PN-G vs. Willis Game Thread/PN-G Wins/Comments

Maybe you didn't see it from your side of the stadium, but your players did way more than huddle at midfield. If that's all they had done, I wouldn't have mentioned it as I have no problem with that, but I'm here to tell you SouthPaugh, they were pointing fingers at our side and and taunting our players on our side. It wasn't just one or two either, it was about one third of the team. And our players went through our run through before Willis did and were already on our sideline when this all occured. The officials had to go out to midfield and stop them. Thats why the officials stood at midfield during the entrances in the second half. Argue all you want on this one SouthPaugh, just calling it like I saw it. I think youll find in the morning when they wake up, that I wasn't the only PNG Fan that felt like Willis showed very little class! I have not seen a team act like that in a long time. But hey like I said once you begin to dissrespect your opponent...you get what you deserve...YOU GET BEAT! Other than all that it was a hell of a game! -
you guys are hilarious. Both sides got chippy tonight. We were flagged more but your players weren't innocent. You had a defensive player kick our #65 after the play and the official missed it. Your coaches whine about every freakin call that goes against them. We lost. We can handle it. But don't call us thugs. Be better winners than that. Your team was no model tonight. Congratulations and good luck. Here's to a rematch next year.
Thug wasn't the word I used, but whatever works for you. It all started with the opening run through when your group of Fine Young Men ran to midfield and taunted our side. They got lucky they didn't start out with a 15 yard penalty. Officials had to go out and turn them around. Good Luck next year!!! Kepp disrespecting your opponents and see where it gets ya! -

Funny how all those Willis cheapshots came back to bite 'em in the end. The personal foul on #56 for taking a swing at #55 for PNG after he was pancaked on that last drive. How about when the Willis player had the blatant face mask take down of Jalali, wrenching his neck, then stood over him taunting him as he was hurt on the ground. To the guy who stated that Willis had class, I call BS!!! That was the dirtiest team I have seen in a long time! Now on to Manvel. -

To go from TD to 2nd and forever That's an emotional high and los within a matter of seconds... I just knew we were looking at a 28-27 Jag win...
Dont wanna make excuses but was it a "phantom" flag or was it a good call? ???
There were actually two flags on the play. One was Holding which I saw as Mitchell went around the edge, the end was wrapped around his guy, but it was declined because it was a ten yarder. The one that was accepted was an ilegal block below the waste (15 yards). Didn't see it, but I agree with Soulja, it had to have occured away from the ball. The Mo changed on the muffed punt, but I thought the game was lost on Centrals first possesion of the second half after Humble went down and scored to tie it at 14, Central Ran for 2, Ran for no gain, then ran for a yard on 3rd and 8 ???. Not sure what the Central OC was thinking, wasn't like they had been running wild in the first half. Other than Heards one TD, the only other rushing yards they had were on QB draws and scrambles. Didn't utilize it until it was too late. -
Jumbotron at the Butch during the Central Humble game said that the PNG Willis game time is 7:30 This site had the Central Humble game starting at 7:00, but Kickoff was actually at 7:30 I'm confussed???

Sad for the kids. Mitchell could have had 300 through the air and 100 on the ground had the staff adjusted. Should have had Mitchell rolling out to give him some options. On the defensive side Central should have went to a 4 man front and stuffed the run. Make Humble throw the ball, they were not very good through the air. QB was inacurate and lofted some throws. #33 was all they had. Make the QB throw more and Central picks a few off!!! Can't believe that Humble team beat Willis by 31. Wonder what we will see tomorrow night? Future is bright for Central if Mitchell is utilized correctly. Needs a QB coach and some time working on timing on all the throws. He had WR open deep all night, but waited too long to throw, but he was making the right decisions most of the night which is impressive for a young QB. Good Season Jags. See ya again next year.
The better coached teams, are generally the better teams. ::) Does it ever dawn on yall at all that maybe WE didn't play up to par? that WE weren't executing? So extremely one-sided on this board its incredible. its SETX or nothing. i try to be as fair and balanced as possible when discussing things, but yall make it hard sometimes. If we, and could we's don't win games.... We were down 14....Central was in position to kill us. We fought back, caught a couple breaks....cleaned up our play...and won. (ITS WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO) geez. the worst ones aren't even Central fans.
Callin' it like I saw it. I think if you went back and looked at my posts after games you would find that when we get outplayed I state it. Nota homer -

Danny Malone/Matt Burnett (tie) 4. Bum Phillips 5. Dan Hooks/Curtis Barbay (tie) Sorry about the ties; we've just had a lot of great coaches here.
Pretty sure she was joking! Being a Homer. Ethridge should be in the top 5. Hooks and Barbay have to be up top as does WRSmith. No disrespect to BF but he jumps Etheridge and Phillips in 1 year??? ::)
-

Big money. The whole draw of playing FBS is the money gained by playing in A. a Bowl game and B. against the big money schools. Most of the big FBS schools, UT, LSU, A&M, etc. Would much rather schedule an FBS lamb for the slaughter than an FCS lamb! -
Minor with 17...Who saw that comming? I see him as a very good perimiter defender that can shut down oppossing scoring threats, but not much of an offensive threat. This is a big plus if he can be another scoring threat off the bench.
I've been to most WB home games at Da Butch this year and a few times have had to go back to the car for "stuff". I never had any trouble coming back. I told them before I left the gate I was coming right back and a few minutes later came back with the same person at the gate. I'm sure if it's another person they may demand proof you already paid but it all boils down to how you talk to people.
No...This was not an isolated case from this past weekend. Many people I talked to had issues at the gate. Still worth not having to take the trip to H-Town, plus it could change from week to week depending on who is there.
Some of it is that high school football just isn't the end all to folks the way it was when I was growing up. When I was a kid at 5pm the stores were closing because everyone wanted to get to the game. I do not think it is that way anymore across the board.....it is in some towns but not as widespread as back in the day.
Great point. With cable and the internet and all the other entertainment options out there today, I can see why the decline in attendence in many towns.

Lamar and road games have not been a very good combonation the past several years. From what I have seen we should win, but I will hold back on making any predictions on this group until they win a few on the road

Todd Dodge to Abilene High??
badndn replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Doubt Dodge would go HS at this point. Pretty sure that Todd will continue to be paid well by UNT until he gets another position since he was in a contract. Usually thats how it works, the contract is void when he becomes employed again. This is one reason a lot of coaches sit out a few years after loosing a job. Best Abilene could do is $100K - $110K per and that would mean a significant pay cut. If he takes any job over the next few years it will be at a major college program that can pay him enough to subsidize the UNT contract. -
You know, why can't the Butch schedule a double header on a Saturday? Maybe more people could attend and daytime football is sure different.
Very, Very difficult to do in a HS stadium. They can do it in the domes or at Rice because they seat 50+ thousand so there is extra seating available while one team waits for the other to finish it's game. Can't do that in a 15K seat stadium. Best you could do is like this Saturday with a 1 PM and 7 PM games. Not really a double header. Actually the chance to watch great SETX HS FB on back to back nights without a long drive is great!

I know they have a 6'6" WR. Put up alot of points, but that district was top heavy. Humble is obviously very good and KP just beat Brenham, but beyond the top 3 the rest were very week.

Going to get a paper so I can read the rest of the article but IMO this is the key to a success team this season as they (newcomers) can all shoot the rock.
Let's hope they can do it in a real game against a good opponent. Our prior years top recruits couldn't shoot the rock in real game situations.
The problem we have had in the past with some of our top recruited guards was that they were 6' or shorter and had trouble getting good looks. This will not be the case with Davis and Adams, which should open up the floor more for the slashers like Harris, Nelson, James and Lamb. -
Final men's hoop scrimmage notes
badndn replied to HoopInsider_Cooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'd expect Davis and Adams to spell one another, which will give us a deep threat at all times. And both are big guards, one being tall and rangey at 6'6" and the other being stout at 6'3" and 200+. No more little guys that have trouble getting good looks and shots off. PG James / Harris / Miles / James 2G Miles / Lamb / Adams / Adams 3G Davis / Adams / Davis / Davis PF Nelson / Harper / Brazier / Nelson C Custer / Brazier / Harris / Custer I think Roc will have a lot of different combonations starting depending on the matchups. Which will be a great benefit to have.
