to hire the coordinators new as well? Someone said DeRoeun from Ned might be one. I'm thinking call Mike Long at Kelly. He'd probably leave head coaching at a private school to lead the offense at an up and coming 5A program that has the talent to show the state how to play football. There are several defgensive names out there also.
  2. Regardless of the outcome, I envy the players that get to open their season in Reliant. With any luck, they'll get to close their season in Reliant also. I can't wait to be there as a fan! As to predictions.....It will be natural to pick against the MC teams. I'm not making any predictions for my school or Nederland. Just remember that the game is not played on paper for a reason. These boys on both teams know that. They will be playing like they have something to prove.
  3. To clarify my statement, people like you who don't like ideas coming into the district create a severe form of tunnel vision. This tunnel vision creates stagnation. If you don't want my comments, then don't read them. I have volunteered on PN-G's bonds, and we accepted opinions from several outside sources.
  4. That's typical PA logic that has that whole town/school district in the predicament it is in. Honestly, I was surprised that Thompson even applied to work there.
  5. You really have anger issues. I have the numbers to a few shrinks looking to get noticed for taking on the impossible. PM me. Oh, by the way: GO INDIANS GO BULLDOGS GO BRUINS
  6. Just mu .02, but there is no way that Memorial should pass up Ronnie Thompson.
  7. I hope this thread can be found when it all pans out. There will be plenty of crow to go around for all!
  8. What will Dayton bring to the table next year? Will we still have the top three in playoffs (PNG, LCM, Ned), or will Dayton make everyone re-examine their playoff chances?
  9. PN-G has several starters returning, plus non-starters who saw significant playing time. This includes starters from the districts leading offense, including the sophomore newcomer of the year. We have some defensive hosses returning, and coming up. Look for PN-G's defense to improve vastly over last year, and the offense to continue without missing a beat. I saw the backup QB in scrimmages last year. He'll be starting this year, and will pickup without missing a beat.
  10. After hearing some remarks made on Ch 6 news last night by PA people, I'd be surprised if any superintendents with any real capabilities apply for the job. PA should have let Mackey go without comment. No superindent will want to go to PAISD and risk having the same things said about them.
  11. PNG considered turf as part of a new stadium in a bond package. The stadium was later removed from the package and was substituted with minor stadium repairs to get another decade out of the stadium. The bond has been temporarily delayed to see what the legislature is going to do about school finance. I observed probably 90% of those bond meetings. I'd like to see the stadium package put back in the bond.
  12. Dodge will never coach in PA. He had his name on the list when the school was still TJ -- before he took the SLC job. He took one tour of the school and had his name removed from the list. Things have only gotten worse since then. Until massive changes are made in PA administration and facilities, they will not get a top tier coach. Heck, for all that goes, no team in this area is going to get a top tier coach with the current facilities. The best any of us will do is to get someone that is on the move up. Even then, we will only keep them a few years.
  13. Personally, I think that they should have taken the third and fourth place teams and placed them in the championship game. This would have completed the tournament. They could have named the MVP and given the trophy as normal. This should have been used to set an example of what will not be tolerated. The message that was sent was that this will be tolerated. Ozen is still considered the tournament winner, even though they did not get a trophy. Just my $0.02. I'm hearing that some are worried about the Ozen/Central district games that still have to be played. I've been told that there are usually issues at those games. This year could be worse than usual. The tournament could have been used as a means to discourage this behaviour later down the road.
  14. I'm hearing that the championship game of the James Gamble Classic had Ozen vs. Central. Ozen was winning, but a brawl ended the game. No trophy was preesented, and there was no MVP. I believe that the tournament considered Ozen as the winner since they were leading at the time. On a side note, I also heard that the coaches were antagonizing the issue instead of trying to stop it, and that the refs lost total control of the game instead of making the players abide by regulations.
