2.

Honestly I think Ford is the best player on the list for the offensive players. But I say Jeremy Johnson or the west brook guy wins it JMO.
what about defense, everyone is talking about offense
I say Jacoby Hale, but I didn't see Garrett or Irvin. Hale was tremendous. A game changer.
When a coach decides to shop around for jobs that he has no intention of taking, whether a school district approaches you or not, to get a raise from you current school, is no longer in it for the kids. IMO
He is in it for the KIDS...His KIDS. Congrats to him.
 4. Good move. Being an OC and learning the college game before becoming a HC! worked for Art Briles. The opposite hasn't worked out so well for Dodge at UNT who went straight from HS to UNT as HC.
 5.
Very nice ndn I think some of you are using only the past year or two
Thanks, Remember the bold quote!
1. WOS in the past ten years no one has consistently beat them one person said they'll always go three or four rounds deep and lose I'd say that's pretty good THE MIDGET RB WILL SURPRISE NEUTRAL
WOS got 8 points from the 2000 state title run 10 years ago. That's gone next year. Without it WOS would have had 7 points and finished 10th on this list. Interesting!!!! Also WOS had the highest Win %, but just didn't get it done in the playoffs over the past 9 years (except 2005). I think this says more about the 3A district then it does WOS.
2. Newton just as successful as WOS but smaller classification is deciding factor and head to head I'm guessing goes to WOS NEVER CHANGE
Newton has two state title runs and is the only team in the area with an actuall State Championship. Head to Head vs WOS might not go to WOS (ask Kirbyville  ;)). Newton is head and shoulders above the pack right now over the past 10 years.
3. Dayton pretty much owns two 4a districts not as consistent playoff success as the two prior. NEUTRAL
Picked up a lot of points the past three years and looks to get stronger!
4. Central guess they're the perrenial sleeper cause they get little respect on here UP
Central was aided big time by the playoff runs from the past few years. But they only have 1 ten win seasons in the past ten years. Moving up lately.
5.  Silsbee only team that interests us when they play WOS in district UP
(4-6) (5-6) (1-9) (0-10) (9-1) (4-5) (9-3) (4-6) (6-5) (7-5) records over 10 years. That and only 3 playoff wins. Two of those in one year And only one with JJ. Remember the quote at the top!
 6. I did some research and over the past ten years I figured win% (total % .80 being .8 pts), Playoff wins (1 pt per), State Title Apearences (3 pts per), State Championships (5 pts per). Results below speak for themselves.             Points 1 Newton 36.80 2 Dayton 21.73 3 KVille 21.68 4 Jasper 19.63 5 WOS 15.82 6 Ned 12.65 7 Central 9.59 8 BC 8.61 9 WBrook 8.50 10 BHill 5.74 11 EC 4.71 12 PNG 4.61 13 Sils 3.48 14 PAM 2.51 15 Lum 2.48
 7. WOS #1?? Have you been paying attention? #1 Dayton - Model of consistency including State title game last year. Neutral #2 Newton - Allways a threat in November. Neutral #3 Kirbyville - With the bulk of that in the past four years (Two state title appearences does that for ya) Rise #4 Jasper - How quickly you folks forget the great State title game against Gilmer a few years back. Rise #5 WOS - And dropping. Fall #6 Nederland - Great area team, just haven't made it all the way.Neutral #7 West Brook - Moving up with the past five years. Previous five not so much! Rise #8 East Chambers - The Thomas era was pretty good.Fall #9 PNG - Up and down the past 10, but there were a few DC's and two and three round seasons and the future looks good. Rise #10 Silsbee - Up and down. Rise
 8. The Cards again shot well in the second half (well over 50%), but the reason this one was close was because Mcneese shot 57% for the game. LU gives up way to many easy layups! Allways have since Tubbs then Roc.
 9.
best to get rid his a s s  now before the season gets close.would hate to lose him but png head coach would be a good fit at lamar.
It would be a substantial paycut!

 11.
There is NO question that ROC has had a better record than the previous LU coaches........is it really about record though???  I want regular season conference titles and conference tourney titles which will get you into the NCAA tournament!!!!!  Who cares if you go 19-11 and lose first round of the SLC tourney!!!
Conference Tourney titles are really in the grand scheme of things the only thing that you will remember. I mean if you ask any basketball fan but non-LU fan and many LU fans when the last time LU won the conference title, they probably couldn't tell you (2008), but most could tell you that the 2000 team went to the NCAA. Theoretically the better your record the better your shot at making the dance, but look around the country. Very few, if any single bid conferences that get the bid via a tournament, end up sending the same team year in and year out. And at least half of them don't send there regular season champ!
 12.
I don't really think that the talent is terrble at Lamar...........I think that the coaching is very suspect!!!!
Now that we can agree upon. I thought Skelton was a big plus when he was here as an X's and O's guy! Roc has gotten better, but still has a ways to go. This current team is talented, but young. If they do not produce when Harper and Miles are Srs and Minor, Brown, Wesley and co ar Jrs then maybe it's time to call it quits. But statistics (including current year) say that Roc has won more than any other coach at LU since Abetamarco left 22 years ago (and he only had 2 years, one of which was really good). Roc's teams have also won conference games at a better percentage than any coach since Foster (by a pretty good margin) this includes Abetamarco. Remember what they say..."You are what your record says you are!"
 13.

Reminds me of Dandy Don singing "Turn Off The Lights."  Or the da Dove say, " I told you so!"
Dove I will say this............he has some good young talent in there now..........several Freshman and Sophomores are playing big minutes and helping..........I have never been a fan of ROC and never will be!!!!!  He is a product of the system.........that being Memphis!!!!!
So what about the Tulane job before that. They put together some pretty good teams while he was recruiting for the Green Wave. And what happened after he left for Memphis.
 14. I noticed that Brooks Ybarra is now on the Tx. St. roster and has played in a few games...How is that possible since he played in a few games at LU last year? Transfer rules would suggest that he had to sit out this year??
 15.
Badndn.....Lamar Fast Paced huh????  25 points at half!!!
Where is your smart a$$ post about the 46 point second half? And yes compared to the Mike Deane, era 67.2 ppg (THIS YEAR) is like lightning! How is your man crush doing up in NY by the way?
 16.
IF or should I say WHEN Lamar finishes conference an anemic 4-12 or 5-11 I predict there to be so much negativity towards Roc that Tubbs will have no choice but to get rid of him...........LU is losing fans each and every game!!!!!!  I personally have missed 5 of the last 6...........one or two because I could not go and the others because I chose not to go!!!!!  People were disappointed when Deane was in his last year or two and IMO this is worse...........the conference is tougher, the players are better and yet LU still can't find ways to win on the road!!!!!
The dissapointment with Deane was because they were boring to watch and didn't win! Roc's teams are winning more than Deanes did and are at least fast paced and fun to watch (most of the time).
 17.
Sure wish he would come back for next season!!!!!!  As long as he was 100% healthy!!!
Not in his best interest. He already graduated. Thus the decision now. He would have had to enroll in classes that he didn't really need to keep trying to play this year. Class started today!
 18.
Here's an example.  I saw on the Athletic web site a solicitation for a Scoreboard sponsor.  That is something we should be knocking on doors for with a slick powerpoint presentation with a mock up of the board with each perspective donors name and advertising that we make a presentation too  so they can feel and see what it would do for the university, the football program and for their company.  Maybe they are doing this, but we would never know based on everything else.
I am pretty sure that the scoreboard company actually does this. Atleast that is the case with the scoreboards (jumbotrons) at PNG and Nederland. The company sells the adds. The school just provides the spot for the board! This is why PNG has the nice new big board. It was not a part of the bond issue and the tax payers are not out anything. Should be the same with Lamar and the new BISD Board.
 19.
I think it's WAY too early for this kind of talk.  The Bears were much improved under Coach Crouch, but let's see how dedicated the kids are in the off season and that will tell us a lot about the future of the Bears.
BINGO!
You should be careful in heaping expectations on the Bears after a year of progress.  That was the beginning of the downfall of the last head coach at LC-M.
Double BINGO! They should compete for a spot with the returners they have, but truth be told they competed for a spot this year, but then again with half of the district making it last year and most likely 4 of 7 (reallignment) this year, who didn't compete for a spot.
 20.
I thought that Cards would be good this year.
Why would you think that? What did they return that made anyone think this team would bee good. Best returning player spent 08-09 season on the injured list! Next best returning player was injured in off season. Next two best returning players were Freshman last year. What about that says this team would be good? Young teams struggle on the road! This team needs a three point threat other than Miles.
 21.
Tre Lynch earned himself player of the week award in Dallas last week.
Lynch averaged 21.7 points in six games – all victories – last week. He recorded two 30-point games, one against Red Oak and another (32 points) in the tournament against Mesquite Horn.

Lynch has possesses incredible leaping ability, and he's built a reputation for dunking on taller defenders. ... Lynch, in addition to being a top scorer in basketball, is one of the area's best returning triple jumpers in track and field. ... Lynch, along with teammate Michale Kyser, signed with Lamar last month.
[Hidden Content]
Sounds like a Teddy Davis type Athlete.
 22.
I know Hamilton did it a few games back when he got pulled for bad shooting, but Hamilton still doesn't have the track record of JBROWN.  Hopefully he wakes up because Barnes will show him that he doesn't need him.  I hope it was more about him being down on himself and his performance instead of an attitude with the coach.  I am looking forward to Rick Barnes' training staff changing his body and adding some expolosiveness to his game.  If he keeps his head on, that staff will make him into a new player by season start of next year!
I agree...The sky is the llimit for JB if he wants it and doesn't rub the staff at UT the wrong way. He has one of the best natural court pressence on offense that I have ever seen outta HS.
 23. What makes you think he'll get over it? His track record says he won't. I saw Hamilton high fiving the guys on the court at the end of the game. We all poited a bit when we screwed up and got pulled, but he hung on to it and acted like a jerk 20 minutes later!
 24. Anyone else notice that J. Brown came in made a TO late in the second half, got pulled immediately and sat on the bench pouting the rest of the game. While his teammates were jumping up and down on the bench cheering on the late surge by UT, J'covin sat back in his chair and rolled his eyes. He was the only one not cheering. And after the game when they all went out to congratulate the teammates on the court, JB stayed on the bench sulking until someone told him to get up and shake Arkansas hands. Could this be the begining of the end for JB? I thought he may have out grown this, but??? Before anyone rips on me for being a JB hater, I want to make it clear I wish the kid would straighten up because he has NBA talent and I enjoy watching him on the court. I just hope he doesn't get into Rick Barnes' doghouse, because Texas has enough talent on the bench that he could get burried if he does and miss out on PT on a legitimate National Title team.
