Congrats on this accomplishment. As far as "not being MVP" material...she did receive MVP accolades didn't she? Offensive MVP... -
Katelyn Bernsen Tabbed for All Star Game

Congrats, what an honor. -
See, the OL always makes up for the bad selections in All-District and All-region. There's the entire starting lineup, one bench player, and the coach. Should be some consolation.

I bet it's political.

Way to go Brittney...show 'em what you're made of!!!

Ronnie Dennis wasn't on this list? That was a bit shocking, even with the down year and all. Hmmm.....

J'Covan Brown And Tramain Thomas Nominated

Honestly, I don't see taking off your jersey or leaving the field of play before being excused as much a "bad attitude/temper" thing...to me, it is more a discipline issue (moreover...self-discipline). I can tell you that I have three boys (19, 18, 13) and if they ever displayed the slightest hint of an "attitude/temper"...I checked them real quick and squashed it early. We had a player walk off of the court at the state quarterfinals in Austin three years ago (I think) and his parents met him as he stepped off of the court...that's lack of discipline. Subsequently, he transferred to another school. I don't know the details of Mr. Brown's actions...I am just going by what I have read on here. You can have all of the talent in the world and get nowhere because you don't have the discipline required to harness yourself. I wish him the best in his endeavors and hope that if he is given a second chance...he'll take it seriously and live up to his obvious potential. -

Personally, if any kid in any sport takes off his/her jersey or leaves the playing field/court...THEY have ultimately made their decision to not be a part of the T-E-A-M. -
Well, I only counted four Silsbee Tigers between the MVPs, First-, and Second-teamers. That's one less than on the girls' side by one team and considering that Silsbee went on to the state tourney...looks they deserve those slots! Amazing...

**HS Basketball State Champions**
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That Dallas Oak Cliff vs. FWSW game was televised this afternoon. That was the longest 1.5 minutes I think I've ever witnessed in a high school game. Seemed more like the NBA, but it was a good one. -
I don't know you are (if you are coach or not), but you have spoken the truth and done it very well. If you are a coach, then all I can say is THANK YOU because many times coaches are underrated.' Some wise poster stated that "coaching is overrated"...while I don't believe that to be true, "coaching" and "being a coach" are two different things. Sit in any stands and you will see many all-knowing fans "coaching"...they aren't coaches, they are simply attempting to coach. Coaches are priceless. That I speak from my own dealings with coaches and their impact on my three sons. They are the positive male role model in their lives. They don't do the things they do or take the time that they do for the money. They do it because of their love of the game and usually their desire to make the difference in the life of a child. Ironic thing is...they don't get the respect that they deserve and many times, that lack of respect comes from those stand-"coaches". So, from this single parent to any and all coaches...thanks for being their and lending a hand! Keep up the good work!

Looks like politics played a part there too. ???

Who Makes The Top 3 This Season In 21 3A?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
time will tell nothing Silsbee will go to the playoffs and if you think not than your dumb 2 reasons why your dreaming about Silsbee not making the playoffs 1.) Silsbee has 3 talented players comming back on offense that are sure to make more TD's and rushing yards than anybody in the district. RB Castle guy is quick and will run striaght into you RB Barnes he is a little Reggie Bush every game i went to i saw him shake and bake about 15 guys a game QB Jonson fast and smart the only thing he might be laking is some good WR's but i may be wrong not to mention the WR i have heard about that moved to Silsbee from Lufkin but thats a diffrent story. 2.) not to much of a challenge except for WOS but that is just 1 spot taken away there is 3 to fill i could go on for days but thats 2 reasons sorry if i miss spelled any names or words Well, quite honestly...I never said that Silsbee wouldn't/couldn't make the playoffs. Yes, I said that it would be interesting if WO-S went D-I, but that's what I said...didn't even think about who wouldn't/couldn't make the playoffs for them to get there. Just simply stated...IT WOULD BE INTERESTING. Didn't mean to ruffle your whatevers dude... Quite honestly, I don't care who makes the playoffs as long as we make the playoffs, but as I stated in an earlier post, any team can be beaten on any given day by another team. Worse things have happened. Looks like Silsbee will compete again this year (like they usually do). Chill out...it's ok! -

Girls Basketball State Tournament Scores
stang4life replied to Cat22's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to all of the teams who made the trip. It is a great thing and should be comforting to know that you were each one of four teams in your classification to represent girls' basketball at the state level. How proud you should be of yourself and how proud your parents, coaches, supporters, and communities have got to be with your accomplishments. It's what memories are made of... -
YMBL Track Meet Should Be a Good One
stang4life replied to ozens fastest@1906's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This was the track meet at West Brook, right? I was at WB for a little while today. Seemed like a pretty competitive meet. Angleton added some pizazz to it, but our area teams seemed to do well. Central's 4X200m relay lead all the way with a pretty big lead after the 3rd leg, with WO-S in 2nd and Angleton in 3rd. Central won it, by Angleton passed us and finished not too far behind Central. Left before the 4X400m. Anyone have results? -
Congratulations to both teams for making it to the Regional Finals...two teams from the same district...that is awesome and you make us look pretty darn good!!! Silsbee...as someone stated before...leave it all on the court because this is your time. Represent SE Texas well! One of these days, people outside our area will learn to respect SE Texas because we have some really awesome athletes and coaches. HOPING YOU BRING HOME THE GOLD!!!
