***Callie Orebo Steps Down As WOS Girls BB Coach***
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
WOW!!! How typical? You know, our coaches may not be the "best", but I can't think of any basketball coaches around who are. As for our talent pool, it's very rare that a school has two amazing players like BJ and BScott play at the same time, but I am really sure that any of the up and coming players reading this thread sure appreciate all of the congenial posts that are being posted on here. None of us know WHY these two coaches quit. How easy it is to speculate, huh? As for losing respect for Coach Orebo...I am not so sure that there was much respect there to begin with, so that's not saying much. I think that most teams around, especially WO-S and Orangefield lost a LOT of talent this year. Time will tell how everything works out. Thank goodness for football, basketball, powerlifting and track!!! They keep us pretty good, but thanks for all of the concern. -
...according to one person interviewed " I pay my money I can say what I want" Most of the time, it is this type of fan-mentality that precipitated the brawl that we saw on the NBA courts a couple of years back. So many parents attempt to LIVE through their children and they really should stop. Sure, there are always going to be calls that fans don't agree with, but that's just the way it is. Trust me, the coaches are usually relaying our sentiments to the referees.

Congrats for making it to the finals. Keep your heads up. Thanks for representing SE TX so well. -
** KOUNTZE WINS THE 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 71-57!!!!**
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Again, congrats to the Lions. Way to show everyone that SE TX has quality teams and talent here. Pretty impressive that with the coaching change a few years ago and you guys are still moving right along. Your coach seems like a class-act also. Way to represent SE TX and your district!!! -
*TCGA Girls Basketball Honors*

Congrats to all. Proud of you BScott. ;D As far as who received honors, the two teams who played for the state title only had 1 & 2 players on the list. -

Way to go ladies, especially B.Scott, Janae, and Kia. To Rebecca and Dominique (the other Lady Mustangs), you complete the Lady Mustangs. You didn't get any recognition, but without you two...the Lady Mustangs wouldn't have made it as far as they did. They wouldn't have split district games with OF and Silsbee and they wouldn't have made it to Regionals. Just know that the Mustang faithful know your value!!! ;) -
Amen to that!

Oh...and I agree. My point was that unfortunately there are more kids that don't benefit from that type of generosity than do. It's great that there are still good people in the world because more people need to do just as he did/does. Sadly, so many who can afford it, don't "give back" or attempt to help those kids who need it today. His blessings will be many. -
The "parent" that got ejected from the game was a fan, not a parent and he has also refereed. While I don't agree with what he said, I do have to agree with his objections to the no-calls. And, when I say no-calls, I am sure that there were some vs. WO-S too. People sometimes misrepresent facts for "whining" and that is definitely your perogative. As for WO-S being comprised of B.Scott (very complimentative), it is not true. She can't cover 5 spots on the court. Janae, Rebecca, Dominique, Kia and Red did great jobs. But, if it makes some of you feel better that one player beat you, then so be it. Whoever made the comment about depth...you are so correct. We did not have depth...at all. That did hurt us, but it can also speak alot about the girls playing. Knowing that they did not have depth to work with, they would sometimes have four fouls and maintain (which hard to do and still continue to play with a little bit of intensity). They tried. Many base their judgements on one or two games. Memri is a good player and person. Obviously, Rice does see some potential in her and obviously she is smart too. It wasn't very nice of whoever put her name on here and then said that she wasn't very impressive. But, at least she will continue to play her "unimpressive" game at Rice. And, Cheyenne is one of the most competitive players I have seen. Good luck to her in the future!!!

Actually, dedication, time and money are the keys, it would seem. Unfortunately, many dedicated parents can't afford the time and the money that is spent on camps, AAU, etc. -

Crockett 74 WO-S 42 Final/Playoffs*
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yep, University of Houston. They are getting two quality players, especially Brittney Scott!!! (I guess I am kinda biased!!!) It will be exciting to see the Lady Coogs play ball this year!!! -
I don't recall "whining" in my post. I accepted the fact that WO-S lost which appears to be difficult for some posters to admit to on here. I know that B.Scott is an awesome player (and person). As for the post being a "compliment" to us...I sensed a whee-bit of sarcasm in there. And, I took it as that because those were the words written on this thread.

Calls? Taunting bench players? Whatever. Actually, we probably didn't get enough calls vs. silsbee. We have bench players? Most of them are young and brought up from the JV squad. We lost that game. No excuses. I will say that we never gave up even when we were down by alot. As for B.Scott...she is the best player in the area. If silsbee deserved to be at the regional meet...then they would have actually been at the regional meet. That's like saying that WO-S or of deserve to be going to state this week. Duh!

Crockett 74 WO-S 42 Final/Playoffs*
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From watching both teams play, I was not at all surprised that Crockett beat Diboll. They hustled, hit their freethrows and #13 isn't a joke. She's high-energy...spastic almost. She was everywhere and had a really pretty shot. To the Lady 'Stangs...great season. B.Scott: can't wait too drive to UH to see you play next year. You are such an awesome, all-around person/player. Janae: if the opposing team had any idea what you played through and sacrificed to play...who cares. You showed your character and desire to remain a part of the team. Good luck with the eye. Congrats to all of the other Mustang players. Keep your heads up and have no regrets. See some of you in track!!! -

WO-S 79 Silsbee 74 Final/Playoffs
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It doesn't matter how many games either of us have been to...Tuesday night got out of hand. The blame should be on the officials for ALLOWING a game to get out of control, regardless if they will be obsolete in years to come. We won the game, so I am not blaming the refs for the outcome. However, they do shoulder some of the blame in certain instances when players get hurt for not doing their job...controlling the game to the best of their abilities to ensure our players' safety. -
WO-S 79 Silsbee 74 Final/Playoffs
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If you weren't at the game, then you don't have a clue just how physical this game got. There is a huge difference between being aggressive and the "rough-housing" that went on last night. We all know that basketball has become too physical, but last night was a bit much. They need to go back to like it was back in the day when contact was considered a foul. -
WO-S 79 Silsbee 74 Final/Playoffs
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Tell that to Janae who is at the ER possibly having her eyeball stitched. Were you at the game? If you weren't, then you couldn't possibly have a clue as to what went on. And, the "rough-housing" was actually an extremely polite (almost facetious) way of attempting to describe the game. There were two flagrants that were called in the last couple of minutes and probably a few more that could have been called. And, obviously I feel that there is sense in complaining about it because I posted my complaint!!! -
WO-S 79 Silsbee 74 Final/Playoffs
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First of all...Congrats to the Lady Mustangs for NOT giving up. You showed that it doesn't matter how many times in a season the other team wins...when you step on that court...it all starts fresh. As for the sloppiness...there was a LOT of rough-housing going on. The refs were to blame for the no-calls and allowing it to turn in to a football game, but even if Silsbee was "playing catch up" and all that other jazz...they were playing pretty flagrantly in the last couple of minutes. I mean, one play...maybe. But, it got ugly and that is not what I call "accepting defeat". Whoever said that B.Scott was the reason Silsbee lost...it is called a TEAM and while she is definitely the LEADER...everyone owned tonight's game. Lady Mustangs...awesome play and determination tonight. You showed that you continue to get better with each game and that you are as deserving as anyone else still playing---to be in the playoffs. Can't wait until Friday in Huntsville, baby!!! You guys go up tomorrow and just chill and rest, rest, REST!!! P.S. "Barbie"...way to hold 'em baby, way to hold 'em. -
Silsbee vs WOS round 3..Game In Evadale!!
stang4life replied to 20FAN07's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I disagree. If WO-S plays a good game, we should pull out a win. We all know that Silsbee has one 3 of 3, but if you look at WO-S...we are peaking at the right time. We have had some disappointing losses this season...I just don't believe that this will be another one. -
Best Returning Athlete in SETX?? WHO IS IT?
stang4life replied to WarriorSports's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hands down....Depaudrick Garrett. He is a force to be reckoned with. He is amazing at breaking through tackles and has great balance. Reminds me of A.Steen back in the late 1980's. -
Dangit...no fair that was my point spread!!! >
