PN-G's new coach.... How long will the honeymoon last??
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If this is true about Cary coming from Aledo, then again we are getting another coach from a great program. Cary was not the DC, but the Aledo team this year allowed just under 9 points a game and last year I beleive it was, they pitched 5 shutouts. Not bad! -

Very good timeframe! Gonna be tough to keep a honeymoon alive when you drop your first 4 years straight to big ned.... ;D ;) on a more serious note, I hope the guy comes in and does a great job, if not, I'd say the honeymoon lasts about as long as the PNG scoreboard stays on after a Nederland win....not long ;D ;D I think the good folks in PN and G are just happy that Coach Spell will now have to actually work the week of MCM! ;D -

PN-G's new coach.... How long will the honeymoon last??

Well if you had been paying attention, you would know that Faircloth does not run the spread! He actually runs the ball quite a bit more than he passes. This past year Permian threw 290 times for 2700 yards and ran 475 times for 3500 yards. And the tradition comments are with respect to the expectations at PNG. And answer me this, When has PNG ever had top of the line talent? Ever? Sure we have had a few very talented young men, but never the talent of PA or Central and Ozen across the board, but PNG has enough talent to work with in an inovative offense. -

I was going to make that point as well 82! Not only has he coached at Permian, but Highland Park as well. If I am not mistaken, isn't HP the winningest HS football program in the state of Texas. Loads of tradition in the Scotts program. He also coached at Westlake who has developed a pretty rich, but young tradition of wining as well. And then you top that all off with the fact that he graduated from and played for Brownwood which has a very rich history as well. I think this guy will get it! He will understand what purple pride is about and he will use it to his advantage. -
Faircloth has no HC experience yet, but he has learned from the best. 1. Played for Brownwood (home of the 2nd all time winningest coach in Texas HS Football) 2. Coached under Ron Schroeder at Austin Westlake (Schroeder went 187-27 and won a couple of 5A State Titles at Westlake of which Faircloth was on staff) 3. Coached under Randy Allen at Highland Park (Allen went 106-11 and won a state title in 4A with Faircloth on staff) 4. Coached under Allman at Permian (Allman has turned Permian back into a west Texas power and top ten team) I'd say he had to learn a few pretty good things about running a program and it looks like he has some pretty good coaches to call on if he has questions!

What is the word on the Jags job? Do you guys have anyone in mind? What was the problem that Stowers had with the folks at Central? I know I heard he was unhappy with someone and or something.

Lamar vs. UTSA Updates/LU Falls Again!!!!!!!!!!
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The difference in the game tonight was the turnovers by Dawkins. Many were just lazy passes or mental lapses that led to a hand ful of easy buckets on the other end. Take better care of the ball and cut his to's in half and Lamar get's W. -
Anyone else notice that Tom Haliburton does no research? "Faircloth has coached such outstanding athletes as former University of Texas and current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams while working under head coach Darren Allman on the Panthers coaching staff." Faircloth joined the Permian staff in 2006. In 2006 Roy Williams had 1300 yards receiving and 9td's...for the DETROIT LIONS! But totaly failed to report that he did coach potential first overal pick in this years draft in QB Mathew Stafford durring their state championship season in 2005. Tom is a tool!

Another name on the list with HC experience that didn't get interviewed was Darrell Andrus (HC at CC Flour Bluff). He has done a good at FB in a short period. -

I liked Faircloth as the potential HC without HC experience when Danaher and Stumps names were out there. With his history with Westlake he may have a good shot at that job, but if PNG offers before Westlake begins it's process, I would think he would take the PNG job because waiting for the Westlake job would be a gamble. I wonder if we will see Danahers name on the Westlake list? If I were him that Westlake job would be a sweet way to end your career! -
Sharing a facility is not a big deal for the fans, because they just show up and watch. But for a coach, his staff and the players it is a real pain in the butt. Every game requires a set of bus trips, can't just relax or do much last minute gameplanning before the game or after the game. Getting the equipment to and from becomes a hassle. If the playing surface is different than the practice surface it becomes an issue especially on rainy gamedays. You always feel like you are the visiting team because the locker room is not home. Craig never had to deal with that at TJ, but the SFA and Lincoln folks know what I am talking about!

I agree with Billy. The unreal number of fouls (many nit picky) played right inot the hands of SH. Hard to run when you are taking the ball out after free throws all night. So we got teed up for our player saying something to an official (Roc does need to cool it, his was warranted) and they have a guy foul out and stare down an official as he walks by him, then bumps him and nothing?? I pay to watch basketball, not the men in stripes. Someone needs to point that out to them!

You no way to much about Garret not to be him! This info is not readily available. Not sure I like the idea of a HC candidate on a local MB trying to sell himself. If you are not Garrett then give us your name or PM me with who you are and who you coach for. Otherwise we should all assume that you are Garrett and that ain't good! -
I gotta say Jay Brown is twice the player that I thought he was last year. Big suprise on both ends of the floor. Not sure I can remember a 6'7" guy at LU that blocked shots like he does??

Ya'll had exactly that with Danny Malone. And we could have it again with Chris Garrett! He has already had coaches from Plano, Allen and Duncanville that said they would go anywhere with him. Are you Garretts agent? : Give it a rest already. You do realize that we don't get a say in who they choose. You are lobbying to the wrong people! Besides if you look at the programs Faircloth has coached at you would see the same. Westlake and Highland Park are synonymous with Championships as is Permian. -
Ditto. That kid is a beast. Even though he tears up opposing backfields (PNG's included) he also makes our boys better by pushing them to their limits.

Are you the guy? The former player that Danaher speaks of in his interview? Good post, sounds like someone with Phill's ear! I heard the same from someone regarding his intent for the PNG job and reasons. -

So which is it, he "isn't leaving WB" or you "don't believe he'll leave WB"? ;D -
Whatever? : You realize how ridiculous that is right? 6 wins in 18 years. That says all I need to know! Back on topic. I would be very happy with either, Danaher, Stump and even Faircloth has a pretty good resume as an upstart. Faircloth offenses have been impressive and he is used to winning (Permian, Highland Park and Westlake).
