1. Again in 3A you don't have to average 275 across the line since you won't be facing teams with an abbundance of huge D Linemen or big LB's. A rested Defense will make more plays and lead to more points. That said, WOS has the athletes to score quickly no mater what offense they are running! The big question is will Cornell put the majority of his athletes on defense? Also from what I understand, this incoming freshman class will have the ability to be very diverse on offense. Good passing QB and several big time targets. Could see some flip floping in offensive philosophy over the next four years??
 2. Outside of KVille the past ten years give me one good reason the GT area should get any respect?
 3. If I had to predict I would go with the same four from last year. The only thing I don't have a feel for outside of Livingston near the top, is what order those four will finish 1-4. In no particular order: Livingston (a lot returning with a powerful running game) Central (Mitchell keeps getting better) Nederland (Loads of Youth last year, but how will they fair loosing Mr. Everything Sonnier) PNG (Loosing Doty is tuff, but they return the top RB and WR and maybe top coaching staff) I think Ozen has the top playmaker in the district in Green and could eek one of these 4 out, but it is a long shot.
 4. Have you even been to the campus in the past 5 years UNLV? A lot has changed since Dr. Simmons took over and 90+% of it is for the better. Dr. Simmons helped bring back football! You make it out that he was responsible for what happened 20+ years ago! I for one trust the man, becuase he has prooven himself.

Livingston 2. Port Neches-Groves 3. Central 4. Vidor 5. Nederland 6. Little Cypress-Mauriceville 7. Ozen 8. Lumberton
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D                                                        H I L A R I O U S ( Every year I hear this same crap  ! AND ? ) @least your consistent
First of all, we beat nederland last year. We beat ozen last year. LCM has lost most of there offensive production. Lumberton doesn't have anything coming back that i know of. The top three are subject to change. But my bottom five, i think, are accurate. Prove me wrong. I'm glad that my pics amuse you. But again prove me wrong.
While I don't disagree with your picks totally, you do have to realize that "proove me wrong" from a Vidor fan is not a challenge! It has been proven year after year with Vidor. Once in 10 years or so is proof enough. A Nederland fan asking you to proove they warrant a 5 spot and out of the Playoffs for the first time in forever is more legit. Good Luck Pirates. Keep the faith. I did like your stable of runners last season!
 6.
What I have seen over the last few years is a Mustang offense that could move the ball up and down the field, but would, at times, have trouble punching it in.  I think Coach Thompson recognized that as well and went to an offense that gives him a tight end and a full back to help punch a few more holes down in the red zone
BINGO.  I suspect you will still see some spread, but beefing up the middle and punching it down your throat regularly and using a little clock will be a winning combo.
 7. No doubt Livingston with all they have returning should be a top pick and Central with Mitchell in year two will be tough, but the rest of the mix is going to be a toss up. Any time you break in a new QB it is hard to gauge how well you will play. I have great faith in Miller and even though on paper it appears that Nicotre is the only returning starter on the OLine, Stasinos got quite a bit of PT last year and did very good. Even Reasons got a little PT as a Soph. So I wouldn't be suprised to see PNG win the district, but I also wouldn't be suprised to see them duking it out week 10 for a playoff spot.
 8. This guy mentioned that WOS didn't have the size in the Oline to run the I like Katy does, but least he forget WOS ain't playin Katy in week 3 of the playoffs! They are playing like 3A programs who also don't have a huge D-Line. Cornell is going to hang his and the WOS hats once again on the Chain Gang. Ball control offense with a rested defense that will make plays! Hard to argue that it won't bring WOS a State Title at some point since the spread hasn't gotten them very far either!!!
 9. What age group? This is what I would recommend for a younger group: 10U-12U Register both. Play lots of USFA because of the subtitution rules which enable you to play more people. This is key for the younger ages to find out who can compete. Also USFA has had the State Tourny in BMT the last few years.  Play ASA State and see how you fair. If you qualify for nat's and feel you can compete, go for it. I would also suggest that you do the USFA Panama City thing before they get to 14U at least once. Great fun and pretty good softball. 14U and above Once you reach 14U most everything should be geared toward ASA. ASA is where the big dogs play and where the most exposure is once they get into the recruiting age. ESPN is trying to push the Premier Fastpitch deal as well. Seems to be getting some meat.
 10. Highlights of top returners Offense Bertrand - RB (1800+ yards) Hanks - HBack Nelson - WR (1000+ yards) Lacour - WR/Wildcat Nicotre - OL (Starting LT last two seasons) Stasinos - OL Reasons - OL (played some last year) Defense Davis - DL Peveto - LB (Only a Soph. last year) Sperl - LB (move from DB) Louviere - LB Hollier - CB (played well when healthy but missed most of 2010) Romero - S

 12. Alot of the top players out of HS that wanted to improve on their draft status go the JUCO route because they only have to go one year and be draft eligible as oppossed to the three years of D1 that is required to become draft eligible. Nutty rule, but it really makes for some strong JUCO programs.
 13.
So what happens if Cody and Johnson both end up at Lamar? Will Johnson stay if Cody beats him out or will he change positions? Or if Johnson were to beat Cody out, what would happen?
Has Johnson been annointed the Starting QB at LU? Prewitt had a pretty good spring. While I expect Johnson to push Prewitt pretty hard I thought the QB spot was still undetermined? Maybe I missed it. Green will tear up the SLC!
 14.
I heard he is too quick to run it and needs to learn to stay in the pocket a little longer and get more throws in.  He will get it worked out!
Not a big problem at the HS level. When you get to the College ranks it gets more tricky making yardage on the ground. I watched Central against Humble in round 2 last year and had Mitchell used his feet more they would have won handley, but it was clear early on that he was being told to stay in the pocket for some reason. It wasn't until late (too late) that it appeared they gave him free reign and Central made it exciting.

UNT, ULL, ULM, ArkSt., all close.
Lamar probably has to go to the WAC first to have any chance to get to the Sun Belt.
If ULM can get into the Sunbelt...LU can...I've read where the Florida teams are looking to go CUSA.

I think if he polishes up his game some he could be a player. He made a lot of plays that he couldn't finish, but give him a couple more years and he'll be fine.
And he's in college?
He was a RS freshmen this past season and he showed me a heck of a lot more than Coy Custer did his freshmen RS season.
Agreed! Coy never really improved his game. He was a horrible defender and bad with the ball. He could shoot, but it was just too hard to get him the ball. Osas impressed me when his minutes improved late in the season with his deffense.
Yep...Again you can't train height and he has it at 6'11". He will never be an offensive threat, but he could and probably will be an excellent shot blocker and low post defender. He has already shown great strides in that area since he got on campus two years ago.
 20. Nederland has one of it's better group of athletes coming up as Juniors and Seniors and even some sophs next year, but so does WOS! The WOS Sophomore class next year is stout and the Freshman class is even better. This may be Big Neds last year to run with the ponies! This may be Texas 3A's last year to run with the Ponies! I predict big things at WOS in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
 21.
Roster lists him at 6'8" and 227lbs.  He averaged 6.5 pts and 4.5 rebounds and lead the team in blocked shots. He's number 3 in the team photo; he looks the part. [Hidden Content]
Notice the roster also says #20 is 6'8" and it is clear Acosta is a couple inches taller than him, so who knows?? The big question is, is he better than Keyser?
 22.
Hope people remeber these 40 times when football season rolls around and they start talking about how fast the kids are on their high school team. Daddy times are sometimes not very accurate. just sayin.
BINGO! Unless a viable third party times it, it didn't happen. I wonder about the "Combine" numbers from earlier this Spring at Bmt. Christian? Probably legit?? As far as the Cards go, Logans times were not bad for a RB, but that was about it!
 23. Some of those 40 times are...Well... :-[

With Coach T, being the mann now, I have heard that the power running game is coming back and the spread will be put on the shelf. Lindsey will get the bulk of the carries, and will be running behind a fullback at alltimes this season, which will make him that much better. Also he will have several good young backs that will complement him well, which should keep him fresh and healthy throughout the season.
where you heard this from?
I heard it also!  ;) Get back to power football, keeping the defense off the field so much. Get back to the "Chain Gang" winning football games.
 25.
Bertrand benefited greatly from that good O-Line, especially that big mean nasty left tackle they had.  From my PN-G contact, most of the O-Line will be gone.  I have questions about Bertrand's running with a mediocre O-Line.  He's no Harmon.  Holmes will put up good numbers in the Central game, but will fall short.  We don't lose to many times to 'one man shows'.   ;)
The PNG LT is returning. He was only a Jr. The RT (Lunceford) graduates as does the RG (Braud) and LG (Langois). While I appreciate experience, I think PNG's O-Line will be stout next season again. Several of the returners for next season got PT last year and played very well. Nicotre returns at LT as a three year starter. Reasons will be at one of the gaurd spots, he is a big kid (6'3" 250+) with a mean streak and will be a Junior. Stasinos will be at the RT spot. He played some for Nicotre last year when he was injured and did very well. He is also big (6'5" 250+). Outside of that not sure who will step into the Center and other gaurd spot. Bertrand has gotten faster and stronger, but I look for a reduction in his numbers because the passing game will not be as wide open (I suspect). He is no where near the prospect that Holmes is. While Chase is a very good high school RB, he doesn't have the speed or size that bigtime colleges are looking for. The majors want either a sub 4.5 or a 6'0" 210+ guy and Chase is neither. Same was the case with Harmon. They will probably measure about the same in their Senior seasons. Both 5'9" 200 lbs range. And to my PNG bretheren, this is not a bad mouthing of Chase Bertrand, as I know the kid and his father and whole family well. It speaks more about the big time colleges. I think Chase is great at what he does and has the one thing that isn't measured...HEART! As far as the best in SETX...If you include Houston, the Wright kid from Lamarque hands down...If not then the kid from Coldspring was pretty dominant when I saw him last year.
