First it must recognized that it is JUST that opinions...so to each their own. But I will add mine. My kid has a desent shot at winning a state title in High Jump. However I will say this....there is NO doubt if she had an exposure tournament in Softball interfering with the state track meet....her select SB would come first. That is made CLEAR at the beginning of each season....if the coach doesn't agree to work around that...she simple doesn't play that school sport....if they do agree.....I don't expect to hear anything about her missing when it happens. Her future and her heart is in softball....period

Maybe....but it was me pushing her to be a "multi-sport" athlete ;)

WOW....congrats to her. Good luck in district, regionals, and probably state with that height. -

High Island
Chester
Goodrich
Martinsville
Leggett
Chireno
Apple Springs
Burkeville
Centerville
Spurger
Does anyone know why the above schools were grouped as a "District" participating in kountze and the following more "local" schools below were grouped in a "district" that competed in Zavala.
West Hardin
Evadale
Sabine Pass
I know for me it was 70 miles one way (for 2 days) to Zavala, not to mention we passed several of those schools coming all the way here where as Zavala would have been in their back yard as Kountze would have been for the latter 3 schools. Not much consideration on UIL's part.
Because the first group you mentioned is in the small school district and the other group is in the big school district
AH....Ok...makes sense, new to the 1A world....3A competes in the same district in ALL sports. Another adjustment with 1A is just about every sport has different teams in its district....due to schools not having ALL of the sports....thanks again...Im learning -

Riding Solo.....how many times are you going to go there....please correct me if I am wrong, but the past 5 or so years haven't field events been on Tuesdays for District.....the parent involved knew that, committed to the select tournament in Indianapolis, and then later found out that district this year had changed.....unfortunate for everyone involved....
But I do agree, high school sports should come first.....I like wosgrad post, so true so true....you start out that way, you end that way....
Take your blood pressure medicine riding solo and it just might be time to retire..... ;)
Trust me, I am taking mine..... ;D
Good post grad, Tjcfan08 I will beat that dead horse until the day I die. Sorry but I will retire someday just not yet. ;) Someone please enlighten me, did they change the track schedule at the last moment? Craig S, would your daughter miss the state softball tournament also?
In reality the specific sports you're discussing doesn't affect her...her select SB doesn't play during the HS softball season.....but to say this....state ANYTHING in HS....does not come before playing in front of hundreds of college softball colleges....she has given us her priorities....those priorities have been conveyed to her HS coaches....if they won't let her without consequences...she doesn't play....if they agree to work around her select schedule then there isn't a problem for either...coach or player.
