*DAYTON vs. LIVINGSTON Broadcast/ DAYTON WINS 28-24!!!!!
cooligan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wow! What a game. Dayton showed championship ball on the last do or die drive. Great game Lions. It's tough to play so well only to see your hopes taken away at the last second. The same happened to us this yr against Central. Good luck to Dayton the rest of the way. It is the playoff's folks. Don't take any team too lightly. Just ask BrenhamFan. -
Were you admiring the purse or the thing next to it. ;D

Dayton vs. Livingston predictions
cooligan replied to knightrider's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't see Livingston winning this one. Tooooo much D from Dayton. However, The QB is a superb athlete and if he drops back moves around and takes off running it will be trouble. He can throw deep, but it's more of a throw it up there and see if someone can run under it. I hope your dbs don't let the receivers get behind them as I have seen this year. I believe the QB will be overwhelmed by your front seven though. Put a spy on him and don't let him get loose. -

Yea the PNG fans can be a little cocky after their win tonight, and chuckle about Ned's loss, but make no mistake Ned is going to own the reservation the next 3 - 5 years. Our talent level is too good coming up the pipe. yours on the other hand pretty much sucks. We're all going to see how good Faircloth is with the lack of talent he's getting the next few years. I tend to think y'all will have his head on a chopping block about this time next year or the year after. We all felt you were the better team this year and so sad to say it just didn't work out for your fans. I for one would have been satisfied with only our big win over your team, but instead we went on to win enough thrillers to at least make it to the playoffs. It's been a great year for my soph starter. So sorry for our Srs tonight. I wish we could have enjoyed their leadership just a little longer, but it just wasn't meant to be. It was a thrilling year. Good luck to the remaining teams the rest of the way. Most importantly, thank you to our Sr leaders this year. -

Look who's talkin. You might want to get your own team ready for the tribe. If they can put up 49 against Central they just might put up 89 against your bump. ;) -
Great article, Great Kid. It's good to see his hard work is paying off. Brock did play for our team in STJFL. He is a lot more aggressive now. Just took him a little time to figure it out. On the other hand, maybe Coach Spell and his staff has taught this young man how to play defense. Great job this year Brock. Where is Smitty? Here Smitty, Smitty, Smitty. Did you notice the sports writer referred to Coach Spell as " The Wizard ". I would say a much different opinion than yours don't you think?

I thought the head up is only for two teams. When there are 3 or more it goes to the point system I thought. I do not know for sure though.

PNG is not already in. Englebert's scenarios are correct. If PNG loses to Central they could easily miss out on points if Livingston, Nederland and LCM are in the tie breaker.

central vs lumberton predictions?

Easiest game all year for the Jags. Jags 38 - Raiders 14 -
Way too much offense from PNG. NDNS 31 - vidor 17

No need to apologize NDN fans. I know where you're coming from. Come Friday, it's going to be GO Bears, Jags and Panthers from this Dog. ;D

I personally don't see the loser being out of the hunt. I can see 2 or more teams with 3-4 records bucking for the last playoff spot in this district. With that being said, the loser better win out or their staying home.

PN-G vs. Lumberton Predictions?
cooligan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to PNG. It feels good to get that 1st big district win. I won't be surprised to see you get a playoff spot in the end. As I said, your O is too good and the D will get going. As far as Lumberton. It appears Lumpy and the boy's were thumpin on your team head's as I predicted. Or should I refer to your team as midgets as your coach did? You are fortunate the game was never close. Lumpy and the Boy's really get nasty when things aren't going their way. Like I said, PNG has the best balanced O in the district. Perhaps now you are believers. Apparently, the PNG and NED fans knew a little more about your midget's than you all did. Tread, keep flying that snake flag you believe in. footballfan34, I guess we know who the real joke is don't we. To my buddy Roughrider, great prediction of 42 -17 you were closer than my 35 -21. I just had 1 touchdown on the wrong team. :-* -

Oh, I think I get it now Tread. You're a snake. I guess that makes more sense based on your location. My bad. I assumed maybe Lumpy left his tread marks on your chest last year when you played. -

First off, I'm not a PNG fan. I'm just forewarning you what your boy's will be facing. With a handle like Don't tread on me it makes we wonder if Lumpy hasn't already visited you. It's football Cream Puff. Just get ready, Lumpy and the boy's are comin and they're nasty! -

I'm simply saying I don't think Lum will keep up with PNG's O. You're about to face the best balanced O you may have ever seen. If LCM put up 45 against your D there's no telling how many times you will be hearing Cherokee amongst all that purple. By the way, I would forewarn your D, cause Big Ole Lumpy and the boy's will put a beating on your team and than he'll spit on you after he leaves his tire marks on your chest. :o :'( -

PNG you are being way to hard on yourselves. NED played a near flawless game last friday. The truth is, words were spoken by some PNG players and NED was fired up big time. That's football. Although your D is like ours and needs work, your O is probably the best balanced machine in 20-4a. You will score 30 plus points everynight. I can't say the same for most in our district. You will win this game and still be in the hunt. PNG 35 - Lumberton 21. Keep the faith and get back in the game! -
I don't know how strong 20-4a is this year, but it must be the most balanced district in the state and that makes for an exciting year! :o

PN-G at Nederland Game Thread/Ned Wins/Comments!!!!!!!!
cooligan replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There is no way Bertrand had 200 yds rushing. The D did exceptionally well containing him to short runs. The problem with most of these writers, they want to be the 1st to report and their reliability can be off even on something so specific as stats. I will view the film and post later. -
Yea, looks like we will be playing for the toilet bowl next week. Anything can happen in a rivalry. A win against PNG will make Nederland's season. Playoffs or not. Good luck to both teams.

Bulldogs add QB, lose star tackle
cooligan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
OMG. Somebody needs to notify the PA News immediately. I just got home from watching Nederland's practice. The team is totally divided now. Approximately half the team was wearing black jersey's and the other half was wearing white. Worse yet. the two were really knocking the crap out of each other on the field. I was sooooooo worried about Friday against Vidor, than I realized the numbers were close to the same on either team. So don't worry Nederland fans we will still have a game no matter which team they decide to take over to Vidor. Thank God :D :D :D -

Boy the media writes an article and they have us believing the world is coming to an end. This is nothing more than a couple of young men that made some mistakes. Forney simple wasn't displaying good leadership through his actions and work ethic. A few on the team called him out and Neumann brought it to a head the proper way. The good news is Forney admitted his mistakes, apologized for same and is moving on. I for one am proud of Forney. This incident, along with the Raines competition, and his injuries seem to have renewed Dionte's focus. For the first time this year, he is working hard and is looking good in practice. I expect good things from the team against Vidor. Young Lack, on the other hand, elected to leave the team without compromise. Bad decision. I believe this will haunt him for the rest of his life if the UIL doesn't allow him to play football at PNG. I must say shame on you dad for not helping your son understand and work with him to settle the conflict in a more amenable result. I can't imagine not watching my son participate in the sport he loves during his senior year. I for one, am glad this came to a head now. Trust me, the team has already moved on and they are closer now than they have been all year. GO DOGS -
Thanks Grad. I am kind of a stat nut myself. I can't express my appreciation enough for all of your time consuming hard work. I thoroughly enjoy all of the info you feed us on a weekly basis.

WO-S at Nederland/WOS WINS 40-19!!!!!
cooligan replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Cograts to WOS. Your team looked very good Friday night. No real surprises from Garrett, Roberts Lindsey and Thomas. Quite the foursome. I was, however, impressed with your OL. They have made great improvement from the team I saw play Vidor a week ago. I'm sure your staff will round up a kicker. You will need one in close games down the road. As for the dogs: I wouldn't abandon ship just yet. As many have indicated this is a young team. I was surprised our defense performed as they did. However, we were without 2 starters and a 3rd was sick all week but did play. The D's strength will be on the DL. Without the X man at DT, and Stampley at LB we were surely compromised. I watched the D game film over and over last night. We have a lot of work to do with the LB's. Too many bad angles, missed tackles, can't get off a block etc. Personally, I would have brought a LB, DB or S across the line outside the tackles all night long. You know you are in trouble when the DL is making most of the tackles 5 - 10 yds down field. They will all get a lot better when they gel and start working as a unit. The O was about what I expected. Raines is going to be a good one. I would like to see Raines roll out of the pocket some. He is dangerous on the move with his options. The Dogs will be fine.
