  1. I hope you are being sarcastic because Southlake and Grapevine are two of the most expensive places to live in the DFW area....There is a reason why Southlake will only have one high school there.... Bingo...Southlake is home to multi-million dollar homes and corporate exec's. My wife and I lived in Grapevine in the early '90's and she worked in this little town northwest of there with a jaugernaut 3A football program called Southlake. We used to go eat burgers at the Dragon's Den and I proudly wore my black cap with the green bill and green "C" on it when we came back home (we had friends with kids onthe team). But we couldn't afford to live there. It amazes us to this day at the growth of that coummunity in such a short time. If I had to choose another program to root for based on recent history and fan base...Katy. The Red Sea!
  2. Would you like that turnover with apples? ;D
  3. I think that is about right, but without Nabors. Of course they picked us fourth with Nabors. Until someone steps up and proves they can be the scoring and rebounding threat that Nabors/Sanders combo was, this team is a big question mark. Justin Reynolds was a very good Freshman last year and will be even better this season. I see this kid winning SLC MVP maybe next year or as a Sr.
  4. Bennet was on a football scholarship. More scholarships in football, thus less risk to the basketball roster if he gets injured playing basketball. He was essential the highest recruited walk-on to the basketball team and takes an extra spot on the team as opposed to Wesley who would be one of the 10 or so basketball scholarships.
  5. District MVP Grogan - Ned. (Nederland without him is nothing) Offensive MVP Hanna - Lumberton (Good numbers) Defensive MVP Harris - Livingston (ball hawk) -Beard was a close second
  6. Why do you just suspect that we loved MB last year? We fans did not vote for him as Coach of the year. The problem with the spread last year was that we where not actually running the spread. We went to the shotgun with four receivers, but the only passes we threw where to the RB. There were no crossing patterns and nothing up the field at all. Nederland decided to run the spread and the coaches were sent up to visit with Dodge and learned the ins and outs of the offense. PNG on the other hand just decided one day, hey lets line up in the spread and run some plays!!!!!! Duh!!! Wonder why that didn't work? I sat in front of some Nederland coaches scouting PNG at the Crosby game earlier this year and I asked them if they were writing anything down and they said no not really. One of them showed me his notes from last year. He laughed and said that it's the same thing over and over again. Another Nederland coach told me last year that the easiest week of preperation for them each year was PNG!!!! And he was dead serious!
  7. The people who vote in the polls are idiots. Florida looses to an unranked SEC bottom feeder OU looses to Texas Texas looses to an undefeated top 5 on a last second play at their house Yet some polls have those two ranked ahead of UT. At least for know the BCS has Texas ahead, but when OU beats TT, they will move ahead of UT. The only thing that could save Texas' chance at a NC game is if TT looses to both OU and OSU, Bama looses and UT wins the Big 12 title game. That might catipolt them over OU in that scenario. We need a playoff!
  8. Well...Any news?
  9. Football to Basketball is the most dificult in college because they run concurrent for a few months. If he committed for basketball I would imagine Roc wouldn't want to have to wait on him each year for football to end nor would he want the injury risk. But if he is on a football scholarship then it would be a different situation.
  10. MB is the AD at PNG for the boys. Barbara Comeaux is girls AD. That State Championship game was almost 10 years ago and since Mike Long left PNG has had one playoff appearance. My nephew played on that State Runner Up team in '99 and when asked about the offense he said MB was clueless. He said that when a play was called Matt would ask what it was ("what are we doing"). I attended quite a few practices that year and Mike Long was clearly running that offense. Matt had no part of it. But what that allowed Matt to do was focus on the defense (linebackers primarily) and that is his specialty. That defense was salty and those linebackers were allways in the right spot. This is what most of us at PNG want to see happen again. I don't want Matt gone, just want an established play caller with some imagination to be given the keys to the offensive car and allowed to drive it alone, without being told which way to go. Then Matt can go back to doing what he does better than most coaches in this area, coaching defense. As far as talent this year. We have a Very good QB, Two backs near the district rushing lead, a 6'3" WR with great hands and athleticism and another very good WR across from him. We have run playaction maybe three times all season with big success! Why only a few times?? Granted the talent on defense is young, we knew that going in, but this maybe the most overall talent on offense since Dustin Long's Sr. year. The problem is not the talent. The problem is that the opposing defense knows what we are doing before the ball is snapped. I don't care how talented you are, if they know your play they have won half the battle already.
  11. When Beard went back into the game and carried the ball, he made a cut to his left with no one touching him and immediately begin to go down. The PNG player was already set to hit him (hence teh cut back) when he begin to go down. The first hit was as legal as it gets. For the guy that said "- I know for a fact that whoever tackled Beard was going for the knees on purpose." How do you know this as fact? Did he tell you this? Where you telecomunicating with the kid? You guys from Lumberton continue to amaze me with your moronic assesment of all things football. If it happened to Lumberton and it is negative you immediately begin to point fingers. I hate that the kid got hurt as you can tell that he really loves the game and has a bright future, but to say it was done with malice is ridiculous without proof. Wish we had the video. Playing PNG as malicous head hunters without proof is just idiotic. Also on the subject of the new turf, Beard is the only player I saw go down with a leg injury all night and no one went down with a leg injury against Livingston. Not Astro Turf. Big, Big difference.
  12. Did anyone hear ask what SHSU was doing? I agree with trying to get the DII's off of the schedule. Would love to see LT or ULL rivalries renewed.
  13. ???? that's not much of a committment. Sort of a slap in the face! "Yes, I will marry you, but If so and so asks I will marry him" "Sure I l go to the prom with you, but if GT asks, you should bring the tux back!"
  14. Will we ever get a return on all these Memphis games?
  15. BINGO!!! Herein lies the problem at PNG. Not recognizing where your strengths are each year and adjusting accordingly! Also this district is not tough any more. It is a shell of what it once was, at least this year. None of the playoff teams will advance beyond the second round and I think we could get swept in round one!
  16. Maybe Matt and company should come sit in the stands this Friday Night! ;D Being a coach is a demanding job, I agree. They have to mold young boys into young men and hope that they execute on Friday night to save their jobs, but the guy at the top is also being payed handsomely (compared to teachers) to put the kids in a position to succeed and should be questioned when it is felt that he is not doing that. But I also agree that calling out a kid is un-called for. They bust their butts for the love of the game and for the smile on our face when they get it right. Until the kids get paid big money, they should be applauded no matter what they do on the field!
  17. I thought Dodge was suppose to be the second -coming at UNT. I seem to remember his son is playing there too. Riley is not paying much right now. Probably should have red-shirted him. Besides he don't play defense so he ain't gonna help 'em much where they need it most.
  18. I agree. What's in it for Memphis, a basketball power?
  19. I would have never guessed that Yates was the current streak holder! I knew they were tough in the 80's, but not much since.
  20. The district coaches chose him coach of the year last year to keep him around longer. ;D I really get tired of people posting about PNG having one bad year and they will be back, blah, blah, blah...For those that live in the district and follow the program we know that it is not just "One Down Year". On the contrary, last year we had "One Up Year". Like I said before, Matt does not adjust to suit his talent year in and year out. Last year he had the hosses to be a power football team and it worked out as it does about every 3 or 4 years. p.s. this still doesn't mean it is OK to throw punches in the stands! I am embarassed about it. Where is the Honor, Pride and Tradition?
  21. The Bmt Surprise does have archived box scores for this year. Use the link below, then pick a team, then go down the page to the boxscore of the game you want. iPrep BMT Enterprisehttp://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/ipreps/High_School_Sports_Data.html
  22. I think Nederland's offense will give Lumberton fits, you can't stop Grogan (he is a man child) so I think Lumberton will try and contain the passing game and have little success. I also think that Lumberton is too one dimensional this year to outscore Nederland. In other words I think Nederland scores quickly and makes a couple of stops of the Raider running game, which will be just enough to win (Nederland 31 - Lumberton 21). I actualy might sneak over to Bulldog stadium to watch this one! Before you LTrain fans start screaming about respect, I am not dogging your program, just telling it like I see it. I have been wrong once before...ONCE! ;D
  23. Not gonna happen!
  24. Not athlete wise, but running play action is a no brainer for any power football team. And a draw or two when we went back into the shotgun would help keep the rush off. Also don't care much for having two RB's in the shotgun for protection. I would prefer one back with an extra TE on the line.
  25. I sit at the 20 by the video board and it was packed to the fence during the Livingston game. Not sure about the other side of the band. I noticed a lot of folks leaving after the band played at the half. What is that all about?
