oh i agree for the most part. for one parents have an emotional attachment to the game due to having children playing. So when they say anything that has alot of adjectives or adverbs in it....emotions talking.... These parents are the ones that think lil johnny or lil suzie is the best player even though their kid rides the pine and can't figure out why....uhhhhh....they re not very good mom and pops. REALITY. I played in a district when barbers hill and HJ were in it.... if you played at barbers hill in the 90s you knew how the refs were going to be same for HJ and i will admit the same for HF....cause i played there.
All that is left to do is hook, when the defense is allowed to put a forearm and a hand on you on a drive to the basket.... ;).... btw, The foul count doesn't have to ever be even. Any ref that bases calls on the foul count is a horrible ref! A foul is a foul.
i know it doesn't have to be even, but there's obvious no calls and ridiculous calls.... thats whats sad is when a ref favors another team.... it happens...so don't say it doesn't i see you didn't respond to the one sided comments.. hey if she can get away with it more power to her.... she dribble drives right every time you think defenders would catch on to that.

im pullin for hf in the next game vs HJ, but i already know how the refs are gonna be when HF plays at HJ. its always the same...one sided. So im predicting HJ will win by 15 or more. IF you disagree check the books for the foul count in last years game. All the offensive hooking that #5 does to get around players will not be called. I believe HJ will win the game no matter how the refs call...but its obvious the refs are one sided there. I ll already have an idea who the refs are going to be for that game.

i never said central didn't have good players..... central is always athletic, but you can't win with Athleticism alone. Athleticism can hide poor coaching just like good players can. When Green was at central there was good coaching and good teams. And just because a school makes playoffs and gets a playoff win here and there doesn't mean their TEAM is good as a group cause some teams have some individual players who happen to win games for them. GOOD TEAMS go several rounds deep at least. Good players don't always equal good teams Good players can sometimes equal selfishness

i know im going to here it on this, but its the truth Most kids that go to central are uncoachable....let me say again..MOST not all. I deal with this at the junior high level. They would rather scrimmage, try to cross some one up, or jack up a three that they have no business shooting than work on fundamentals....like form shooting, passing the ball, ball movement, free throws, dribbling drills, etc Most of them think they know more and whats best. To many individuals and not enough team. Watching the NBA is the worst thing for these young players. Trying watching Princeton or Duke instead.

HJ vs Silsbee who wins

HJ in a close one...........comes down to freethrows -
Riding Solo.... you know there is more to a game than the scorebox.... ;) Starting pt. guard missed almost half of the game due to foul trouble... Missed 12 layups and at least 8 or 9 point blank shots.... and still won...
HF also missed alot of freethrows and several point blank shots and our only legit post was in foul trouble so i guess hf should ve won...... no hf lost because of those things

Yeah......definitely....i ve been saying it all year that if the coach would change her line up and play man to man defense that HF could challenge HJ for first.. I believe if HF plays this way against Orangefield...then we can beat them. HF guards didn't shoot the ball as well as they usually do.......probably due to the competition and big game magnitude.
I agree bucket, HF has not beat Orangefield in a long time. This will be a interesting year no doubt. If the Parents would leave the girls alone at Orangefield they could do well. I think they are adapting to that concept. Time will tell.
agree with you solo
Hey 5gallonbucket impressive resume but I've got to admit i have a few years on you. FYI i have watched them play and have been impressed with what i saw. It is just sad that a caring coach with a great group of kids has to deal with sideline critics as harsh as you. One would think you would be more professional as a coach and not bash another coach on a public forum ... but I guess not. WOW
Your right i shouldn't bash her....i apologize for that, but if you really look at the make up of the team you can't tell me she's playing the best players....maybe it due to injury. And please watch that "whatever defense" they run.... if they run that against HJ or Orangefield its gonna get ugly fast. And these girls have the talent to compete with HJ and beat out Orangefield for 2nd place.
I have watched most of these girls play since 1st or 2nd grade, and I can honestly say you have no idea what you are talking about. There is no former "manager" playing for HF, and I can attest that at least all of the parents and players I have talked with think highly of the new coach - she's the first coach in years that truly seems to care. Unfortunately, it sounds like sour grapes from someone who's daugher is not getting the PT they think she deserves........
i have no sour grapes....for one i don't have a daughter on the team...my oldest child is not even in high school. and if you think all parents think highly of the coach think again. i have no sour grapes....and there are some talented girls on the team. and they will make the playoffs. they re winning most of their games with that crap match up zone defense....i don't even know what it is. they do better in man defense. I don't wanna name names, but if you honestly wanna tell me the one that was a manager/injured last year is a starter...then take off your glasses off or put some on...what ever the case may be. i believe the coach pushes the girls and thats good. but you have to base your defense on what personnel your dealt... and you have to play the best players....and not because of fear of parents
"from manager to starter" ...boloney!!! Any girls on the bench last year not suited up were injured players. Get facts straight. This ladyhorn team has lots of talented girls. Hard to say which are the best five because they all have something great that they bring to the floor . They cant all play the whole game. HF is fortunate to have such an awesome group of girls to represent their community.
are you joking.... you must have a daughter on the team.... cut your emotional ties away and look at it for what it is.
Dang 5gallonbucket you sound like you are ONE HECK of a SIDELINE coach.
well i ve been watching this team for 2 years now.. i know my basketball my resume: allstate highschool, college basketball, and have coached for 7 years. I m not the perfect coach but when a student goes from manager to a starter and didn't even tryout for basketball....something's lil fishy. I feel for the girls on the team. Go and watch them play then get back to me
-
oh my oh my..... do yall go to the games? do yall know basketball? not trying to take anything away from evadale, but HF should ve won by 20, but its hard to do that when a certain parent has connections to adminstration and complains about her daughter not playing and therefore the coach plays her fearful of her job or to keep parents off her back.and therefore their daughter starts/plays most of the game when the player was a manager last year because sorry but lets be realistic she's not good. if the coach doesn't play the best players and don't change her "made up" defense that is a joke.... then they'll end up in the 3rd or 4th place position and still make playoffs but has a team that could be 2nd and fight HJ for first. Orangefield and HJ will expose her crap defense and her personnel "playing time" decisions
