Congrats Mustangs on a great year! You achieved many FIRSTS this year and we couldn't be prouder. To the seniors...many best wishes to you in your "life after high school"...we hope to maybe watch some of you continue to grow on the court, but better yet...IN LIFE! Hold your heads high because you made it to where only three other schools in 3A made it to...and that is a tremendous accomplishment. It was a WILD RIDE and one that will be remembered for years to come! Thanks!!

I'll finish it like I started it...I believe that OF has been overrated the last two years. You are the one that mentioned that WO-S lost to an unranked team. As for fans, we had a girls' game that started in Huntsville @ 6:15, a boys' game that began @ 7:00 and a 2.5-3.0 driving distance between the two...we did the best we could (and apparently...our best wasn't good enough!) :wink: :wink:

Trust me...you are no happier than I am. I am the better person for not finishing at OF! :wink: But, please understand that it is not a dislike of OF as a whole...just certain aspects, as my entire family completed at OF. And, I am aware that two Lady Mustangs finished on the Honorable Mention list (thanks to your brilliant analysis that they got there by riding coat tails)!! Here is my point: Okay, props to OF for being defeated by 1 point by the 3A state champs. :ch I am not saying that OF sucks and I have never said that. The Lady Bobcats had a good season, but please don't judge WO-S because we lost to an unranked team. We lost that game to the better team that night, but there were definitely some inconsistencies that night! Not an excuse because we got beat...but, anyone who has followed the Ladies know that that was not their usual style of play. Again, not an excuse because we just got outplayed. Neither Sims or Ancelot would have changed the outcome. :shock: The Mustangs went undefeated in district. That equates to noone in district beat them. OF had at least three losses in district and yet their entire team makes 1st and 2nd team...just doesn't make sense to me. (By the way, I have never said that WO-S deserved their entire team on the list!) But, again...I understand that it is opinion-based...I just happen to disagree. As for our fans...it is probably hard to understand how difficult it is to have to decide who to support in a situation like ours and YES, IT IS DIFFICULT! We all know that had the boys NOT been playing that night...we would have had many, many more people. So, you come on. When you find yourself in that type of situation....then judge!!

My dearest BOBKAT: I don't "hate" anyone, but it is my opinion that OF has been over-rated the last two years. I never said that I thought that 5-6 WO-S players should have been on the 1st and 2nd team....but, in comparison to OF, I think that if anyone should have that many it would be WO-S, not OF. :roll: As for your accusation that the rest of the Lady Mustangs rode the coat tails of B.J. and B.Scott...review our season and you should find that even though they might be the leaders of the Lady Mustangs...every one of our players played a key part at some point in more than one game. Our two posts were forces this year...no one rode anything! :wink: I spent eight years at OF and I don't hate Orangefield-ians (but I am thankful that I didn't finish there)...I simply state my opinions, just as everyone else does. WO-S is not perfect and I never said that anything about Orebo (positive or negative), but I don't know that Ancelot could have done any better. WO-S not winning in Huntsville was not all Orebo. I do believe that for a variety of reasons, WO-S does not necessarily get the respect that they deserve. Our kids work just as hard (or harder) as everyone elses! And, I will voice my opinion about it (in your words "go off") because I can. Again, that is just my opinion! :wink: :wink:

There is a bus going to Austin. I am not sure of the details, but there is probably some info in the newspaper. I did hear that it is leaving early in the morning--6'ish and that it would be $32 round-trip. For those of you who don't want to drive....GET ON THE BUS and go support our MUSTANGS!!! :cheers :ch

I actually meant that I agree with the sentiments concerning how these things are voted on...I don't agree with the voting because it's not a fair representation of all of these kids efforts. :oops:

Well, I happen to agree with the voting on these things...they are obviously opinions because there doesn't seem to be a real system to it. WO-S was undefeated during district, but we still have less representation than OF. OF lost not only to WO-S, but to HJ. Why isn't HJ better represented? (This looks alot like last year's selections. The only thing missing is Coach of the Year: Ancelot) :roll: And, just because a team doesn't make the playoffs does not mean that they don't have as many good players as playoff teams, nor does it mean that they should be less recognized for all-district honors. A MORE EVEN/FAIR DISTRIBUTION!! I think that is what most people want. You can't convince me that OF is deserving of all five starters being named. :thumbsdown Also, this is an all-district honor...so it shouldn't matter who made it in the post-season. Take what was accomplished during the season and base recommendations on that. Just think...next year, this district is going to be TOUGH...I have a feeling that things will be shaken up and we won't be seeing entire teams named. :wink:

I wish that I could say WO-S, but even though we are a 3A school now...we can still fill up our 5A stadium with standing-room only. What hurts us is that with all of those bodies....the noise just doesn't match up because if it did....then WO-S would win this one hands-down (or voices up)!!! :wink:

I agree. Coach McCarter has done a good job and is finally getting some overdue credit. :cheers The atmosphere in Huntsville was AWESOME. The Mustangs looked good. There were a lot of fouls called, but they just kept battling. :blackeye If you didn't go to Huntsville....try to make arrangements to go to Austin. They deserve all that we can give. The worst thing that can happen is to have a hoarse voice when all is said and done....take one for the team!!! :wink:

Wow...I certainly hope that the jury will send a message with this sentencing because we have so many parents who "ruin it" for kids. At any level...girls/boys...you see parents who are so trying to live through their children that it is sickening. There is so much politics and "mommas and daddies who missed their callings"---from little league to high school. Let the kids be and let them be kids! They should be learning and having some fun without some anal parent making a fool of himself and his child.

If the ooach did kick him off then he did the right thing because a TOUGH message needs to be sent to these kids that there are consequences to their actions. Sure, they might get in trouble legally and maybe even at home, but they need to learn that they are representative of themselves, their families, their community, their school and their team. Kids today are not held accountable enough for their actions. :evil: So, kudos to Coach Stump for taking a stand. Sure, their are bound to be unhappy people, but if those same people would focus more on how they can better prepare their child for society and life in general...the world would be a much better place and the prison system wouldn't be thriving.

They looked pretty good tonight. They had some bad passes and missed free-throws, but other than that...they worked well together. Not just BJ or Scott...everyone contributed to the win. :gui You gotta give it to Silsbee...they fought HARD to the end and they were tough. They had a couple of young ladies who could hit threes and they were pretty tough on defense, but the Lady Mustangs buckled down and stayed focused. Silsbee had a few good runs and got within 12 points.

I am pulling for WO-S girls and boys to make the trip and be successful! :wink:

Well, that just about does it! Let's support our Lady Mustangs as they play Silsbee! As far as I know, there is not a conflict with the boys' playoff game (gosh, that feels good for the guys and girls to be in the playoffs!! :wink: ). It just seemed like she was everywhere. Smith had a good night. Overall, the Ladies shot well, passed well and rebounded really well. :cheers I tell you, Diboll should be force to be reckoned with because they have some good height and one girl who could hit threes if given the opportunity.
