  1. Hunter is not a "New" QB. :
  2. You might want to check the history books. Hebert was a powerhouse! And French tied Permian for the state title in 84 before they merged?
  3. Randy Allen has won alot of games with Highland Park. It is hard to argue with the success of Dan Ray given the fact that he has won from 5A-3A with the same program.
  4. Because of the change in the offense at PNG I will say that Doty will have the most impact on any team with a new QB. But Reggie Garrett at WOS could be the determining factor in a State Tilte run for the ponies.
  5. He is a big kid and does have some speed for his size, but not 4.5. Maybe 4.7. Thats fast for a kid 6'4" and over 200 bills.
  6. "Does playing Kelly, St. Thomas, and Hardin Jefferson get you ready for the big dogs in the district?" History says...NO! I would expect if Vidor was going to step down to play a 3A it would at least be WOS or Silsbee. And playing Kelly which amounts to a 2A enrollment is weeeeek. St. Thomas is not much better. Who are the top four teams each year in local 4A? Ned Central Lum PNG Now go look at who they play or have played pre-district. WB, Friendswood, Lamarque, Brehnam, Tx City, Crosby, PAM, Ball, Waller, BHill, all quality 4A or even 5A playoff programs and when they have dropped down and played 3A schools they played the top 3A's in the area in WOS and Silsbee. By contrast go look at who Vidor and LCM play each year!
  7. District Rules. Each district does it differently.
  8. The "No Team Left Behind" Rule. Tired of darn near everyone making the playoffs!
  9. He had one, but the kid appearantly transfered to Dayton this year (hence the shot about Merka transfering from above post).
  10. You know in past years we have always had some big scoring threat returning that we expected to lead the team to a championship, but each year we struggled if he (whoever he was) struggled because there was not alot of other guys to step up. This season may be just the opposite. >Coy can score. I expect him to be a 10+ guy each night if he stays healthy. >Nabors can score around the basket. Another 10+ guy. >Hall came on big at the end of the year and proved he could shoot from outside. Another 10+ guy with an occasional outburst to 20. >Harper should be improved over what was a promissing freshman year. I see him as a guy that will get you 8-10. >Miles was an impressive freshman last year especially with his ability to get to the basket and score. Another 10+ guy. >Harris lit it up in soCal JUCO. Another 10+ guy. >Moton should provide us with another taller outside threat unlike the shorter (less than 6') guys we have had lately that strougled to get their shots off against taller opponents. Could be a 8-10 guy. That's 65+ points a game right there from a host of players. The key is that anyone of these guys could score 20 on any night. This may be the most balanced attack we have had in years. Defensively we should improve as well because we will be longer. Just not sure how tough we will be around the basket without Worrell and Brown, but hopefully Nwevo will use his strength to his advantage.
  11. Not seing it. I know Hughes was a Soph. last year, but I just didn't see anything that impressed me to build on. DeJohn on the other hand had skills. I thought he was sorely under rated.
  12. Paking this year will be twice as bad as in past years since they are constructing the new wings and have taken away the parking lot behind the old gym! Shure would be nice if they could come to an agreement with the guy across the street from the Fire Station and pave that for parking.
  13. A good DB also watches the hips to see where the WR is going. The eyes can decieve, but the hips don't lie!
  14. This has to be the biggest line we have had in years, maybe ever. We will see how it translates on to the field.
  15. That's good stuff right there! ;D I don't think the masses at PNG are expecting too much from this squad. I think most of the heavy players that would scream and shout are very excited about the future and realize this season does not a career make. Ground Work Baby!
  16. Nederland has had some good WR in the past that didn't have blinding speed. What made them so good was that they ran good routes, got physical and caught the ball. Deron this year at PNG is not fast, but big (6'2"), very physical and has great hands. So I say, 1.) Physical 2.) Routes 3.) Hands 4.) Speed In that order.
  17. UTSA gets more students from Houston than San Antonio for quite some time Not just that, but NCAA football in SA has no competion unlike basketball. I would love to go to a game in the afternoon then walk across the street to the riverwalk and kickback with a cervaza and some enchilladas!
  18. Not a bad plan. Lots of talent in the SA/Centex region. Probably one of the more attractive things about that job is the local recruiting base being so large and good (similiar to Miami ).
  19. Hard to believe that four of our verballs backed out and signed with the same team. I supect this was a mistake. I thought I did read that Brown was still on the market.
  20. 20 4A Offense-Bellow Ned Defense-Beard Lum (If fully recovered)
  21. Should've been Harris from Liv. Not sure though. May have been the LB from Central.
  22. Just left the Reservation and a big group of PNG football players (as they do daily) were running and working on strength and conditioning. They should all run 4.4's next year! : And yes 4.4 is amazingly fast. Think about this: Of the 120 speed position (WR, RB, CB and Safety) participants at the 2009 combine, only 5 ran a 4.4 or better. And most combine participants are world class athletes with a personal trainer that helped them get ready for the combine. And your trying to sell us on the notion that there are 4 or 5 of those guys at LCM?? If so they would have won at least one game last year on athleticism alone! Give it a rest.
  23. Everyone is "looking to get a playoff spot" before the season starts! : What are they "On their way to Houston" for?
  24. District titles mean nothing. State Title QB's on the other hand prove that a QB had the leadership skills to get it done against the competition comperable to what he will see at the college level (at least at the 3A thru 5A levels).
  25. Actually one of the issues for PNG last year at BH was that Hurricane Gustav was heading in and they were discussing mandatory evac's for our area. Many people I spoke with said they decided not to go to BH because they were getting ready to evac. And sure enough Saturday they called for the Mandatory Evac.
