1.
Heard from one player that Tremell Adams will likely transfer. He also said several JC big guys are being recruited.
Sorta what I expected in another thread. This team needs an experienced big man or two to go with all the senior laden talent to make a run next season. Hate to see Adams go. I really like his game, but I can understand. He can get back closer to Chicago and play DII.
 2.

Ones that don't want to work and ones who want the summer off.
No such thing in college sports. Doesn't matter the sport, don't expect a summer!
Especially now-a-days. Coaches loose sight of a kid for a few minutes and they are getting into trouble and the finger is pointed at the PROGRAM!
 3. Again I ask you, who has come out of this area since Gulley that had his skill set and was not being recruited by UT, OU, or the NBA? You can say all you want, but LU is not going to win a recruiting batle with any of those programs for local talent! We signed the Hardeman (I think that was his name) kid from Silsbee a few years back and he bolted after one good freshman season for Tennessee! Bose - NSU - Australia Clavell - SHSU - Puerto Rico Pratt - NWS - NY, NY Gibson - UTSA - Houston P.Richard - MSU - Carencro, LA Kaplan - MSU - Canada Baker - NWS - NY, NY Watt - AMCC - Chicago M.Johnson - UTSA - Dallas J. Hill - UTSA - Australia This is the list of the top scorers in the league this year. Notice they are all from "afar". Not one home grown talent. Richard would be the closest as Carencro is about 70 miles from LC. UTSA wins the conference and go check their roster, not a lot of kids from SA which has a much larger market than the GT.
 4.
For anyone interested... LSU is still looking for some teams to the ball exchange on the field for the last home series in May. If you're interested I can get you the contact information needed.
I think we are making plans to make that trip. We took the girls to see LSU/Mcneese Wedensday in Lake Chuck and they loved it. They hung on the fence next to LSU's dugout all night and saw a great ball game. Wish you could have made it Cody. Looking forward to them seeing the facilities in Baton Rouge!
Now theres a novel concept!
 6.
Ever hear of a guy named James Gulley from Newton?  I would also suggest that the last 5 years proves that bringing in the mystery player from "afar" certainly hasnt been the answer either.
How long ago was that? Who in the last 20 years has come outta the GT that LU could have gotten that was a star somewhere else? The Hancocks were nice players, but not must have players. If PK is going to be successful he is going to have to recruit Houston and DFW hard.
 7.
14U Young Guns and Orange Crush Shug in Sugar Land... Around 30+ Quality Teams in that one.....
Without a doubt the best tournament top to bottom so far this year as far as quality teams. Gonna be a lot of really good softball games! Good Luck to both locals in this one.
 8.
Athletic bigs are at a minimum, especially at the mid major level
Typically if you get one at the Low/Mid Major level he went the JUCO route because of academics and you were willing to take the risk. The athletic bigs that LU has had in recent history were of that variety, ala Fairley, Beard, etc.. The only guy that PK signed to TT that had any ties to LU was Petteway (his big brother was a staple at LU several years back and the younger version was at many of the games), but he has Big 12 talent from what I hear and would probably not be interested based on that fact alone.
 9.
Lynch is the better player but he isn't '6"9. ;) LU needs a big man.
Yes he is 6'9", but we just graduated a 6'11" big that I wouldn't sign again! We don't need another one of those do we? Brown played well down the stretch last year and Ebomwani looked like he could be a player defensively (don't think he well ever be much of an offensive threat) at the end of the season. We need a big in the mold of Thomas Fairley with this current group. Athletic big.
 10.

The school board election is where change needs to be made, most people haven't figured that out. As far a people being in positions because of other things other than ability, well that has been going on with the program for a while. To much putting on friends and family and passing over people who are probably more qualified, so don't assume by what your hearing that, these people you are referring to are only being put in these positions because of anything other than ability. It's giving these people the opportunities that they were constantly being passed over for. As I stated, I love coach Thompson. I don't want my comments to leave people thinking I have anything against him. I think he is a great coach, but as I stated there are some things that the new coach needs to be willing to do in order to bring this school and program to the next level. There are alot of good candidates and we want a great coach, but we also want someone who is going to care about every sport, every kid and give every kid the opportunity to succeed on and off the field. Kids don't need to be ran off from the school because they don't fit the stereotype of what a mustang player should look like. Every kid should get the opportunity to shine on the team , not just the player that you looked at when they were in the seventh grade and you decided, this is going to be my starter in high school...make them earn it, because this kid might not have gotten any better since, but the one you overlooked back then might have, but you will never notice because you are too busy having this picture of what this kid is going to be in your head that you can't see the superstar on the sidelines. This isn't directed at coach T, but there have been  some of that going on. By the way, I'm a female.
Are you talking about discipline or something else? Because if it's discipline, I have no problem with demanding discipline or exclusion.
In regards to the bolded quote above...I don't think talent evaluation has been an issue at WOS with the current regime! WOS has had more young men go on to earn more scholarships and many at the D1 level than any other school in this area. Most of those kids played and played well in college to. For one of the smaller schools it is quite impressive. So saying that the staff overlooks talent because of a stereotype is ridiculous. I would actually say it has been the other way around at WOS, they find the talent and help them to blossom.
 11. "Longtime college basketball coach Kevin O'Neill gave Pat Knight one bit of advice when Lamar University hired him as its men's basketball coach. 'He told me to hire assistant coaches who are young and hungry to do the job,' Knight said." Hmmm? Young and hungry. How about 29 and ready to eat at the big table! MC!
 12. Not sure how to take this. We need a big man, but I didn't get a good feel for Kyser. Didn't hear much about him this year at HCL and several had told me that he was just OK at Lancaster, that Lynch was the real get from that team. Anyone else have any insight?? I wonder how PK will approach this?? Will he go out and try and sign a HS big man that probably won't help much next year or will he go the JC route to get an immediate impact with the returning Seniors? Tuff call, but I would go the JC route as this team is built to win this year and needs a big to help do so. If they can win 20+ and get into the NCAA it will help to recruit next year with all of the open schollies PK will have.

 14.
Speaking of Texas State ... It seems like it would be SO easy to recruit kids to San Marcos. Take them to the river on a Saturday in the summer and let them see the "benefits" :D BAM they sign the next day lol. I know I would have!
No kidding...That and the fact that its a short drive north to one of the great college party towns in Austin and a shorter trip south to SA.
 15. His wife and family still live in DFW. It has been no secret that he would like to move home!
 16. Adras is the lone coach to not vote for UConn as the #1 team in the country after they won the Title this week. He voted Ohio State. Glad we didn't hire that moron!  ;D
 17. I never understood this hatred of Tubbs(2). He was basically a stop gap after Deane. Year one was tuff, but he was coaching players recruited by Deane to play a slow half court game and we all know they were not conducive to Tubbs style. Years two and three when he got his type player in here LU went 18-11 and 17-14. Since Foster left almost 30 years ago now, those are 2 of the top 10 seasons in LU basketball. Tubbs second time around is the only LU coach since Abetamarco's 2 years that LU has had a coach with a winning record. Here's the really sad fact about LU BBall since 1984...ZERO seasons with single digit losses!!! 6 of 7 from 1978-1984.
 18.
Not sure what you're saying...there's 12 Seniors this year?  If so, trouble next year.  There's 12 Seniors expected for next year?  Not bad!  I'm also wondering where Bville came up with 12 Senior Football players.
It was a joke as in they actually had 12 people in there senior class??
 19.

Having been at Tech while Knight was there, as both an assistant and for a brieft time as head coach, I was ready for him to be gone.  At the same time, I really think that he can be successful here.  He is a class act who is just getting his feet wet as a head coach.  He has made plenty of mistakes while at Tech, and he can learn from those experiences.  All indications are that he has a good recruiting class coming to Tech next year.  Having been in Texas for the last ten years - recruiting Texas high schools will definitely help him hit the ground running.  I do believe that the days of JUCO dominated Lamar teams may be over. He does have some head coaching experience at other levels (USBL and  IBA) and has worked as an assistant at several different schools.  He worked as a scout in the NBA and assitant coach in the CBA.  Finally, he has one of the greatest college coaches to ever live on his speed dial - who also happens to be an analyst on the four letter network.   I am pulling for him, because I genuinely like him and believe that he loves his players and and will have their backs.
But, can he WIN at this level ???
Remains to be seen, but there is a very, very, very long list of coaches that had success at the low major level, but couldn't win when given the chance at a high major! It's just rare that you see one who's first coaching gig is in a power six conference!  This might speak volumes about why you rarely see it. Prooves its best to hire someone who has cut there teeth as a HC at a Low/Mid over a Power 6 assistant with no HC experience. If Cross will be on staff, then it will make me happier about the hire. Knight probably won't be here more than 5 years win or lose so having Cross gain experience at a DI is a good move. I see big things for Cross down the road.
Lossing a game her or there to a few DII does not constitute DII competition to be better than the Southland overall. I'm pretty sure if you go back over the past 5 years the SLC winning percentage versus DII opponents is well over 0.750. This is like saying that the SLC is as good as the SEC because Nicholls State beat LSU this year! The more proper statement would be that the top 10 or so DII teams in the nation would compete well with the bottom half of the SLC on an annual basis.

"Evans would consider a move to Lamar to be a step down."  Lamar is below a DII is very insulting.
The guy said the top D11 teams are better than the lowly Southland and SWAC. If he is correct, then there is no harm or foul done ;) Personally, I think Southland is ONLY one step above SWAC
I'd have to agree, but if he did get the LU job and didn't produce, boy whould he have some 'splaining to do.

I would be happy with any one of the three based on the fact that they have been Head Coaches and just flat out win! Skelton has local D1 experience which in addition to his great track record at the JUCO level is why I have him atop my list. Evans has a long history of winning and some D1 experience so I'd have him second on my list Cross has produced in short stints. The only negatives on him are he hasn't been anywhere long term (he hasn't won at the same place over and over) of course his age has alot to do with that and the other is no D1 experience. I'd love to see him on the LU bench in charge of a defense learning how the NCAA works and possibly taking over 4 or 5 years down the road when the next guy moves on! Could set LU up for 8-10 years.
Most people don't win over and over at that level.  Once you win a couple of times at a school that hasn't won you generally move on.
Most coaches moving up are on average at each school for 4 to 5 years. This prooves that they can sustain the program. Cross hasn't been at any of the three schools for more than two seasons if I am correct??
