1.
I was sitting in the stands when the PNG players came off the field and one of them dropped the "F" bomb on one of the GCM fans. Somebodys mom to be exact. I thought that was very disrespectful.
I sure hope you let them know that language was not tolerated. I would if it were rolls reversed. Kids want respect, but they dont give respect unless they are called on it. This wouldve been a good learning lesson.
 2. Yes I saw the titles games this year. Thats why I said "before" last year. And every team you mentioned outside of CCC was from SA and Austin. Thats my point Callallen has feasted on the teams south of SA for years they are not even a top 20 program!!!
 3.

Celina has the 8 state titles but Corpus Christi Calallen has been to the playoffs 27 straight years and to the second round or better 26 times. I think I would take a quarter century of dominating the southern bend over a single title.
Calallen has been good for a while, but the south Texas competition is WEAK! Going two+ rounds down there doesn't compare. Southlake Carroll won titles in 2A and 3A before the stretch run in 5A...Pretty darn salty. And they won those early titles in an offense built around the run under Ledbetter, then dominated the 5A scene through the air under Dodge. And one name I haven't seen yet is Plano. Hard to say who is top dog.
The competition in the district may be weaker but region 3 doesn't compare to region 4 where Calallen plays. Throw in the fact that they're about the size of Ozen and lose the to the eventual state champ about 50% of the time and other than La Marque who has multiple titles nobody in region 3 compares. When is the last time a 4A school other than La Marque won a title from this region? Unless you have multiple titles I think Calallen's success is untouched.
Thanks for helping proove my point. Region 4 has only been successful because of Lake Travis and lets be honest here, they are not exactly a south Texas team are they. Sure Lamarque is the only real title holder from Region 3, but to discredit teams like Brenham, Manvel, Dayton and others that have played for the title recently, but praise Callalen for loosing to Lamarque (best in region 3 for years) over and over again makes little sense. Other than LT, who from R4 has played for a title before this year. And who from south of San Antonio which is who CC Callallen feasted on for years only to loose when they got to some real competition. CCC is a good program, but they dont deserve to be in this convo.

 5. Funny even after a horrible 2-8 season, PNG still has more playoff wins the last three years than the self proclaimed "greatest show on turf"! If SC doesnt get past round two this year they may never and your brief recent history tells us this past year may have been the best it'll ever get for demdawgs!
 6. His first go round in ltown was back when they dropped down to 3A for a few years. Did pretty well. Only two made playoffs and I think they finished 3rd one year, but it was tight. HF was dominating that district then and OF had Granger. Only issue I see with Haynes is that he wont be there long enough to make a real difference. He has a track record of moving around alot and he is up there in age now. Seldom, if ever, does it pan out when you bring back someone from the past. Think Billy Tubbs at LU! It was ok, but not what folks had hoped for.
 7. Its an advertising stunt. Were talking about him now...so it's working! So who's it gonna be?  Do they try and rekindle some of the fire Haynes had at Lumberton back when they were 3A for a while with Ryan Verde and Co. ?? Or do they start fresh with a new face? No doubt coach Haynes teams can play some offense, but would the Raiders end up like PNG last year trying to outscore everyone to no avail?
 8. If what you are saying is true and PNG did not complete the tournament, then I am very dissapointed even without knowing the circumstances.
 9.
I only see PN-G winning 3 games this year total...Livingston, LC-M, and Lumberton.  They just have a tough non-district schedule, a top heavy district in my opinion and probably are a year away from being serious threats for the district crown. PN-G faithful, don't turn your back on Faircloth...
Top heavy district?? That is your opinion...I beg to differ. Last year prooved that. Only Nederland moved past round one and outside of Nederland this year, who is better than last year. Not Vidor, they will not be a cellar dweller, but they will not be as good as last year. Ozen? Who is at QB? What will they do without the RB? they will be young and talented. Central...Who takes over for Mitchell? Foreman will be better for that program no doubt, but I am not sold next year will be the year. Livingston? they lose Collins, but they had a very good JV squad. I look for them to compete better than most expect. LCM has maybe the best returning QB and a good WR, but the loss of Sezar will hurt them. I think 2-8 this district is up for grabs and those teams will probably struggle in Bi-District.
 10. Anyone consider the offer?  Baylor is not cheap. If its not a full offer it may not be his best option. If thats not the issue or an issue then I agree, working with coach Briles with Sharps skillset would be a no brainer and getting a top notch education to boot.
 11.
everybody who has tried the last two years ended up getting bit
Nicely done! Bit and slobered on!
 12. Kicking puppies!!! Is that a pun?  Bunch folks across the tracks cringed.  ;D Ok I'll walk the plank: 1. Nederland 2. PNG 3. Livingston (JV was very good last year. I expect they still compete.) T4. Vidor T4. Central 6. Ozen (infusion of very good freshman class from last year) 7. LCM 8. Lumberton Again like last year I think Nederland is legit playoff contender, but 2-7 have a lot of questions to be answered and lots of youth. Future of this district is bright.
 13. 3-0 pre district 4-3  District with wins against Central, Ozen, Lumb and a tough LCM. Lossing to what will be a decent Livingston team on the road, Ned and PNG at the Reservation. 7-3 and the 4th Seed!
 14.
I have no relation to any of the QB's actually. I also do not think they have the same 40 times...watching 7 on 7 game against WB Walker just seemed to be an all around better QB. But, everyone is entitled to their opinions, after all this is a forum. Height may be good to have but it doesn't make you an awesome QB...Height doesnt help if you dont have accuracy. Drew Breese is under 6 foot and Russell Wilson is too which both are outstanding. Walker is said from many people in the community to be 5' 9" though which looks about right in my eyes. Im not bashing any QB, I just think Walker was better than Morse. I wish them both the best of luck though in whatever position they be put in. I have faith in Faircloth and the other offensive coaches that they will make the best decision. No worries for this Indian fan.  ;)
I think if you had seen both play in pads you would recognize that Morse is a special QB talent and Walker is a special football talent. Morse is very accurate and has a strong arm. He is also tough in the pocket and on the run. That said Ky Walker can help this team out in many positions were Morse may be best suited at QB. I'd use Ky on offense and defense, similiar to how Nederland used Sonnier a couple years back. It is not a bad problem to have! Of course this team will only go as far as the Lines take them. Both Lines need to step it up this year to make a splash.
 15. 1-2 pre-district with a W over Silsbee at home and loss to what will be a great SC team in Humble and a loss at home to old nemesis WOS (they tend to beat us before we hit the field!). 5-2 district slate with losses to a very good experienced Nederland team at Nederland and one of the Beaumont teams. We get Livingston, Vidor and Central at home. So maybe Ozen. 6-4 in the playoffs would be a nice turnaround from last year and a sign of things to come with this young team.
 16.
How do 2 sub. .500 teams play each other in the 1st round.  One of them would have had to of done well in district.  That would be  rare occurence.  In 5A a few years back. Plugerville HS got 4th in dstrict and went all the way to the state championship game.  That instance makes it worth it right there.  Yes, most probably don't need to be in the playoffs, but there are some who will be competitive and win.  You are only adding one game.
Because theey go into DI and DII based on enrollment not where they place in the district. So a 4-6 team could be the 4th place team in their district and be the smallest enrollment so they would be the DII #2 seed. They would play the other districts DII #1 seed which could be the third place team in that district.
 17. Yup...An 0-3 pre-district for our young Indians may not be indicitive of what the rest of the season holds, but unfortunately you can bet after last season there will be a lot of grumblings if it does occur.

Way lazy and easy.  ;)
My best guess is that this is a list of kids that have paid for and competed in one of the OPW.com combines, since the list was created by OPW.com and is on the OPW.com website!
 19.
I'm glad you posted this. I have been thinking the same thing. I'm done with the Astros for now. I had hopes that Jim Crane would turn this team around and be a good owner for the baseball fans. So far, it appears that Mr Crane is going to milk this team and the fans. He can have it; without my support. While I do enjoy sports, my time on this earth is limited. I need to spend less time in front of the TV and more time doing things that matter. (Football season is different!) Without having the Astros on TV makes my course easier. To answer your question though, I do think it will hurt the fan base. Having a smaller presence on the radio hurts too. Without Milo calling the games I done even want to listen to the games either.
The TV thing is not an Astros problem, it's a cable provider problem...Go to every other market in America and CSN Sports is carried with no extra charges, but in Houston for some reason they want to hike up rates. If you pay attention to the foundation of the future, which is the Minor Leagues, you would know that Crane has hired Lunhow and is getting it right.  The MILB teams as of today are 20-5 all four teams are in first place and many of the prospects that they received via trade or early MLB draft in the last three years are playing very well and producing some eye poping numbers so far this year. Most of those guys are a year or two from being in Houston. Remember these names: Springer, Cosart, Tropeano, Correa, Singleton, McCullers, Fontana, Deshields, Santana, Tucker, Velasquez, Zeid, Grossman. Patience! In the meantime the club is hot and cold. A lot of free swingers with big pop, but Porter has rained them in at the plate during the Seattle series and the patience has paid off big time the last few nights (8 HRs and 24 runs). I'd rather watch young talent develop and lose then old talent wither away and lose! While I dont like the price hike for certain games or should I say opponents, I do like that Crane has changed the policy on bringing in your own food. Mclane raped this organization and this city and left us with what we have today because he didn't want to spend money on player development.
 20.

Congrats Coach Dubois.... We are happy to have you! For all you haters out there, Hopefully the "Wing T" will help our no-talent kids win a couple of games... You guys never disappoint, something good finally happens with our progam, and you still "down" our kids... You know, I used to think it was fun to get on here and talk a little trash and you could find good information about other programs, but its just a bunch of senseless crap... You know, a couple of weeks ago, someone told me he felt sorry for my kids because they had a "delusional and inmature father". He didnt even get a warning from you moderators, but I get on here and take up for the kids in this community and get banned! Someone starts a thread about our new coach and the first thing that gets talked about is how the "Wing T" is good for programs with no talent.... So basically what you guys are saying is no matter how good we do now, or over the next years, its because we are running an offense that is perfect for a no-talent, struggling program... Really.....
See, thats what Im talking about right there..... You honestly believe that saying kids have no talent is positive? Not being allowed to "attack" other users is the rule on here right? Our kids read this! Saying we have no talent and no "explosive" athletes is attacking our kids no matter how you look at it. Hey if I'm the one who turned this thread into something negative then I appologize, but I dont see it that way.
So are you arguing that HJ has as many football talented atheletes as WOS? I said talent depth...not no talent. I am talking about teams that have three maybe four really good athletes and then a group that play hard, but arent' speed merchants or 6'5 260lb beasts. The teams with less talent depth can use the misdirection as an equalizer. Misdirection slows down a fast attacking defense! I am a PNG fan, I am not dilusional, I am well aware that we don't have the team speed of Central or WOS, but we got some excellent football players that compete tooth and nail with those kids and come out on top some times. I am not saying we have no talent or "Knocking" our kids.
 21. I agree the slot-T can be a great equalizer for teams with less talent in numbers. It has helped several area schools become competetive within their districts, but as i have argued before show me a 4A or 5A school that runs it and wins in weeks 13-16 regularly. You wont find it. Vidor went three deep two years ago then got thumped by a team with more athletic depth that wouldnt wear out from chasing the misdirection all night. We all saw what happened last year in round one when they met a athletically deep SC. Typically gotta be balanced to beat those teams. But in 3A and especially lower in classification you can ride that train to the station cause teams normally dont have the talent depth. All said i think it was a good hire for HJ if they will leave him alone and let him establish the offense. It took Vidor several years to perfect it.
 22.

If Vidor's OC is headed to H-J as the new coach there the Pirates are in need of a new OC. Mathews doesn't call the plays so this is a pretty pivotal position for them. here are some guys that could be possiblitlies. 1. Brian Huckabay- former Orangefield head coach who is now OC at Hull-Daisetta and runs the Slot-T. Is friends with Mathews and both from Bridge City so they'd probably work together well. Will be seamless transition as they run the same offense. Huckaby is a masterful play caller. 2. Greg Neece- Probably on borrowed time in Kirbyville so why not get back to doing what he does best- running an offense . Plus he already lives in Vidor so it will be a shorter commute for him. Only complication is the Wing-T is what he runs but it isn't too far off from Mathews' slot-T. 3. More than likely Vidor will not have the money for an experienced OC and Mathews will promote some random assistant already on the staff.
whoa! didnt know that. He seems like someone Vidor would go after but Kville was pretty young last year, i think he is gonna be ok there after they make the playoffs this season. Doesnt Liberty Hill run the Slot-T? If so maybe their OC would be interested......
gonna be hard to entice an OC to move from a 3A Power in the beautiful Hill Country to move to SETX for a lateral move! Best bet is Huck or promote. You called it "Mathews Offense" but said he doesnt call the plays. So which is it?  Thought he was a defensive minded HC.
 23. Newton is the only legit shot. Nederland will be local great, but not state great. SC defense not good enough to win it all. Silsbee returns a good team, but great teams win state titles!
 24. We are seperate now with the exeption of a few privates in 5A. Been saying for years that our seperation of public / private is what makes Friday night lights exciting in Texas. I laughed at the assanign statement from one private school principal about this not teaching equality to our youth. Allowing recruiting privates to compete against non recruiting publics sure sounds equal to me!  ::). Give me a break. At the very least they should have all privates playing in 5A.  John Curtis Christian is named after the active head football coach for pete sake, its a football academy with an enrollment of 200- 300 students of which 150 play football
 25. Just for a little clarity via fact. The last three years in the 4A State Playoffs: Humble              2-1  0.667 Nederland          5-3  0.625 Dayton              4-3  0.571 PNG                  2-2  0.500 Vidor                  2-2  0.500 Ozen                  2-2  0.500 Central              1-1  0.500 Crosby              2-3  0.400 Kingwood Park    1-2  0.333 Summer Creek    1-2  0.333 Barbers Hill        1-3  0.250 Livingston          0-2  0.000 GC Memorial        0-2  0.000
