Are any of them on Varsity now?

This is the same guy that picked PNG to finish 6th in this district. He would have to leave his North Texas bubble to actually find out about us. :

Ozen Panthers Overachievers or Real Deal?

They have always had great individual athletes, so it sounds like this staff is reigning in those athletes to play as a team. Could be scary down the road. -

Heres the difference in GT and Vidor. Georgia Tech has some of the best athletes in the nation. They can stick to what they do against the big time programs because they have identical talent. Vidor on the other hand does not have the talent to just run against 10 and 11 in the box against the likes of Angleton, Dayton, Friendswood, or even PNG fot that matter. and before you start screamin' about the talent comment, don't forget PNG tried to cram the ball down your throat for years and always found out how difficult it was against the more talented teams outside of 20 4A. The only year that we broke through was 1999 and we were a much more diverse offense that year. -

you know back during the pre-district season, I said several times that Vidor's schedule would hurt them because playing those cupcake Private schools and a middle of the pack 3A was not going to help them expose there weeknesses before district. Just as I said then you don't want to find out in district because it could be too late to adjust. I think this is what Vidor is finding out now. You have to throw a little to beat the big boys in the playoffs. Is it too late to adjust?? We will see, but I can't see Vidor going more than one round deep in the playoffs unless the do adjust a little. And that depends on who they get out of 19 4A. I know PNG learned alot about themselves and where they needed work after hard fought battles with BH and TC. Just one outsiders opinion. Maybe next year Mathews will step it up a bit pre-district. -
He is not a power guy in the mold of Hemmings or Cook (previous PNG backs), but he runs tuff. He also has good cut back ability and has alot more speed than I originally thought he did. He has run away from many a DB this year. He is a downhill runner, hits the hole quick and almost always falls forward. He is not a scatback. Goes about 5'9" 195 to 200. Runs low.

Hey no disrespect, but to go from winning 1 game to a possible undefeated season is remarkable! I'm just sayin! ;D We won 3 games last year, not 1. Normally you are correct, but 2 things most people forgot. 1. PNG in 2007 was 8-4 and lost to eventual state champs Lamar Consolidated and the great Quiz Rogers in a very good battle. Last year we lost, but were in every game. So the talent was there! 2. 1988 PNG 1-9 1989 new coach 12-2. We have seen it before. -
#11 PN-G At Lumberton Predictions?
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Thanks LR. We are very proud of the new digs. Best in the GT, at least until the BISD site is complete. That place will be beautiful. As for predictions...I predict both teams play 48 minutes! -
Rusted, I knew you were frustrated. I have been reading and responding to your posts for a while now and knew after sleeping on it you would realize that most of your comments were made in frustration. I have been there recently with our situation last year. I eventually just decided I would stick to a 12 hour rule, no posting within 12 hours after a game! ;D Mathews has his faults as a coach, but I think the good people of Vidor, yourself included Rusted, have to have the utmost respect for what he has done with the program over there. Vidor is no longer the laughing stock of the area. Won't be many more Homecoming games with Vidor as the opponnent! They play harder from start to finish than just about anyother team we face each year. That's a tone set by the coaching staff.

Rusted, is there any chance that you guys get the Utterback kid back this year? I tell you what, I think you guys should really throw the ball a little more early in games. You don't have to throw alot, but at least enough to keep the good defenses honest early. You will need it in the playoffs. -

I think you will be the first to agree this ain't last years NDN's. We were told by all of the Permian folks that Faircloth's team would be better prepaired than every opponent. Sometimes outmanned, but never outplanned! We see it now! Great win NDN's. Also, so if PNG kneels down and Vidor uses those two timeouts and we punt and Vidor scores (28-20) then gets the onside and scores (28-28)! It wasn't like we were throwing bombs with 20 seconds on the clock and zero timeouts from the opponent. Just as you state that we haven't seen all of the Vidor games, so we shouldn't pass judgment on your assessment of the playcalling, you shouldn't pass judgement on Faircloth in this case. He has run the clock out several times when we could have scored more. As someone who has never been on the wrong end of the 18 point differential for a playoff spot, I wouldn't expect you to understand over in Vidor!!! Good Luck the rest of the way Pirates. Hope you make the playoffs. -
Yes Nick Dozhier did cut his hand in the first quarter again ozen but i've had players tell me he is starting tonight with it bandaged up. And the cut is not on his throwing hand. They don't throw much, so that would not be my main concern. I would be more concerned with the snap. A bandaged hand could create exchange problems.

All i'm gonna say is idk if PNG was missing players or not but vidor was 3 offensive starters and 4 defensive starters. Plus i agree there were some questionable calls there but i'm not making any excuses for either team. it was a great game. both teams played hard and it brought together two of the lets say "football crazy" towns and the best two JV footballs teams in 20-4A. Its not always the best team that wins but the team that plays the best. GO PIRATES!!!!! : Usually the best team plays the best!
-
I tell you guys what is really great this year and hopefully for many to come is the fact that each week there are games like this in the district. Not a lot of ho hum football games in 20 4A anymore! Makes for a fun 7 weeks. Good Luck to both teams and can't wait to meet some of you Vidor fans.

If the local businesses are paying for it, like here in PN, then they would be crazy to turn it down! But how will this effect Lamars chances at a similar board? Will the Exxon Mobils of the world foot the bill for both? You know Walter will be on board (no pun intended) at Lamar. I would think that the board at the BISD complex would be an easy sell for advertisements if they put ads on both sides and face it in the right direction because of it's I-10 location!

Jeez. Falling like flies over there latley. Have any of them missed games yet?
-
im sure whatever the player did he had it planned out so it would happen the week of the hf game. : all the while knowing he wouldnt be missed against hf. i guess for some there always has to be an underlying motive for every action. paranoid much? Where is it that I implied he "PLANNED" it for the HF game? I simply implied that the one game that WOS could miss a key player is this one!

Is the Vidor QB (Dozier I believe) going to be able to go?
-
Yes. That's what I was trying to show. It is relative. especially at the larger classifications. And then when you factor in districts like Katy with open enrollment! I was watching Southlake and Miami Northwestern last year and they were talking about the fact that the district that Nothwestern was in had over 100,000 students and it was open enrollment, essentially making Northwestern a football school. I think you see that in some of the districts in texas as well. Odessa is a prime example.
-
Not by the UIL numbers. Vidor 1430 Which is larger than PNG at 1413.
-
PNG - Nederland Ozen - Central Really the only two rivalries in the 20-4A district. LCM's rival is WOS (though WOS may tell you otherwise) Vidor and LCM may become a rivalry?? Lumberton and Silsbee are rivals. And I don't know if Livingston has a rival. But playing Nederland week 10 was always great. Especially when both were vying for the DC like 1999.

The gap at the 3A and lower schools is much smaller than the gap at 4A and especially 5A schools. Large 3A is 800+ and small 3A is 400 range Large 4A is 1900+ and small 4A is 900+ Big gap Large 5A is 3500+ (some as high as 5000) and small 2000+ Huge gap Some of the powers in 5A Allen 4800 North Shore 4200 FB Hightower 3000 Odessa Permian 3300 Converse Judson before the split with the new school (Wagner) 4000+ Notice they are not as strong since. Plano 5000+ Plano East 4500 Pearland 3800 Euless Trinity 3000 Cy Falls 3500 Houston Lamar 3300 The Woodlands 3700 Dallas Skyline 5100 Spring Westfield 4000 Alief Elsik 4500 Katy 3000 Not to say the smaller 5A can't compete, but only a few really standout, Lufkin 2300, Southlake Carroll 2500 and growing, Cedar Hill 2500

That's funny, cause just the other day I was asking someone why every team PNG plays just gives up in the fourth quarter? : You really think that Vidor is the only team that plays a full 4Q's? One thing that PNG does that should bode well against Vidor's big road graders who try and wear you down, is that the NDNs have zero two way players and rotate alot especially on defense. Should make for a good test of wills on both sides.

As a PNG Fan I have to agree : Do we really need another one of these threads? Threads like this is one reason folks hate PNG!
