Central vs Livingston Prediction thread
badndn replied to D3zii's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Central has had loads of trouble against misdirection running attacks like Livingston and Vidor the past few years and I will go on record as saying that this Livingston team is much better than the Livingston or Vidor teams that Central struggled with in the past. And Centrals defense is not as good as it was last year or the year before. -
More like last season the rest of the coaches didn't really know what to expect from PNG's coach.
No fluke. Last years team was better only because the defense was legit. Loosing our LB's and DB's has really hurt us this year. Our offense is actually better this year. If we had last years LB's and DB's we would be 4-0 right now. GP would not have been able to throw deep on us like they did, and neither would TC and we would have stopped Livingston on 3rd down at least once ;D which was the difference in the game last night (poor tackling and last year's group brought you down if they got to you).

(talking about Livingston)
Not sure, but they are huge. A lot of cut blocks. The only thing that got me last night was how a team could run the ball 60 times and never get called for holding? Especially a misdirection team. Of course we ran it 40 times and didn't get called either. Who knows??
I think our D-Linemen will hold their own. I just hope when we have a chance to punish the ball carrier, we will put it on him...I also hope we aren't fooled by that misdirection stuff. But at the same time, they will have to stop us as well. I like our chances...
From what I have seen of Central, they have suffered from the same issue as PNG. The loss of those LB's from both squads. This is were Livingston hurt us and IMO will hurt Central. Against a missdirection runnning attack the LBs are the key to stopping them not the DLine. -

I said Livingstons running game was better. PAM would beat Livingston IMO, but not mop the floor with them. Unfortunately we will never know. -
Memorial was the best running attack that I think we will see this year. I also think our DL have been playing lights out since the Brook game... All I know, Livingston better have another mistake free game to get this one... Also, they will have to stop our running game... That will be hard to do. Jags 38-34
Seen 'em both and the Lions running game is head and shoulders above PAM's (of Course PAM has a better all around game). Livingstons O-Line is massive and they will take it to you, plus they have a couple of good backs and a QB that can move. Now the Lion defense is another story. We moved the ball on them at will. I predict Livingston wins another shootout 42-35. -
Thanks. A lot of offense, very little defense! I think we witnessed the top two teams in this district battle it out at the Res! Good Luck Lions.
-
Impressive ground game. Those hosses up front and the stable of backs, wow. We didn't tackle well either, especially on third downs for some reason. I will make another prediction here and know...Livingston goes undefeated in this district. And no one from this district gets past the second round! Defenses are way too suspect (Lions fans gotta admit their team didn't fair very well defensively). Another tough loss for Indian fans. Three losses in the last minute of the game. Begining to wonder when the trend is bucked and our boys make the play to win one of those games. Hey Lionfan, see how we returned to the MB after a loss...Take note!
-
Just pointed out the facts. Sometimes the truth hurts. ;D Never even made any suggestions concerning my Indians.
Love the fact that it's usually an Indian or a Beaumont team fan that usually brings up our opponents records and last years records. The same fans whose teams collectively are 3-6, but of course you guys played world class teams that you have no chance of beating at the end of the year either (thought I'd put that in before one of you talks about your opponents abilities).
You really think PNG would stand no chance against 3 & 0 GP (1 point last minute loss) or 3 & 0 TxCity (2 point last second loss) a second time around? I agree the BMT schools would not beat WB or PAM if they had a second shot, but we didn't exactly get throttled in our two losses. We agree on one thing, we are all 0-0 right now and if Livingston throttles us tonight I will admit we have trouble, but if the results are anyhting like last season??

If someone asked him to pose for a pic and he said no , not during a game, how many would blast him for thinking he as too good to take a pic, when he is not in uniform. Both of the boys are kids, they make mistakes, we all need to remember that.
Good points, but I understand it to be that nobody is handling it (see bold above). Herein lies the problem. Others feel a double standard for the guy with the tattoo that reads "The Chosen One"! ;) -
The Indians have prooven that they are tuff against the run. Livingston has throw 8 passes all season and beaten 3 teams that are a combined 1-10. I'll go with my injuns in this one.

I also read alot about the LTrain defense on here, but they are giving up 21 pts per game so far. Not something to write home about. PNG has given up 19.6 Pts per game to pretty good 4A competition and our Defense is our weekness so far! LCM-27 Lum-24
Dude, if it weren't for your big win over Crosby, which is apparently not nearly as good as last years team, PNG's defensive points allowed would be more like 26 points per game average get off your high horse.
Well DUDE, if you read the post again you will notice that the point I was making is that PNG has given up almost 20 PPG and thats not good. Not sure how you see that as being on a "high horse". We ain't bragging about. It's actually just the opposite! But on the flip side of that Lumberton is actually giving up more PPG than PNG and you guys are bragging about the defense! So by your analogy that Crosby is weak and we only gave up 7 points to them therefore bringing our PPG against numbers down, how do you explain Lumbertons numbers against 3 weak opponents. And before Silsbee fans get upset, I completely understand that the tigers were without their starting QB in the first half as Lumberton jumped out to a 21-0 lead, then clawed back in the second half when he returned to the game to make it a 21-14 game. The weakness comes in lossing your QB.

Sometimes all teams need is that 1 win to get things going
Ball won't be anywhere near the playoffs! You heard it here first. :o
And you heard it here second. I've seen TC, FWood and Ball so far...TC and FWood are light years ahead of Ball. Not to mention Manvel, Lamarque, and even 3-0 Santa Fe. Ball will finish last in that district. They just got the prediction based on a drop from 5A. -

Agreed. Also remember that Chase is only a Junior. Remember how much bigger and stronger caleb got between his junior and senior FB seasons. Word is Chase is working with Caleb just as Caleb did with Josh before him. I love that our RB's feed experience down to the next guy. It's like a fraternity. Good Stuff. -

As for those that keep wanting to point at the lose of Harmon as an issue or that Bertrand is an issue take a look at the numbers for each after three games this year and last. Yr Carries Yards YPC TD 2009 Harmon 60 361 6.01 4 2010 Bertrand 72 391 5.43 3 Were you giving up on Harmon at this point last year or singing his praises, cause the numbers are pretty comprable? -

A Break Down So Far in order of record and Alphabetic LCM 3-0 Record of teams played (1-7). LCM has given up 91 Pts. Livingston 2-0 Record of teams played (0-5). A struggling young 3A and a Houston team...Nuff said. Lumberton 3-0 Record of teams played (3-5). Two 3A's and BHill. Central 1-2 Record of teams played (7-2). -86 pts in two losses to good 5A's and a win against a bad Ball team (anyone who watched Balls backup QB heave passes up to whoever was around understands). Nederland 1-2 Record of teams played (2-6). Where WOS has proven it's legit, GCM has proven it's not! BH?? Really?? PNG 1-2 Record of teams played (6-3). 3 points is the differnce in being 3-0. GP has given up a total of 16 pts in it's other two games against power Callallen and 5A Carroll. Ozen 1-2 Record of teams played (7-2). -42 pts in two losses to good 5A's and a win against a bad Houston Sterling team. Look better than Central so far! Vidor 0-3 Record of teams played (8-1). Two 3A's and a good 4A. Who I Got 1. PNG 2. LCM 3. Lumberton 4. Ozen 5. Livingston 6. Central 7. Nederland 8. Vidor -
I know it's early yet, but I do not think it is going to look like this come the end of district play. From what I have seen, I am guessing more like this (if we can keep a healthy QB) 1. PNG 2. Nederland 3. Central 4. LCM 5. Lumberton 6. Livingston 7. Ozen 8. Vidor All for supporting your team but no way can I see Nederland being #2.... I think PNG is the tops of the district but all other spots are up for grabs... I think Ozen will surprise some people (#7 would be a disappionting year for all that speed)
I think this is based on the Bulldogs getting Forney back next week before district. If this happens and they can become balanced on offense with what looks to be an improving running game, then I can see Nederland doing well in district.
