SFA - Barbers Hill 4 ot's SFA freshman qb converts a 4th and 42 with a fade for a touchdown!!!
I was at that game. This the game where the BH RB had over 50 carries. -
When looking at a receiver I look at alot of things, hands, running great routes, etc. Sonnier runs all the routes, has great hands and for a guy who is not considered fast beats people deep consistantly. Roberts is a guy with college stuff because he is big and fast, but runs mostly deep routes. Saw the Nelson kid once runs alot of quick routes but has really good hands. Just my opinion Sonnier right now is the most polished WR in all phases I have seen this year and last.
Not sure when you saw Nelson, but he has more deep ball catches than anyone I have seen at PNG in a while. Jalali catches a bunch of screens, Nelson goes over the middle and down the sidelines. All I have ever seen Sonnier do is catch the WR screen. Granted that was last season. He is good at what he does no doubt, but I don't think either he or Nelson are the best WR in the area.

I suspect Cody Green will transfer to another FBS school. He would have to sit out one year, but it would be a Red-Shirt year since he got PT as a true Fish. Also since Nebraska is moving to the Big Ten next season he could transfer within the Big 12 and not have to sit out 2 years, which is the case when transfering within the same conference. i personally think Cody would fit in great at TCU! If JJ wants to play QB he will probably have to go FCS. Before you guys get all bent outta shape and insinuate that I am downing the kid as a QB, I am not, but facts are facts, the local FBS schools did not recruit him as a QB for a reason and I doubt anything that occured at WVU changed those opinions. Maybe one of the smaller FBS schools like UNT, ULM or LaTech?? If he goes to Baylor he will not start at QB for the next couple of seasons...RGIII is a stud! -
The Peveto kid was a QB in OF and supposedly was real good. I heard that in the spring he may be looking to move back to qb.
Miller will be QB next year, maybe Peveto will be his backup and start on defense, then start at QB his Senior season?? Miller is a big kid also, with a pretty good arm, not Doty's arm, but pretty good. Miller is a very smart kid and unlike Doty, he has some speed! He is 6'3" 190. I can see us running with him more next year. I was impressed with Peveto last Friday night once he got used to the speed of the game (took a series or two). He smacked the QB on the edge on one play! Ouch. I also liked the fact that Faircloth brought these guys up from JV to play, not sit the bench. It drove me insane three years ago watching Schexneider, Lunceford, Thompson, Easley and Shetley stand on the sidelines for six weeks as Sophomores watching as the team finished last place. Go figure!

The best defensive play I have ever see to win a game! DB (I think it was Kevin Smith) while trailing motion man pre snap, shoots the gap between gaurd and center and tackles the RB as he is handed the ball on 4th and goal from inside the 1 at the end of the game. WOW. I was sitting right there in the endzone and couldn't believe what I just saw!
You were close. The game was in 1987 and the defensive back who made that tackle was Quentin Tezeno, who but for some knee problems in college would have made the same noise as Kevin did.
I knew it was either Tezeno or Smith. Thanks. Tezeno also played QB on that team didn't he? They had a great RB also, was his name Cleveland? That was a great team. -

WOW. I was sitting right there in the endzone and couldn't believe what I just saw! 2. 1999 Semis - PNG vs Schertz Clemens at Kyle Field. The Drive! 25,000 screaming Indian Idiots ;D whatched D. Long drive PNG down the field in the final minutes to win a slugfest and move on to the State Title game. That place was Rockin'. 3. 2009 District Title (Week 10) - PNG vs Central. Blocked extra point returned for 2pts and the PNG crowd goes from stunned to crazed while the Central crowd goes from crazed to stunned. I have never seen such a roller coaster 45 seconds like that in my life at a FB game. I was just praying the stands at the Babe would hang in there for one last hoorah! -
Wow. I hope that LCM and Central beat PNG, mainly because of how ridiculously rude and snobby they are about their win over a bunch of "midgets." "Ltown Loosers" ...spell check! If your going to make fun of us (which is extremely immature to down a bunch of high school kids, I really hope that you are a child yourself) then go ahead...but learn how to spell "Ltown Losers" ...and to say we had one good year, and we think we can hang with the big dogs...WOW?! Luckily, other teams don't post crap like this... And no I'm not being a sore loser either. We lost, it is done and over with...we will focus on next week.
Oh excuse me...I meant LTown Loooser! It was a reference to one poster originally, make that two now! ::) Funny thing is the most obnoxious smack talking fans I can ever remember on here were Lumberton fans.
Even a blind squirrel can find a NUT every now and then! You win one game in District and now your the CHAMPS again. LOL! You want get past Central or LCM! Y
Yes we do WANT to get past Central and LCM! ::) So PNG wins while playing good Defense for the first time all season and the PNG fans are not sopposed to post. You must be a sore LTown Looser! Besides show me a post where anyone PNG poster annoints our boys the DC after this win!

PNGs DJ Schexnider. Moved to MLB tonight and had 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT, 1 Sack, several big hits on the QB, and a bunch of tackles. Easley at NT also had 3 sacks that I counted and a couple of other punishing hits on the QB just as he released the ball (one we picked off).
-
Did I hear right? PNG moved DJ Schexnider to inside linebacker? I hope they did. He can be involved in every play this way.
You heard correct. Very good move. DJ forced both fumbles, had an INT, a sack, and a bunch of tackles! The new LB from JV (#32 Peveto) played well also after getting used to the speed of the game. He knocked the snot out of one RB! He's a big sophomore (6'3" 200). I also thought #17 Hollier up from JV played well at CB. Especially with that hand in a cast. LB Padia #24 was back after getting injured on the opening kickoff of the season and he played well as did LB #22 Segler. Lots of new names this friday night on defense.
Well since merka(crosby) is rated the 34th best qb by scout.com I'm gonna have to say he is the best qb in this area.
Rated by a service that has never seen him play!!!
-
1. Doty should play QB at the next level. 6'3" with a strong arm and very good mechanics in the pocket. I've seen he a Merka head to head twice now and Merka will not play QB at TCU, but he is a good athlete with good size so they will find a spot for him somewhere. 2. Gonzo from LCM is the best offensive player in 4A so far. He scrambles well and throws a pretty good ball, not a better passer than Doty. 3. Taylor from Hardin has great numbers, but how many throws does he actually make down the field? Same goes for Gonzo? Lots of WR screens from what I have seen. 4. I don't know much about the kid from Huffman so I can't really comment other than he puts up big numbers...Could it be the same as Taylor and Gonzo above?
While it's true that LCM hasn't won district in several years, teams can go up and down in their skill level every year and this school, just like PNG, has gone 10-0 before and if memory serves me right, that was when WOS was in our district. Lumberton may not have been completely on their game last Friday, but the defensive showing that LCM put on was one of the best I've seen in this district in a long time. Maybe they just had a real good night where everything clicked just right, but I wouldn't be one bit surprised if their performance becomes the norm for them.
Nope. PNG went 10-0 last year for the first time in 30+ years. In 1999 PNG went 9-1 during the regular season. That one loss came against....WOS! Anybody give any creedence to PNG actually being a big part of why Livingstons defense looked bad? I gotta say this is the best offense I have ever seen from PNG. Yes better than the D. Long led offenses in 98 and 99. This offense is more balanced. If the defense steps it up?? This is proof that Defense wins championships. 20 4A prediction 1. Livingston DII #1 2. PNG DI #1 3. LCM DII #2 4. Central DI #2

Those pinywood Lions did good! Better send them some flowers and hope your D is up for LCM. Their offense is pretty explosive.
They better be worried about them Lions first!
The Lions will cause us problems, no doubt, but they have to worry about us too. Pressure will be on them to protect that pretty good Offensive ypg and that pretty undefeated record...
So who else would you expect to post? We are the only team that has seen them yet. I am telling you folks, that I have seen our defense stop the run against a pretty good running team that ran the same offense as Livingston in Gregory-Portland and Livingston ran right through us. It wasn't just because of a swiss cheese defense, I give a lot of the credit to a very, very good running attack from top to bottom. And my logic is based on the fact that lesser Livingston teams and Vidor teams have beaten better Central teams in the past with this offense. I just can't logically pick Central to beat this Livingston team. Trust me, it's better for our Indians if you do win. Remember a Central win and a PNG win puts us right back in the tittle picture.
When did Vidor beat us? In the 2004 season? Everybody exept Lumberton beat us that year... Was a 1-9 team...
you know what I mean. You guys have struggled with Vidor teams since they went to the misdirection running game. No secret! -
I feel bad going against a fellow 20-4a team, but I will roll with Bridge City. They have showed that their defense is legit. Both have good offenses. But I think I would be BC with the big defensive stop (only need 1) to win this one in a shootout...
I love how everyone is now off the PNG bandwagon! ;D Keep doubtin' us. Just remember we have lost 3 games by a combined 10 points, all in the last minute of the game, to teams who are combined 12-1. We are three defensive stops away from being 4-0.

So you lump all of the SETx coaches in together because you have witnessed a few rotten apples?? How many rotten apples do you think there are in th Houston area. Quite a few!!! I coach, and my daughter plays, imagine that. If you ask any one of our parents if I play favorites with my daughter, they will tell you no in a heart beat. My DD is usually siting the bench when she is not pitching, because she has not hit well the last year. On occassion we play her at 1st for defensive purposes, but we bat for her. Most parents will tell you that our coaches, who are all 3 dads, are actually harder on our daughters than the others. So not all local coaches are playing Daddy Ball. Our 14U team is comprised of girls from the following ISDs, HJ, PNG, LCM, BC, WOS, OField & Deweyville. In other words, maybe you just need to find a team that fits what your daughter needs. Most likely it is not one of these so called select teams that is loaded with players from one small town.

WOW You just posted on another thread that we would go 3-4 in district. so which is it? For the record I agree with you. DI means no Dayton and no Brenham, but FWood ain't no slouch. -

That is absolutely not true... Last year PNG had just as many close games... just got some good breaks last year and were 4-0 last year. This year breaks are going the other way... This team is good. Very solid....Just think they have lost 3 games by a total of 10 points had a chance to win every one. But thats the breaks... They should win the rest of their games no problem.. They ARE that Good...
Not a chance... They won't beat LCM, and the Central and Lumberton games could go either way. That being said, theres a chance that PNG goes 3-4 in district.
If you are basing all of this off of our record I understand, but using just a little bit of Logic tells me that the Indians that have lost three games, all in the last minute of the game, to three teams who have a combined record of 12-1, are not your typical 1-3 team. This reminds me of some of the Nederland teams in the past 5 years that started out loosing close games, but everyone knew they were better than the record and they finished at or near the top of the district. I sure hop efolks write our boys off! ;D
