WAY TO GO LADY TIGERS!
stang4life replied to takemeouttotheballgame's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
When reading the initial post...I gather the same conclusion. :? When teams are said to be ROLLING THROUGH DISTRICT...it would seem to indicate that they are easily beating every team (which is not true). [That would be like saying that WO-S' football team rolled through district, which is not true...we had to fight our wins. Yep, even against Silsbee!!! ] Honey, you guys had to WORK for the win tonight (in fact, it took two overtimes)...that is hardly a rollover win. A hard-fought win, but no roll-over win. Congrats to the lady tigers on their current record...keep up the good work. Lady Mustangs...tweak rebounding and easy shots (and free throws) and we should be fine. That is what district is for...to get better every game. -
Silsbee 83 WOS 79 Final Double OT
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From what I understand, the fans ran out on the court due to a flagrant foul on Brittney, most of whom were her family members. I guess silsbee fans reacted and came on down too? Also hear that lay-ups, rebounds, some missed free-throws did us in. Wish I could have been there. This looks to be an exciting season. It's great to play each team twice...should be a more positive outcome for the Lady Mustangs next time around. Congrats Ladies...not bad for playing a ranked team!!! 2OTs!!!  -
We did look very flat the first half and battled back to -6 by halftime. They adjusted at half-time and came out a different. Also, PNG has some shooters (especially outside shooters) that had an impact in the the first half, but second half...I dunno if they were tired or what, but they couldn't get it going. I have to say that the PNG fans should tweak their sportsmanship skills because when two opposing players collide and are on the floor...laughing and being happy is not appopriate. Way to go Mustangs. :!: :!:

We watched the end of the EC vs. HJ game at the HJ tourney on Friday evening. Awesome atmosphere and great game. EC came to play and impressed alot of people. Very tenacious!

WOS loses to Cathedral... 62-53
stang4life replied to big_robes49's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
McCarter did the right thing. The starters were sloppy and not hustling like they usually do. Then, when they were sitting on the bench...he asked them if they were ready to go back in and play and not all of them were...so, they sat there some more. Just because starters are starters doesn't mean they can't be sat on the bench. Better that it happens now, rather than later. Discipline is a good thing. Cathedral did play a heck of the game. Hats off to them. They took advantage of our mistakes. EC vs. HJ was an awesome game. Talk about atmosphere. It was contagious...we need some of that at our games. -
#1: Earl Thomas had several returns for touchdowns. Dominique Rhodes had some good runs, too.
-
Have to go with the WO-S staff and Moody did a very good job with WB.,
-
Hands down......Depauldrick Garrett from WO-S.
-
Kendrick LeBlanc Dominique Rhodes Earl Thomas WO-S...had to list them together....they were a team!!!
-
Andre Bevil....WO-S Brandon Williams...Central
-
Definitely....Jacoby Franks from WO-S.
-
Depauldrick Garrett will prove his value next season for WO-S.

Liberty Hill 35 Giddings 28 Final
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Excuses are for losers and this debate on who's fault WO-S' loss was should be a dead issue. First of all, there was not just ONE mistake that caused the Mustangs to lose to Giddings. I can name several that could have won us the game and then no one would even be questioning the play-calling. The smartest comment on here was the "winning as a team and losing as a team". Here's another one: A team has to be able to lose as gracefully and with as much class as when they win. Our team, the Mustangs that were on that field that night, did that. They lost as a team and trust me when I tell you...they pretty much cried as a team. There were mistakes made (quite a few) and perhaps some of the playcalling was not the best, but how easy it is to forget ALL of the other mistakes made. But, you know what...this discussion only hurts the kids who have busted their a$$e$ all year. So, shame on you! Personally, I thank each coach who dedicates all of their time to our Mustang program. Usually the ones complaining about it are the ones in the stands who don't contribute significantly to society, let alone the players on the field. They aren't hoarse after every game and usually leave before the game is over. Unless they think they can do a better job...they need to keep their comments/excuses to themselves. -

Coach Of The Year In SE Texas?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Naturally, I will say the coaching staff of WO-S is the best in SE Texas. I keep reading about talented kids, but what people don't realize is that while having talented kids is a blessing...it takes just as good of a coaching staff to harness that talent as it does any other caliber kids. WO-S have a truly dedicated coaching staff. People can say what they want...but football is not just about football at WO-S...overall, these coaches fill in some unfortunate voids for some of these players and do a great job doing it!!! -
Willis Players kicked Off Team For Donating Blood?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
How stupid! Honey, that coach needs to be put in his place. I can understand to some degree a coach being concerned for the kids to give blood and then practice or play in a game, but this coach and perhaps his coaching staff acted very selfishly. -
Out of Andre (Bevil) and Dishon...Andre for best QB. :!: Honestly, Jacoby (Franks) would be my pick before Dishon. Those two could be compared more fairly than Andre and Dishon because Andre seems to fit the QB mold better. Dishon is just a great athlete who BC needs to lead their team and what better way to do that than at QB. Look at Deon (Beasley) last year!
-
Can someone please define "thug attitude"? I don't necessarily like some of the ways people talk and type on here, but I can guarantee you that my kids have probably reverted to saying something "thuggish" as most have. You can disagree with someone and even find them annoying, but stating that someone "talks with the thug attitude" is about like telling someone that they are talking "white". I have just never figured out how these things are defined.

Nederland At LC-M Predictions
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I really hope that LC-M will pull this one out. It's nice to see them up-ing their game this year. Looks Dayton really put a twist on 22-4A. Shook it up a bit. -
Dayton At Central Predictions..Game Of The Week
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Dayton does have a good team this year, but I have to go with Central since a former 'Stang plays for them. I just have to pull for him because he is an awesome athlete (especially, his speed). -
WO-S 20 Silsbee 13 Final/Comments
stang4life replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Knowing these kids...I can't see them refusing to shake hands with their opponents. Not just because the coaches would get on to them, but because their parents would light into them, as well. I know that there has been a lot of trash-talking between WO-S and Silsbee athletes since basketball playoffs last year, but I cannot see them being outright disrespectful. I, too, will have to inquire about the coin-toss cordialities or lack of. -
WO-S 20 Silsbee 13 Final/Comments
stang4life replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This was a good game with good timing (probably for both teams). It was a hard fought game. As for the overrated-ness...the players are not the ones predicting blowouts. They take each game for what it is. As for the flags...I don't see where Silsbee has too much to complain about because the only major flag they received was the holding that called back the touchdown. The better team won tonight...not by a blowout, but a win is a win whether it's by 1 point or 99. Congrats to Silsbee. You are a big and physical team. You played a heck of game and the sportsmanship after the game was nice to see. -
Central 22 Lumberton 14 Final/Comments
stang4life replied to lonestar's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to Central on the win. I wasn't at the game, but I read Saturday's write-ups. I can tell you this...Morris Thomas (Central's RB) is an AWESOME athlete. He is phenomenal to watch in track. I just thought that I would post something positive about Central and Morris because everything was "Lumberton, Lumberton, Lumberton". I had to double-check the website...thought I was on a Lumberton website. -
I have to agree that this game does get a lot of attention, but it is more of a community thing than a SE Texas thing. Rah Rah...you guys get the attention of some news stations...it all amounts to just another game, menial bragging rights that don't mean much if you don't play in the post-season, and usually a determination of placement going into the playoffs. As for as everybody HATING and being jealous of PNG's winning tradition and program...please...don't flatter yourselves. Looks like 22-4A got a jolt this season and most knew that it would shake things up a little. Looks like it did! That being said...good luck to both teams tomorrow night. Hopefully both teams will come out injury-free and having displayed the ultimate sportsmanship because it is a big game between your two communities.
