Favorite Nederland Player this year
cooligan replied to James Mosley's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Latiolas has been cleared, but he won't play until next week. I believe the coaches want to rest him another week. -
Heck I'm hoping we can shut down the first play first this year. Livingston has broke the first play for a TD the last two years against us. Of course, last year that is all they really had to smile about. I say another year same story. Dogs 31 - 14

QB Raines is a senior this year. He has shown improvement every week. IMO he is the key to Ned's playoff success this year. Give him a few more weapons this year ie Washington TE and Kimler WR I think our O will be very tough. What is so great about this team ---- they are just that A TEAM. A talented really good group that has played multiple sports together a long time and they have been on multiple big stages with a lot of success. They may not have multiple D1 athletes like other schools, but few teams can match the friendship and comradery that this team has and that my friends is what makes this team sooooooooo DANGEROUS. Keep it going dogs we are all living and breathing your success. -
Cause no one wants to get barked at by the BIG DOG! ;D

My favorite on D would be too hard to pick. A lot of talent and on any given night 1 of 8 or 9 can and do have a huge night. I do enjoy watching our two DE's Couron and Washington on the pass rush though. Those QB's are definitely in the crosshairs when they line up. They work great together trying to corral runners to the middle for Pryor, Malveaux, Stampley and Wood to mop up on. A great example was the Vidor game. Spell and company had a great game plan and the entire D executed the plan well, other than a few big runs. On the O, I will have to go with Taylor and Shaw. Love their speed and moves. Shaw may have the quickest first step in anyone's disctrict and Taylor is just a playmaker. I too would like to see Washington at TE (when we're healthy) and Kimler get more involved with the O. If we can get these two going our O would be unbelieveable. We are going to need these two big targets come playoff time. -
I always enjoy watching Juan when I get the chance. Keep it going. We just might see him playing on Sunday's some day. On a side note. I have to say I laughed most of the evening over your post BHFAN. May get comedy post of the year.

Caleb Malveaux BIG NED #49

It never ceases to amaze me what people think they see when emotions are running high. YOU BE THE JUDGE. There was a play during the Nederland vs Vidor game that flat inflamed the entire Vidor crowd. Was this a case of bad sportsmanship or just a smart player making a good play. The play occurred, on the link, between 36:30 - 37:30 YOU BE THE JUDGE. Was this: A) Per Robanadana --a Blatant late hit on Montana B) Per Dustoff ---- a Choke Slam C) Per Brubaker ---a Body Slam D) a Good clean play IMO after knocking the rugby kicker to the ground(legal) the player looks down field and recognizes the partially blocked punt was caught by his own player and he pushes the punter back to the ground in an attempt to not allow him to get back up and make the tackle. I say good play. video link : [Hidden Content] -
Is WOS the best team in SETX?
cooligan replied to FootballCrazy1990's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Why stop at just SETX? Heck I think WOS is the best team in the nation. Why? because you are the only team who returns 28 starters year after year. Well, that is at least what Coop says. ;D I do hope WOS makes a great run and finally lives up to your fans expectations. -
I'll bet Vidor and Company hopes they don't dig too far into the graffitti incident they may not like what they find. ;)

Ozen's D is pretty salty. I watched them play Memorial. A real good LB I believe #11. D line is pretty good also. The problem with Ozen---They may have a lot of speed and athletes I just don't think they will have the coaching or discipline to match up all night with the slot. I would love to see this game, but got to watch the Dogs vs Livingston. Good luck to both teams.

Your thoughts on Central last night...
cooligan replied to uandme08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I wasn't at the game, but I am a believer in Ozen. I think they will give the P-rats all they want and then some this week. As for Central, If they have the athletes it all comes down to the coaching. Soulja knows his team best though so I will wait for his animated synopsis. Here kitty, kitty ;D -
People from Vidor and Ned need to quit banking on 2-3 rds deep. Both may go d1 and may have to play dayton and SC 1st rd. If that happens 2 very good teams will go one and done. Any of these four could go 3 or more if they get past the first round. We should know more after tonights Bh vs KP game. This year may not actually compute to last years run.

Who has the most fans? Ned or Vidor

PNG -- oops was that an option :D -
Who will win district in 20-4a
cooligan replied to knightrider's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The most dangerous game for Vidor may be the game after Ned. Win or lose, you better be ready to take on Ozen at the Butch. A lot of great athletes. I for one don't look at the Stephenville game to seriously. Too far from home and who knows what went on the night before in Dallas. I would assume lack of rest played a huge part. -
Toilet Bowl - Lumberton at PN-G, Who ya got???
cooligan replied to GoBigBlue1997's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just trying to prepare my neighbors. I have been waiting for this season, cause I saw it coming two years ago. I can't take credit for Chipman---that was way out there even for PNG. Time will tell my friend time will tell. I guess we will all get to see the character of your players and your chief as the season goes. Will they fight back or retreat? -
Toilet Bowl - Lumberton at PN-G, Who ya got???

Whoever thought the NDNS would be on the rim ready to take the plunge. Since my early season prediction looks right on (PNG 2-8 or 3 -7 with a QB controversy prior to district play) I would like to make a couple more. After PNG drums Lumberton and barelt gets by LCM, we will be hearing all about how they are on a roll and may make the playoffs. However, this season is going to be the exact opposite of the last two. You will win the first 2 district games and finish with 5 loses in a row. Tough year. Also, I would not be surprised to see AJ leave the team early to go onto basketball since he is no longer the fulltime QB. I guess I will wish you better luck next year. -
Which team has the better shot to make post season KP or the Hill? I figure these two will decide which direction Dayton goes. Thanks

Vidor begins prep for Nederland

Good news NED fans. I was able to obtain some of Vidor's summer workouts. I believe our backs are up against the wall. These kids look mentally and physically ready to go. Enjoy [Hidden Content] -
Vidor begins prep for Nederland
cooligan replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey now! Don't be making fun of Vidor. No one can teach those Kung Fu techniques as well as Master Matthews. :o -
Will tickets be available on a walk-up basis, or is this game already sold out? Thanks
-
I think the better question is - Who does Vidor have that will be able to move the ball on Nederland? The only two that made alittle noise last year are gone. (Clark and Plummer) I really love jeff, but he made a huge mistake last year when he pulled Plummer the 2nd half. This should be a low scoring close game, but it would not surprise me to see Ned win by 2 or more TD's.

I feel like Neumann. Can't wait to see the matchup between Angleton's Weakside tackle Decoteau (All-State) vs Washington. Now that will be a couple of 275 lb bull's going at it all night. Even when Angleton switches the TE from side to side Decoteau moves to the weakside, so De will be lined up on him all night. Should be an interesting matchup to say the least.
-
Not Likely. Vidor will probably go D2. Nederland and possibly Cenrtral will be the other D1 team. I expect Ozen and Vidor to go D2. Of course Livingston could have something to say about that and really mess things up. Too early to tell. What is funny though, Mighty Dayton may have to play either Vidor or Ozen first round. Talk about a game either way. Congrats to Vidor. Love watching your kids play.

All I know, I have have season tickets and already have tickets for Angleton. If there isn't a seat when I arrive there will be a few tuba's and players going over the backside, cause I'm a grouchy old man. ;D
