Has Grades affected your team this grading Period?

77, I certainly hope that you are not an LHS alumnist with that grammatically-incorrect post (you know, the one with the double negative)!!! -
WO-S 20 Bay City 12 Final
stang4life replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Dre actually injured his shoulder earlier in the week in practice. It has bothered him since, but he is determined to play. If anyone was at the game...that determination could be summed up in one play: When he made a critical 1st down by diving headfirst into Blackcat defenders on their 4-yd line, injury and all. His injury did hinder his performance and we were flat, but we played them and won. We had some key players with some injuries (like both QBs) and we had some key players that didn't have good games, but as a T-E-A-M...we got the "W". That's the awesome thing about the T-E-A-M concept. As for the Vidor poster...stop hatin'. We beat Bay City (maybe we didn't blow them out, but we got the job done). That's all that matters. We beat Vidor in scrimmage and I heard several comments after that scrimmage about "Well, if it had been a real game, things might have been different"...bullcrap! The only thing that would have been different was there would have been two more minutes played in each quarter. Maybe...I'd like to see Vidor play St. Pius!!! Vidor has the chance to make some noise in that district...now, whether they do or not...we'll let you worry about that. WO-S is not near perfect, but we have gotten the job done and that is what matters. I wish you the best! -
Highest Scoring Football Game

Seems like I recall Newton beating OF in the mid-1980's or so REALLY bad...like in the 90's to almost nothing. :? -
Kelby Kirby Of Anahuac Injured
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Kelby Kirby is an awesome athlete. He was exciting to watch at the district track meet. What type of injury? That really stinks especially being injured at a camp. Hopefully, he will be back by district. Wishing you a speedy recovery from Mustang-land!!! -
Who Has The Best Looking Uniforms In SE Texas?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't know why I want to say that there was a contest for a new WO-S logo and that is how the flying WO-S came to be. Maybe in 1985 or 1986? -
Would You Participate In 7 on 7?
stang4life replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
7 on 7 provides an extra opportunity for the QBs, WR, and RB to gel. Especially when you have a change at the QB position. Sure, injuries are a possible, but you just pray for everyone to come out healthy because injuries can occur anywhere (at school or away from school). It does keep them sharp and conditioned. Plus...it allows the fans/parents to have a little preseason season to watch. -
The WO-S Mustang 4X200 meter relay team earned 3rd place in Austin today. Congrats to Jacoby Franks, Earl Thomas, Jerrod Lewis and Deon Beasley. '''fa '''fy '''fa To all SE Texas' athletes...congrats on your accomplishments this year! Please, have a safe trip back from Austin.

Who is the Best All Around (allsport) Player in SETX?
stang4life replied to LRaiser08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would have to say...Earl Thomas because he participates in the four main sports that are played at WO-S. He has proven to be both and team player and individual athlete. He was part of the football team that made it to the quarterfinals, basketball team that made to quarterfinals, baseball team and state-qualifier in the 4X200 meter relay. -
QuarterBacks HS..Best You've Ever Seen?
stang4life replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Actually, I never said that Deon did not have a weakness. Doesn't everyone? And, I think that most would agree that his weakness would have to be his passing, but I only made the comment because it was mentioned that basically he wasn't a good passer. Thanks!!! -
QuarterBacks HS..Best You've Ever Seen?
stang4life replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Beasley just has a "knack" for playing the game! Actually, for being an athlete. As for his passing, I don't think it is fair to base a player's talent or lack of talent on one game. He could pass the ball, but it just so happens that his running game was awesome. -
Jacoby Franks of WO-S

That's only to those who choose not see what's REALLY happening. We could transfer our entire team OUT and still be talked about...so, I think that we should just take it all as compliments when people talk about us because they are taking the time to think about us!!!

#1: Friday Night Lights - definitely my favorite #2: Remember the Titans #3: Junction Boys (the one about the Aggies, I think! I just remember being tired watching them in that movie!!!) #4: Radio

Back in the early-mid '80s, wasn't Newton like a powerhouse team? My cousin played for Orangefield until he was injured and he played with Stephen Quarles and at least one of those Peveto boys... anyway...I just remember that Newton was REALLY GOOD!
-
Morris Thomas - Central (If he can remain healthy...this kid is a powerhouse and can RUN!!!)
-
Might get a little crowded! C'mon Mustangs...finish this season strong!!! :ch
-
Hopefully the Mustangs can pull together for a win tomorrow. Get them out of this slump!

Anyone who knows any of these kids would know that more than just the seniors care. Note: I said "any" and not "all". As for the football players on the team, you have to watch them on the field to appreciate their efforts. They are athletes (not just players) and they usually give their all. And, trust me...their recovery efforts from Wimberly is what drives them...not hinders them. :thumbsup

Just one guy from WO-S? We were the last team to come home!! Surely someone else impressed you!!!

TABC Girls All Region Teams For 2005-2006
stang4life replied to LuvThoseCats's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to all, especially B.J.!!! It seems to me that there are some inconsistencies. I feel that Brittney Scott should have been on this list. :? -
SilsbeeD...  Why? Why? Why? Why does BH have to not be "all they are hyped up to be" or WO-S just have a "good game?  Just joking! Way to go 'Stangs! Let's start the streak with tonight's win!!! :ch

WO-S looks pretty good. You have DePauldrick Garrett (#24) who played last year. He's a powerhouse. There were several '08 players who saw playing time on Varsity last year. Plus, it can never hurt to have all of their off-seasons under Coach T!!!
