  1. PNG JV is 3-0 outscoring opponents 97-14 so far. Same Freshman group that went undefeated last year.
  2. You keep telling yourselves that! Good Luck
  3. Again Marshall and Willowridge probably elected to stay in 5A.
  4. And why again does the trash talking have to stop? It will be a very interesting seven weeks indeed. ;D
  5. You have the option to play up. It might be a money thing. All the 3A schools are way outside of town, thus the travel costs would be significant. HISD don't spend any money!
  6. Yes #12 also blocked the 4th quarter FG attempt. He was lined up offsides on each attempt. One of the kicks was right down the line from where we sit and we were screaming "he's off sides" before the snap. I just wonder what the official on the line (who has one job pre-snap) was looking at? #12 also played WR and on several plays in that last drive (where PNG was flagged several times) he was turned pointing to the PNG sidelines taunting them. But that was not flagged. As far us getting the ball to Deron, he was double covered most of the night. Even the pass he dropped he had double coverage but that ball was thrown beautifully. Our downfall was not being able to get ourselves out of our endzone to begin the second half. It's hard to throw the ball from back there at the HS level. Good win though. I love the fire from the Indians and the coaching staff. And it is obvious that this team will be well prepaired for each opponent. Can't wait for two weeks!
  7. The Alamodome didn't give up 69 points! ;D
  8. So why the suit?
  9. Noticed Roc and Tidwell on front row behind home plate (in seats normally occupied by the Bushes) tonight. Just wondering why Roc was in a suit? PR?
  10. I have noticed the same at PNG, but one thing Kroeker and company does like crazy is substitute. Unreal how many subs they run in and out on defense, especially on the line.
  11. Heard that Nederland was scrapping the spread. Going back to a power running attack. They used the extra week to make the adjustments.
  12. TenaciousK do you really think Vidor will gain 500 yards against anyone in 20-4A? Vidor has a good team that's not being challanged. As I have said before Vidor has weaknesses (every team does), but they won't find them out unitl District play because none of their pre-district opponents are strong enough to expose them and it may be too late to fix them by then.
  13. PNG Grads? Offense - B Getting more physical and deeper into the playbook each week. As the season goes on and Doty progresses (still throws a few up he shouldn't) this number will get much better. Defense - A Creating turnovers. Lots of them. Gave up 7 points to Crosby after a muffed punt return giving them a short field (20 yards) and even then Crosby had to go down to the wire to get it in. Gave up 20 second half points to BH and looked a bit sluggish, but to their credit they where on the field most of the first half due to an inneffective offense and a pretty good BH defense. Special Teams - B+ The kicker can boom it. Several kickoffs into the end zone (not sure why we kick it to the up man on purpose sometimes?). He has kicked FG's well also. Heard he had range out to 45 yards. Punt and punt coverage have been pretty good so far. Only negative has been a couple of muffed punts (one we lost and one we didn't). The kick returns have been solid. Overall - B+ so far.
  14. Funny you say that because the JUCO approach hasn't worked in the SLC in quite a while. Look at the teams that have represented this conference in the NCAA or been the tops in the conference the last several years. NWS had a good run with a group of HS kids they matured with. SHSU has done the same. SFA last few years...How many impact JUCO guys? A&M CC won with HS kids. I think you got this one all wrong. One of the reasons more Mids and Lows are knocking off the big dogs each year is because they are developing continuity through HS recruits. the majors are losing the top talent after one and two years and look like they are starting over each year albeit with great talent, but very little continuity and alot of me first attitude. Just one mans opinion!
  15. Last year means very little. Seams to be a lot of respect aroound the state for Faircloth.??? Just becoming less predictable on offense is a huge plus. Not a lot of move ins, but some good move ups! Fair number of starters returning on defense. Some on offense at spots like WR were they will now be utilized like Deron and Segura who were wasting away in the old offfense. Yes. Freshman and JV were very good last year. Also this was THSF's response to your question in another thread: OK 7. You asked. How's that?
  16. Early season OOC play does count tremendously in the FBS. OU beat a BCS team in Cincinatti and top 25 team in TCU OOC last year. That played a major part in them getting the BCS title game over UT. Sure winning down the stretch helps, but both things factor in heavily. It is however different at the HS level. Winning those hard pre-district battles is not totaly necessary come district time. If you play a top 10 team and hang with them and learn where your weaknesses are, but loose you are still better for it come district time as long as you know how to correct the weaknesses. Good teams expose your problem areas and that's best figured out before it really matters.
  17. It certainly hurt UT last year didn't it! If Texas had played anyone of substance out of conference then they would have been ahead of OU in the BCS standings and played for a National Title! Seems as though the last National Title for UT came in a season where they beat a good Ohio State team out of conference early in the year. So yes it does appear that it hurst UT to play a weak OOC schedule just like it hurts Vidor.
  18. Home side seats 8000 and all but about 200 seats (where the MS kids run around) were full meaning we had 7800 fans at the game Friday night and no one at the concessions and some yeahoo wants to call us out on it. Go figure. Funny how a so called Vidor Pirate fan was at the PNG game on Firday instead of the Vidor game???
  19. I am not sure PNG is the best, but the PNG defense has 10 turnovers in 2 games and pretty much won the BH game in week 0 because the offense was innaffective. Hard to argue with those numbers this early in the season. And many of those turnovers were forced. Time will tell!
  20. No brainer for the Pac 10 to add Colorado and Utah. Colorado is nice market in Denver and geographically a match as is Utah. They will not be adding schools based on how well they are doing in their football programs right now, but more based on numbers. TCU has the facilities for the Big 12 in Amon Carter Stadium, UH doesn't in Robertson, but you could also see Arkansas in jump from the SEC to the Big 12. If so the SEC would go hard after Florida State IMO. ONe move could set off several!
  21. Funny thing is Crosby went two rounds deep in the playoffs last year knocking off co-district champs Lumberton in the process. Before the season many people had Crosby possibly winning that district and thought this would be the toughest of our pre-district battles, so having them on the schedule was not a bad thing. Not like we scheduled St. Thomas or anyhting! ;D
  22. Not hard to be most improved for LCM! 1 win would do it. ;D
  23. PNG - Brennan Doty - Jr.
  24. Let them stay together? How would they not stay together? They planning on failing a bunch of them or transfering them outta town? It appears that the PNG Freshman from last year have picken' up were they left off as Sophomores on JV. Great start. 62-0 in two games.
  25. Mahoney would have been a RS Junior not a 5th year Senior. He played his Freshman year (Lamar Sanders Junior year and 1st with LU) primarily as James Davis' baby sitter, RS the next year, then played sparingly last year.
