The ultimate version of self flattery. Come on Bamakid. When i was living in the FWD area I talked to a lot of people about football and when i could i mentioned high school football and more people mentioned the likes of Dayton and Vidor then they did PNG. Just stating my opinion.
I lived in the DFW area also and when the city of Vidor was mentioned up there it had nothing to do with Sports unfortunately. Lived in Grapevine and worked in Southlake. The good folks at the old "Dragons Den" knew all about PNG football. And go to Plano and ask folks about PNG. We stayed in Plano durring Ike and when we went out wearing PNG shirts we had several people stop and talk about HS football.
Next year. LCM, Central, PNG and Jasper. Put this in your memory bank. When this becomes "FACT", I want "CREDIT". (thanks for the info. Ricker)
Not sure about PNG. PNG has added PAM as one of our three pre-district games. I can't see us going away from the Crosby game as it appears to be a pretty good matchup. Maybe WOS will replace Tx City or if Livingston ends up in another district and we get a 4th pre-district game. PAM Crosby WOS would be great for us PNG Fans. Thats three quality opponents with speed and we wont have to travel all over the place. -

Agreed. Just feel the need to stand up for Faircloth and Company when the BS unfactual situations are spewed on this board. If you don't no it as a truth...Don't post it. As far as Vidor Football is concerned...Good Luck. Hope you beat up on the Lions. -

mytwocents go back and read the bold part again, It say late hit OB not QB. You guys probably couldnt see as well as we could, but Mathews berated that official for quite a while. Message I had was just make ur argument and move on. You get better results. Please tell me when Faircloth has ever called a Time Out up big in a gaame to score more??? Sounds like more PNG hater made up BS that you have bought into without actually finding out that it is not factual! -

Glad we had an injury free game....One of the best games I have seen this season!
You can believe what you want to believe that is your right but our team and community lost a friend and a teammate last week and really still are not over that. The sign could have said real men pray, but someone probably would have said that was not right, but please stop thinking everything has to do with ya'll. I think that would not be allowed by Mathews or his wife who is the cheerleader sponsor. Maybe some some on here feel a little defensive for some reason. Hmmm
I will admit the sign could have been worded differently, but it is what it is and if it helps any I will apologize for our community and cheerleaders and whomever else if this will be dropped. Our kids are still mourning the loss of their brother and that is all it was meant for...again we are sorry it offended anyone and I am sure it will be reworded for next weeks game. If anyone of you know Coach Matthews, he would not have allowed this sign to do harm to any oppossing team...he is not like that, nor is his wife who sponsors the cheerleaders.
I for one think Matthews is a class act ! He has told my boy great job on plays that he made on his sideline this year and last. Good luck Vidor !
Thats because he's made alot of those plays the past two years against Vidor. Chase has really turned into a great player. One of the all time great PNG DB's!

The Vidor O Line has been good for several years. Dan Welch was a great O Line coach for PNG and has worked wonders for Vidor. I think it is no suprise that Vidors rise the past three years corrolates with the hiring of Welch. -

Soulja, that DB was # 8 Chase Romero. Speed! Same kid that took a KO against Crosby 102 yards and picked off Green of Ozen at the five and took it 95 yards for a TD. What Horsecollar are you refering to? Do you even know the horse collar rule? The play in question was shown on replay. Tackle was made from the side. NDN pulled him down by the pads, yes, but not from the back and not backwards. That is not a horsecollar. And Vidor was never called for a horsecollar. The only Personal Foul on Vidor was the late hit OB, Which was legit. If anyone should be upset about the officiating or lack there of it should be PNG. Nelson was held on every pass thrown his way and got only two calls. Got tackled on one play while the ball was in the air, but no call (Vidor was flagged for being offsides on the play). OF course our coach didn't jump around on the field like an idiot for the next ten minutes about it. Mathews really looked like a fool out there for a while. He does himself no favors acting like that with the officials. You get calls and you don't, make your argument (as heated as you want)then move on!!! -
Hard for me to make a prediction on the Lions without the Bull. He was such a beast to tackle. A real difference maker. Two teams that should know how to defend one another.

I told you guys the PNG Defense has stepped up since that loss to Livingston. Miller had one of his worst games this season. Didn't throw the ball very well tonight, but did enough to get the W. Pirates fought back! Shame so many folks missed it on both sides of the stadium! PNG got sloppy in the fourth Q and Vidor took advantage.
-
The last two times PNG played at Vidor we got to see the Vidor Homecoming halftime spectacular. Seems to me that Vidor would want to schedule someone like Ozen for HC so they could have extra seats for the Vidor fans! ;) I see alot of folks standing at the fences for this halftime show, so I would guess many folks (that can't get tix) just show up and watch the show and leave.
Whats the story on A.J. Smith....dual threat? Pocket Passer?
Pocket Passer. Tall (6'5) with a plus arm. If AJ makes the strides in his game like Miller did from last season to this point, AJ could be special.

Arvie has about 10-15 carries and has fumbled twice. Once we recovered. Folks if you turn the ball over you will loose the coaches trust. I think this is partially what has happened. Chase has there trust and rightfully so. 400+ carries in two years with only three fumbles! Antoine Arvie is a Freshman and from what I hear could be the starting tailback next year. Could see womack in the slot like Lacour.

Dabe: Johnson should play, but not where you think
badndn replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Get him on the field ala Tannehill at A&M who played WR for two seasons before getting his shot at his recruited position of QB. I think it really helped him to understand how to read a defense better. Of course you have to be a great athlete to do it and JJ is a great athlete. -
20-4A District Stats and Standings Thru Week 10...
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
To proove nothing other than the fact that the PNG defense has been pretty salty since the Bull and Livingston compared to Vidor. Again against the same four district opponents (Ned, LCM, Lum, Ozen) yds/carry against PNG 5.4 Vid 5.3 Before the tirade about the backups ensues, PNG played backups against LCM, Lum, and Ozen alot. Vidor against LCM (without Sezar) and Lum (so says Vidor fan, Final score 30-26). I think Dog fans will agree the PNG D were no push overs. Take out the last 2 minutes of the game (80 yard buldog TD run and long drive by PNG to score) and both teams played stellar defense. -

Earl Campbell couldnt run behind our line...all the hype about the line and the running game...ditch it..chunk that tater I think dim whitten is using his brain a little on this one.....Ray grasping at straws
Agreed. RBs are getting popped before as soon as they get the ball. Doesn't matter who you put back there if you have no time to make a cut. If anything put him in the slot. Throw the bubble to him. Get him outside with some blocking where he can make some moves and some plays. His arm is suspect! I think we need to go out and get a cerebral spread QB! Would love to see Doty come back from Oregon. He would fit the offense! -
Pass catching is Hanks, but he is more of an H-Back. That big kid from Nederland is the top blocking back of course Nederland may be the only team actually using a conventional TE. Central maybe.
Oh i know about Romero. Lets see if he can catch Bolinger.
Bolinger probably has nightmares about Romero still from last year, Bolinger had him a good run going untill Romero caught him on the twenty and stripped the ball and recoverded it for PNG .....Take a look ;) [Hidden Content]
Gee I wonder whose gonna cover Bolinger in this game?
God i can't wait for this game. Yes yall did get lucky last year with a bs strip of the ball when Bolinger was already down but i'll go ahead and give it to you. Now lets talk stats. Last year Vidor was average somewhere around 240 yards a game and less than 20 points. Now look at it. This year (not district, the whole year) we are averaging 347 yards per game with 307 of that being rushing yards. Your defense is giving up an average of 341 yards per game with 237 of that in rushing. There's only one team that gives up more yards than yall and that freaking Lumberton. And there are only two teams that give up more rushing yards than yall and thats Lumberton and Central. Vidor has the 3rd best defense points wise, the 2cd best defense yards wise, the BEST run defense in the league, and the 3rd best pass defense. All this bs about we haven't faced the best offense team is just stupid. And as for the fumble thing with Bolinger, he has not let go of the ball at all this year. Yes last year he had a problem with fumbles but from the looks of it he fixed it. I'd love to see Romero take the ball from this year. Good luck.
You might need to check your own stats. I noticed how you included the whole year instead of district. Including a couple of 3a teams. Scoring Avg Yrds Rushing Passing VID 26.8 328.4 280.4 48.0
Yes i included non district. A non district schedule that featured a Very good powerhouse 4A team in Texas High, another team that went to the state game two years in a row before this and a very good BC team. BC who held WOS to 6 points. The same WOS that scored 20 points on your Nederland defense. So i say again Scoring Avg Yrds Rushing Passing VIDOR 16.4 230.6 140.1 90.5
C'mon man! That KVille team is no where near what the past two KVille teams were. They are horrible this year!

Just sayin'.
Your wires are crossed bud. Who ever said that? Central had brandon williams, derrick hall, and charlie thomas on that team that all went on the play college ball. Im sure you will be able to tell me more.
Sort of! Don't think Williams or Hall ever actually played in college.

Missing Louviere will hurt, mainly due to the fact he will be out of the rotation keeping our LBs fresh. Scot Stewart has played alot this season and played very well. He stepped in at Livingston and we heard his name called all night. I am sure that Peveto will move up from Safety as an extra LB against Vidor. His size speed combo will be needed closer to the line Friday night.
And you can't forget the amazing JV game that David Bolinger and Chase Bertrand had there sophomore years at Vidor Junior High (they played at the junior high because the high school field was being used for something). I think both teams had 50+ by the end of the game. Chase with something like 5 TD's and Bolinger with 4 or 5 including a returned kickoff with like 3 minutes left in the game.
Almost forgot about that Barn Burner!
How could you forget about that? IMO that was one of the best football games i've ever seen. Just imagine what that would've been like on a varsity Friday Night Lights game.
Don't have to imagine, we got several of those last year...Ozen 49-42 (OT), Livingston 49-42, Willis 50-47, Manvel 56-46. Lots of long games!!!

ndnsrock44 you know the information I posted about points in reference to PNG Vidor like opponents was not about winning or losing, it was meant as I stated to show that PNG's Defense has improved the past four weeks to the point that they have actually held like opponents to Vidor out of the endzone with the same success and or more sucesfully than Vidor in cases. I know Vidors running attack is very good. I also think that it helps us at this point in the season to have already prepared for and faced this offense (different weapons of course) on two other occassions. It will not be new to our D. I also don't make predictions about PNG, but I will predict a great game with great atmosphere...Vidor, If we turn out the lights will you guys light it up at halftime for us at the Rez? Love the Vidor Homecoming. ;D
No offense but Lumberton's offense is no where near like ours. Our offense relies on misdirection. Lumberton's does not. Yes livingston does run the same offense as us but like any other two teams that have the same offense they have there way of running it and we have ours and they are totally different. But I'll talk to Touchstone about bringing the neon lights lol. And i can't wait to play at the Rez again. That right there is why texas high school football is the way it is. Because of schools like PNG.
Lumberton ran the Slot T against us. They threw more out of it, but it was a misdirection running attack. Just not very succesful.
