1. As I recall we didn't blow out BH in the opener last year. In fact it was a tight win against a much lesser opponent than GP. We then came out the next week against a better team than BH in Crosby and really handed it to them.

Not the stuff dreams (playoff dreams that is) are made of. You will also find it much tougher sledding trying to run the ball in 20-4A. While I don't predict LTrain as Cellar Dwellers, I am not sold as top 4 yet either. PNG gave up 280 through the air which is a potential problem, but I don't think we will see a QB like GP had in our district. The kid was a three year starter and very savy. Vidor & Livingston wont throw much and neither will Central. We stuffed the GP running game to a 2.4 ypc mark which is stout considering that's been their MO.
This coming from a man whose team had an explosive 68 yards rushing.
Our two RBs averaged 4.2 ypc. While not great it aint bad either against Smallwood and co. Didn't run a lot because we were moving the ball well through the air. Ran the ball once on the opeing drive for 8 yards. The PNG offense will not be an issue this year either by land or air. Stopping the passing game on defense on the other hand could be our boys undoing in weeks 11 and beyond against the likes of Freindswood, Brenham, Dayton and co.

Do you even know where Port Neches or Groves are? Brenham to Aldine - 72 miles Port Neches to Aldine - 103 miles Do a tiny bit of research before you write non-sense. Did you know that each team was given the same allotment of tickets? Now who has the most fans, while it is fun to be a part of, doesn't win or loose ball games, but to state that Brenham blew out PNG last year (27-21 PNG driving very late to take the lead) is ignorant or idiotic one, not sure which, but Penny could correct me!  ;D BrenhamBaseball, Did you actually go to the game, or were you one of the ones that thought it was sold out with out actually taking the time to find out the truth and stayed home??
Under Burnett, he had the talent to smack you in the face about every 5 years. In between when the talent was different (not what he coached) there were drop offs.  I think what we are all anxious to see is how Faircloth adjusts to the talents each class brings. Early impressions are that his style is not a cookie cutter.

I think the coaches their need to work on the boys not holding receivers so much, it could be one of those holding penalties that could cost them a game. PAM's offense is good. Very fast ! good passing game. Ya'll have some great size on your team this year as well. Ya'll are gonna be just fine in your District and the playoff's, hopefully no injuries. PNG was very vanilla basic. It was a good scrimmage to get our feet wet again and knock some more rust off. I'm sure PNG will be in stride come Saturday at the Dome. Good Luck PAM on your season ! I liked your new turf it looks very nice.
I think it was good for both teams as well. No injuries is alway a plus
BINGO! Got to hit someone else and no one got injured. Mission accomplished. Good Luck to the Titans. I see good things for them this year in what should be a tougher dsitrict with Laporte in and Lee out. WB, NS, Laporte and PAM, pretty stout foursome!
;) Glad he will be at LU. This kid was a real Beast!
 12. I think folks are really underestimating the Dayton Bronco's. Why I have no idea? This program has been very good for several years now. Also think Angleton is over rated.
 13. Also don't forget if you go out your first year and give scholarships to nothing but incoming freshman to fill your team, you are killing yourself in recruiting the next several years.

They haven't even been that good in recent years.
You are following Sam's methods... Lamar hired SHSU's old head coach and the reason was that he would bring consistency to the offense from the previous OC that you hired...yep, you guys are implementing the offense that took our program south! Prior to your OC's regime, we were in the Division I semifinals (2004) and had we beat Northwestern State in the regular season, we would have been hosting Montana for the second time that year (beat the then-No. 1 Grizzlies in Huntsville in September) in the semifinals instead of going to Missoula in the semifnials...
And you did all that with a two year transfer at QB!!! Imagine that. ;D
A big game for PNG to establish some props right out the gate.I picked GP only because whoever you are losing 43 seniors will not be so easy right out the gate.I do think like Dayton they get better as the dist.time comes around as trying to tweek and find replacements.
While I agree that most 4A schools loosing 43 seniors is rough, but PNG usually has more kids come out for football than West Brook and a lot of other 5A programs.

 18.
There are only 64 teams that can qualify for the "GOLD" Nationals. Only a certain number come from specific tournaments held all around the country. If you go to the ASA GOLD website it will show how some of this works. Yes you can play gold but you limit yourself in ASA . Has no effect on any other organization. Also any girl that has played college ball CANNOT play ASA GOLD  but they can still play ASA "A" if they meet the age requirements. Basically it is suppossed to be an ELITE division within ASA. It is pretty hard to qualify to go to GOLD Nationals.
Hence the "Scrap Metal" name for Cheaters 18U team this summer. Could no longer be considered Gold because they had college players. New rule.
 19.
Just like I said girls was picked because they was already on a select team before but is it fair to other girls that are better than most that already played. no its not if you going to pick a team like that then why have TRYOUT. because some of the girls that tried out that have never played select performed way better. So I should tell my child u are an awesome player but you didn't get picked because they look at former players first total not fair. You hear rumors about this kind of things go on with select teams but I didnt want to believe It but now I see for myself.  you can say what you want but my daughter is just as good as the other girls and I know that for a fact. Thank god they have real coaches that recognize real talent
Every Select Coach in this area reads this MB. Do you really think they will give your daughter a fair shot after your posts complaining about not making the first and only team she tried out for? ::) Good Luck! And don't forget that it is not just the kids that are trying out. As it will be when colleges start recruiting. They look very hard at the big picture, attitudes on and off the field (parents included).

He went on to have a pretty good season.
Yeah, but I believe Reyenga started his junior year.  It appears that PNG's receiving core (excluding Jalali) will all be coming up from JV (although the JV was highly competitive)
Wrong...Reyenga was on JV his Junior year. And they rarely threw the ball on JV under Burnett. Coming into last year everyone new about DeRon and Segura who had started the year before.

There were 10 girls that made the trip to Lufkin, but the other two pitch as well.
Herein lies the problem...Only one ball! Very difficult to get pitching time for 7 girls in one tournament!
Sorry to chime in, but I would like to give some advise to "pitching time".   Any team that is going to be competitive needs to have at least 3 pitcher in rotation (Unless you have the next Cat or Finch in the dugout).  As my DD is moving on to college ball we have played/pitched for some good and bad teams, and I made the mistake of worrying about "pitching time".  But this is what i have learned from success and failures.  Get a rotation and stick to it if pitcher if pitcher A gets the rock for the first game then pitcher B knows that they needs to be ready to come in to either finish or start the next game. Once pitcher B is in then the same is true for pitcher C and so on.  I personally like to have 4-5 pitchers in tournament play. Now at the younger age groups they need to pitch and play something else.  But starting at 14u they need to know what their job is and the coaches need to let them do their job "pitch the ball".  Hey there were time when my DD had the rock at a championship game in triple ITB  and I wished it wasn't her turn, but you know what she knew the job was hers and that she needed to step it up.  Pitching is more about practice than game time, games really only give you the things to work on the next week in practice.
Dead on correct. Any successful team should have three pitchers. But when you have 7, which is what they indicated in this case, your gonna have issues! You know it and I know it. Someone is going to get upset. ::)
 23.
There seems to be a trend away from what is best for the team and your teammates to what is best for me. I think it is a sad trend.
Do you really want a kid who's heart is not all in it and might be more worried about injury than making plays running your team? I have to say that Mr. Smith probably made this decision based on his own past (injury last year) and the previous two QB's, who both were/are bound for college as baseball players and not football players. Good for him. I say it's a sign of maturity. He made a tough decision about his future.
