1. wasn't at game heard there was a lot of dunks HJ should ve made them pay after several dunks.  Foul hard....really hard to send a message....to the point of knocking them to the floor......  Basketball is a contact sport as well.  Im not saying hurt intentionally, but if you ve played at a high level you know what im talking about. If they hit they re free throws so be it.  Which is a lower percentage than a dunk of those 2nd half field goal percentages how many were actually 10 ft and beyond jump shots?

 3.
This is probably the best statement of this entire thread, and I am mad that I didn't post it first! >:( ;D
;)
 4.
So a winning tradition generates attention all the way over in Africa?
wouldn't take it that far.....  whether yates is breaking the rules are not....the game is still going to be played so play your hardest and have confidence in your team and coach.
 5. was it 98 that silsbee lost in the first round when they were ranked very high they had chris miller, thadeus holden, lewis arline

 7.
This is suspicious to me that Nelson being let go comes the same time they are interviewing coaches for the Central job. It is like they decided we like this guy and we like this guy so let's hire them both- one for Central and one for Ozen. Also this does not seem like a Saveat move. I would be shocked if Pat Lambert was not the one behind this. She is supt of secondary schools now and has been known to clash with football coaches.
BINGO also this comes after a meeting that all bisd coaches went to this past monday.....UIL reps were there discussing the rules/guidelines
 8. ned needs to play the game INSIDE OUT and hit freethrows while also hitting the jumpers don't come out trigger happy...establish the inside, get in the bonus
 9. thanks CAT22 for the info. no big deal SOLO. im pulling for whoever represents 21-3a

They controlled their "OWN" destiny and fell short. Let me ask you this, what is HF record against BC the last ten years, 19-1 or maybe 20-0?  So one girl made a difference really? Lets see she tranfered from LCM, The last time LCM and BC was a power in basketball well I can't remember that far back. All I hear is excuses and that is what is wrong with this country. The "RIGHT" thing is to earn it not be given something because business on the court was not taken care of. Some of you posters is what is really sad.
First of all .....that girl your talking about scored a significant amount of points in that game against HF.  Now if she was ineligible then that is against UIL rules....whats the point in having rules if where not going to follow them.  Yes HF should ve taken care of business i agree. From what i gather from your post is players can transfer from schools to another school without following the uil guidelines and your ok with that....your ok with rules being broken apparently in this case no rules were broken, it was just a clerical error. but if the rules were broken and nothing is done about it what are you teaching our kids. hypothetical im gonna go recruit a 5 star athlete to come to school "A" and school "A" will beat all other schools with this ineligible player.  Sorry riding solo your school/child doesn't make the playoffs cause my ineligible player beat the tar out of yours. this is a forum where people talk i mention loop hole cause that is what i heard and also said i don't know the accuracy of it....so i mention it on here to see if anyone can shed light on it.

 12. Collazo who was an excellent coach 2 years ago...couldn't coach again because he was retired and could only coach that one year due to rules/policies get your facts straight
 13. Bridge city played an ineligible girl against HF...so now HF gets that win by default ... now gonna play Orangefield this Friday with only today to practice. make the most of it HF....beggars can't be choosers
I agree 100%...Nederland is not the same either, thanks to the leader of that program, BUT...The fact that Ozen no longer has the same championship swagger is more apparent...it's not an EMBARRASSING loss, but it's just not the same. You think PA Lincoln would EVER lose to Nederland? It just was not happening. That's how that program was built, and although it was not the same in the end, they still beat who they were EXPECTED to beat. I mean close games with PNG?? That's not suppose to happen at Ozen, but it's just not the same Ozen.
You are right- its not the same Ozen.  The talent is spread across Beaumont now instead of the majority of basketball players going to Ozen as they once did.  You keep mentioning things such as "do you think PA Lincoln would EVER lose to Nederland?  A few years ago, you could have also asked "do you think Ozen would EVER lose to Vidor" and we now know the answer.
Dickie V just likes to live in the past. Reality is just too hard to accept sometimes.
Why isn't memorial better than what it is.....  instead of just lincoln area players you have the whole port arthur area now including SFA area and TJ area..... Ozen....i believe his name is Kendrick Perkins.....so i wonder why they dominated so many years.......yes they had other Div 1 talent on Ozen teams, but lets not get confused....its hard to Guard a 6'10' nba big man with a guy that is 6'5"

 17. look at the body of work Sutherland Joubert English williams sigler in no order LEE  based on what....
 18. never said HJ did recruit... i said open enrollment
 19. i don't know if they actually go out a recruit or not. But i will tell you this....if a coach or a representive(parent) of hj just happens to be in a gym where basketball is being played and mentions in passing whether jokingly or not to a player "we could use you".  thats recruiting informally. Also,  they get players by a winning tradition....and there is nothing wrong with that. I know basketball is #1 there and they have a good lil dribblers program....which pays dividends in winning. not trying to take away from their winning ways with this post...they play and they win.
 20.
Now time for 5 on 5 response.Tell me how my son was suppose to get better by playing in the summer when he was not invited by them to do so.Lets say he plays the same position that the person that funds the summer tournaments son does. How often you you think he will get called to play to take some of money parents kids playing time.We will never know how it would have turned out but you can bet my son has zero respect for the basketball coach
I played every summer at my house, at the park, and at the gym.  My highshool didn't have anyone funding a summer basketball team.  We didn't have one.  My parents didn't have the money to put me on an AAU team.  But i found ways to get better.  i played everyday whether it was by myself or with other individuals.  I took it upon myself to get better because it was up to me, not anyone else.....and i was rewarded by playing college ball. the whole money ball thing is a sad issue in today's world....i seee it in highschool and saw it in college so i understand how that can play a factor and it shouldn't.
 21. if you refer to my post I started off with "sounds like"  i never said i knew.  so how is that an insult to you.
Well bucket since you doubt what I say is true and insult me,here is some information that may shed some light.I know you do not know the kids we are talking about or you would not make the comments you have. After the fourth game with Ozen that year the coach from Ozen told me that my son made the best decisions with the ball and could not understand why he did not get more playing time. Now tell me how I am suppose to handle this?I was recently informed by the best player on the team this years parent that he had a conversation with the freshman coach from that season. He told him that the only thing he regreted about his time in Nederland is that when he looked at the end of his bench at the start of the game three of his best players were down there because the head coach told him to put them there. And by the way the reason Vidors soccer team became so good during his era is the kids that used to go from football to basketball started going to soccer instead of basketball after the way they were treated by basketball.
i gather from the bold text that information went from one person to another person to you.  gotta be careful with creditability of info that goes through several people.  im not saying your wrong scapegoat. im saying i know coach english alot better than most of you.  He's gonna play who he thinks is gonna produce wins.... If you know the plays, you know the defenses, you produce, and have a great attitude and work ethic coach E is gonna play you. he's not perfect he may make some bad decisions everybody does...and just because one coach said this and another said that....every coach has their own philosphy and ways of coaching.  There is struggle between football and basketball at Nederland.  Football coaches want their players in offseason lifting weights/agility drills.  Basketball coaches want their players in the gym working on skills and knowledge of the system in place. why cant football players go from football to basketball?  why is that so difficult at Nederland?
 22.
Same principals should apply in all circumstances
some people don't get it and of those people most will never get it.
 23. was he discouraged from playing or did he just not make the cut..... if he didn't make the cut due to other players being better than he was did he:     a. give up on basketball     b. put more work in on his basketball skills during his personal time, so he         could come back his soph year and try to make the team. just because someone doesn't make the team doesn't mean he's being discouraged from playing the sport....it means he needs to work harder and improve his game. if someone doesn't get a job is that employer discouraging him from getting a job. so now he just gives up on working. too many kids now go to their parents to save them when they don't get what they wanted or don't make the team or don't get enough playing time......and there parents go right along with it.....its never the kids fault, its never that the kid is not good enough.... come on people....
