Ditto, Mr. Vitale....I assume that you missed my winky-face? See, it's really not that big of a deal! LOL
-
Perhaps, Mr. Vitale...you are not sensitive enough. Besides, trust me when I tell you that I am not sensitive, just mindful of how to play by the rules. You showed a little of yourself in that last comment. Thank you!

Like clock work. Can always count on you for posting things like this. Yeah, but you know it's the truth..Maybe not with YOU, but people feel different ways about folks that don't look like them. You can act like it does not exist all you want, but you know whats real. Same OLD song. How long is that song going to play? Does it exist, yes it does but not like you think. It exist in all races. I for one don't see color. I see the person. Times have changed. You say people want to see him fail. You are missing the big picture. If you help a kid up everytime then how will he learn to get up by himself. I love to see anybody do well and prosper. But sometime you have hit rock bottom, then pick your self back up. How many chances are will willing to give? Hopefully this kid will go to college and it will change his whole life for the better. While I am totally for tough love and making sure that our young people understand and learn from their mistakes, I do believe that it's easier to judge on these things from the outside looking in. Until you live in a district that has some of the issues that some of the other school districts have, then it's really hard to understand the big picture. That being said, I think a lot of times, these things aren't racial, but many times there is a socioeconomic factor that many who aren't there really can't understand. If the young man messed up and has done what was asked of him to get back on the team and the powers-that-be set a time table that has been complete, then let him play because he's "done his time". If that time-table is somehow manipulated or was left vague in order to manipulate the situation, then you have to stick to what the punishment was meant to be because you are setting a very important example to the kids who are still there and the kids to come.

Wow, this thread was kind of oxy-moronic to me. I mean, I have witnessed the hecklers in action (and let me first say that I do admire their energy and team support), but they can be insulting too. In fact, there are some things that they say and do that I (as a parent) do not agree with. Not to worry, I won't debate this with anyone, but it's just kind of funny how the rules on this forum "better be followed or else", but yet there are many times that the rules of the UIL are not followed by many fans of sports.

As long as we're tested and able to improve each game.

I got to read this thread in its entirity before it was modified...so for the edit...thank you. It is so sad how narrow-minded and ignorant (in an un-educated way) that people are in this day and time and it only makes me even MORE grateful that my children didn't/don't go to any school that bc55 represents because the attitude that he displayed on here earlier is as much a part of the problem as the parents, school, community, etc. Our society today has become accustomed to the "immediate gratification" mentality and are not willing (or maybe not able) to put a little more thought and effort into our generation today. You know, SUCCESS takes WORK and it is everyone's responsibility to put forth the effort to make the world a better place. To sum up something that Gandhi said: If you are not a part of the solution, then you are a part of the problem. And to whoever made a statement about single mothers...Let me tell ya something from this single mother...Everyone always wants to make the ASSumption that socioeconomical, single-parent-majority schools and those in the schools are failing miserably in comparison to the "other" schools. Wrong. ALL of our schools are in trouble; the reasons may differ and many are the same, but as a single mother, I would appreciate you not stereotyping all of "us" because I can tell you that my three sons will do their part to make the world a better place and they will make it. I have one who graduated Salutatorian last year, one that will be playing college ball in the fall, and one still at home for a while. Success is achievable by EVERYONE and ANYONE, but I will tell you that I would be a fool to think that I did it alone. There were some family members, community members/leaders, teachers, coaches, etc. who took that little extra time to invest in my boys. That, Mr. BC55, is what it takes to make kids successful, along with guidance from home. Let me ask you, what have you done for the world or life of a child lately?

I wish we had Bay City and Dayton on the schedule. We usually have a tougher pre-season... but, we'll be okay! And, I remember playing district games away back-to-back after realignment.

Good game Mustangs and Coach Quinn, even with the loss. Just keep your heads up and do the best that you can. That's all that you can do. This is obviously an off-year for us, but you will be more seasoned next year. -
Who Makes The Top 3 This Season In 21 3A?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
While I firmly believe and back my Mustangs, remember: any team can beat another team on any given day depending on the circumstances. That being said, I believe that the Mustangs will come out on top, but to just say that something can't happen... -
WOS/Silsbee Game- Suspended..Discuss Here
stang4life replied to Lazeek's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Everyone involved should receive consequences from players to fans. I know that consequences were given to WO-S as far as fans and player(s) are concerned (several that I'm aware of). Noone in this situation should be making ANY excuses and that's all I seem to be seeing on here. If you instigated...you should be punished. If you retaliated...you should be punished. If you stepped onto the court as a fan, etc....you should be punished. Maybe if this happens consistently, some of this crap will stop happening. EACH and EVERY player is responsible for THEIR OWN actions, as well as fans. These are almost "big boys" and they need to act like they are, regardless of where they are from. -

Way to represent D.J. You deserve it. ;D -
I'm not predicting anything, but it would be foolish to think that WO-S doesn't have talent coming up in all grades too. Seems that it's high school where things seem to really get rolling (especially for the Mustangs) it's called...OFFSEASON!!! While anyone can be beat on any given day, I'll take our Mustangs until the year 2013.

Perhaps the blame lies within all players of every sport who lose their cool. Being that these are high school kids, maybe they could use a little more discipline from home, school, etc., etc. If players just play the game, then the media has nothing to show except the game. You can pass a small percentage of blame to the officials because there needs to be an overall from the NBA down. The game has gotten so far from where it should be and it has only hurt the game. What challenge is there to defend a player when you can have major contact with him? Back in the day, you touched him and it was a foul. I haven't been to too many games where "carrying" the ball was the norm for dribbling. Ridiculous. These things keep the game honest. The game just isn't the game anymore.

New coach, for one. As long as they learn from their mistakes and improve each game...that's all we can ask for. -
Hmmm...I read his post and I didn't get that he was "whining" about anything. One thing that is hard to accept is that officials call a game the way they want to; not always right, but it happens everywhere. What I find really humorous about some of the posts on here are that so many are made by new posters. It's just kind of cute! An old coach used to say that "excuses were for losers" and that is a great philosophy that can be used in all aspects of life.

How nice that would be? Why deny him that? ;D There's good talent coming up for the next 3-5 years (from middle school up). -
*CLASS 3A ALL-STATE FOOTBALL TEAM*
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
No one said that he wasn't a good player. Rhodes was a great athlete on both sides of the ball, but it's obviously not a joke that DPG was also pretty darn good himself since someone nominated him and then a few more somebodies obviously voted for him. Rhodes did deserve to be on that list. Who does cover kville? -
*CLASS 3A ALL-STATE FOOTBALL TEAM*
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First of all...A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Tim, Poodie, and Ronnie for making it. You would think that at least K-ville would have someone (namely Pierce Rhodes) who made it because they went to the quarterfinals too. While Pierce Rhodes is an awesome athlete, I don't think that he's necessarily a better RB than Poodie. Yes, he did make MVP of 21-3A, but I would think that that is because he played both ways and excelled both ways whereaas Poodie primarily played offense and some defense. -
Definitely...KUDOS to all who made that list!!!
